Rulebook
1. Chapter I – Preliminary
1.2. Definitions: Unless otherwise provided, the words used in the Rules shall be construed as defined
hereinafter –
a) “Committee” means the IFIM Law School Moot Court Committee.
b) “Competition” means the Intra Moot Court Competition.
c) “Draw of Lots” means picking up chits by the teams to determine the competition's fixture.
d) “Hard Copy” refers to the printed version of the written submission submitted to the committee.
e) “Moot Proposition” means the case or the fact sheet released by the committee for the
competition.
f) “Oral Rounds” means the oral pleadings presented by the teams before the judges.
g) “Rules” means the Annual Ranking Moot Court Competition - Major Rules.
h) “Soft Copy” refers to the electronic version of the written submission to be uploaded on this
form - Memorial Submission.
i) “Unique Code” means the specific code that shall be provided to the registered individual
and used by the individual for all further communications.
j) “Written Submission” means the document prepared by the individual per Chapter IV of the
Rules.
2.1. Eligibility: All the students of IFIM Law School pursuing a five-year integrated course of BBA
LLB and three-year LLB are eligible to participate in the Annual Ranking Moot Court Competition
- Major.
2.2. Team Composition: Each team shall constitute a minimum of 2 Speakers or 2 Speakers and 1
Researcher. Only the team member(s) designated as Speakers shall be allowed to put forth oral
submissions.
2.3. Registration: The Registration shall be completed by filling out this Google form – Registration
Link. before the date of registration i.e., 9/12/2024 (9th December, 2024).
2.4. Allotment of Unique Code: Every individual registered for the competition shall be allotted a
unique code by 10/12/2024 (10th December, 2024) which they shall use for all further
communications with the Committee.
4.4. Submission of Hard Copy of Written Submission: The teams are required to submit 3 hard
copies of each side of their written submission (Total – 6 copies) to the committee on or before 5
PM, 19/12/2024 (19th December, 2024).
4.6. Plagiarism:
a) Individuals shall not commit plagiarism.
b) “Plagiarism” means the act of appropriating the literary composition of another, or parts or
passages of another’s writings, or the ideas or language of another, and passing them off as the
product of one’s own mind. If any Memorial is found plagiarized, the Committee reserves the
right to disqualify the plagiarizing Team from the competition.
5. Chapter V – Penalties
5.1. Penalty for Late Submission of Written Submission: If the individual fails to submit the written
submission within the time as stipulated by the committee, such Team shall have a deduction of
two marks per hour and per side in the memorial marks, subject to a maximum deduction
of 5 marks per day.
5.2. Penalty for Exceeding the Page Limit: If the individual exceeds the page limit of the
written submission under Schedule I, such an individual shall be penalized with a deduction of two
marks per extra page in the written submission.
5.3. Scouting:
a) No individual shall be allowed to hear or see the Oral Rounds of any other Team until the Oral
Round of that Team is completed.
b) If any individual is found indulging in scouting, his/her team shall be disqualified from the
Competition.
5.5. Punishment for Violation of Any Rule: Any person found in violation of any provisions of this
Rule, or any other Rules made by the Committee for the Competition shall be liable for punishment
of not less than a deduction of 10% of his/her team’s score but not more than deduction of
20% of his/her team’s score.
6. Chapter VI - Miscellaneous
6.1. Clarification: Any individual having any doubt regarding the moot proposition or registration, or
any other rule shall mail the same to [email protected] on or by 11/12/2024 (11th December, 2024).
In case of any discrepancy, the decision of the committee shall be final and irrevocable.
6.2. Copyright:
a) The copyright concerning the memorials submitted for participation in the Competition is
assigned by participants and shall also vest completely and fully with the Committee.
b) The participants shall certify the originality of the memorials, and the materials used and shall
be responsible for any claim or dispute arising out of further use and exhibition of these
materials.
c) The Committee shall have the right to publicly display, distribute either electronically or
otherwise and they shall not be responsible for any liability to any person for any loss caused
by errors or omissions in this collection of information, or for accuracy, completeness, or
adequacy of the information contained in these materials.

6.5. Dress Code: The participants shall adhere to the following dress code when present in any
courtroom during the Competition.
a) Ladies: White salwar and kurta or white shirt and black pants or skirt along with a black coat
and black shoes; and
b) Gentlemen: White shirt, black trousers, and black tie along with black coat and black
shoes.
