Notes on Batteries Usage

Carefully read and strictly observe the Safety Instructions and the notes described below:

Use only the specified batteries. Avoid extremely cold environments as low temperatures can shorten the battery life and reduce camera performance. This low temperature will also influence Alkaline battery performance, therefore Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are highly recommended. When you are using new rechargeable batteries or rechargeable batteries that have not been used for an extended period of time (batteries that have passed the expiration date are exceptions) it can affect the number of images that can be captured. To maximize their performance and lifetime, we recommend an initial full charge and discharge cycle. This will allow the full capacity to be used. The batteries may feel warm after a long period of continuous use of ViviCam 7330 or the flash. This is normal and not a malfunction. The camera may feel warm after a long period of continuous use. This is normal and not a malfunction. If the batteries are not to be used for a long period of time, remove it from the camera to prevent leakage or corrosion. If the batteries are not to be used for a long period of time, store it after no battery power is left. If the batteries are stored for a long time in a fully charged state, its performance may be impaired. Always keep the batteries terminals clean. There is a risk of explosion if the batteries are replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the recycle instructions. Never use batteries of different types (together) or mix old and new batteries. Never use manganese batteries.

Auto

Using the Mode Dial 1. Rotate the mode dial to the desired mode and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Compose your subject within the focus frame. When you press the shutter release button down half way, the camera's Auto Focus feature automatically focuses the image. Proper exposure is determined and locked at the same time. 3. Press the shutter release button all the way down to capture the image.

PREPARING YOUR VMCAM 7330

Preparation
1. Attach the camera strap. 2. Open the battery/SD memory card cover. 3. Insert the batteries with correct orientation as shown. 4. Insert an SD memory card (Optional). ViviCam 7330 has 22MB internal memory for image storage but you can load an SD memory card to expand the camera's memory capacity. Be sure to format the memory card with this camera before its initial usage. 5. Close the battery/SD memory card cover and make sure it is locked securely.

Be careful not to drop the batteries when opening or closing the battery cover. s Due to the characteristics of alkaline batteries, camera performance may be less than expected. AA alkaline batteries are recommended only in case of emergency and for checking the camera's functions. Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are a superior choice for performance and economy. s To prevent valuable data from being accidentally erased from an SD card, you can slide the write protect tab (on the side of the SD memory card) to "LOCK". s To save, edit, or erase data on an SD memory card, you must unlock the card.

Using the AC Adapter (Optional Accessory)

Using an AC adapter is recommended if you intend to use the LCD monitor for a long time or connect ViviCam 7330 to a PC. 1. Make sure your camera is off. 2. Connect one end of the AC adapter to the camera DC input terminal labeled "*.+ 3.3V". 3. Connect the other end to a power outlet.

Make sure to use only the AC adapter specified for the camera. Damage caused by the use of an incorrect adapter is not covered under the warranty. To prevent unexpected auto power off resulting from no battery power left during the process of transferring your images to the computer, use the AC adapter as a power supply. s The AC adapter can only be used to power the camera. Batteries cannot be charged inside the camera.

Press the power switch until the digital camera turns on. To turn the power off, press the power switch again.

Follow the steps below to choose the desired language. 1. Rotate the mode dial to 6S, and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch.

2. [Set-up1] is displayed. 3. Use the four-way controller (V) to select [Language], then press the OK button. 4. Use the four-way controller () to select the language you want. 5. Press the OK button to confirm.

Setting the Date and Time

Follow the steps below to set the date display style, current date and time.

1. Rotate the mode dial to S, and turn ViviCam CEO:Dt3Ulm 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. [Set-up1] is displayed. 01 I 01 / 2007 3. Use the four-way controller (V) to select [Date & Time] and the four-way controller (t) to switch the date types, then press 00 : 00 the OK button. 4. Press the four-way controller (t) to select Day, Month, Year and Time fields. To increase a value, press the four-way controller (A). To decrease a value, press the four-way controller (V). The time is displayed in 24-hour format. 5. Press the OK button after all fields are set.

Formatting an SD Memory Card or Internal Memory

The term "Formatting" means preparing an "SD memory card" to record images; this process is also called "initialization". This utility formats an SD memory card or the internal memory and erases all stored images and data.

1. Rotate the mode dial to `, and turn your camera on by pressing the power switch. [Set-up1] is displayed. 2. Use the four-way controller (V) to select [Format], then press the OK button. 3. Use the four-way controller (AV) to select [Yes], then press the OK button to confirm.

When you format an SD memory card, be aware that all data on the SD memory card will be erased. Protected images are also erased. To format the intemal memory, do not insert an SD memory card into the camera. Otherwise, you will format the SD memory card. s An SD memory card having any problem cannot be properly formatted.

PHOTOGRAPHY MODE

Shooting Images

1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , A, r, or *) and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Compose the image on the LCD monitor screen so that the main subject is within the focus frame. 3. Press the shutter release button down halfway to focus the image. When you press the shutter release button down halfway, the camera's Auto Focus feature automatically focuses the image. The focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus. Proper exposure is determined and locked at the same time. 4. Press the shutter release button the rest of the way down to capture the image.

s The actual captured image appears to be larger than the one displayed by the LCD monitor screen after the image has been captured. s Pressing the OK/101 button switches the LCD monitor display mode. Each time you press the OK/101 button, the display changes in the following order: Normal Display 4 Information Display 4 No Icons 4 LCD Off.

Setting Image Resolution and Quality

As you get to know ViviCam 7330, you can set the image resolution (number of vertical and horizontal pixels) and image quality (compression ratio) based on the types of images you want to shoot.These settings affect the number of images that can be stored in the internal memory, or on an SD memory card. Higher resolution and higher quality images provide finer detail but cause the images' file size to be larger. To change image resolution or image quality, perform these steps below: 1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , L, r, or *) and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Press the MENU button. [Model] is displayed. In the A mode, [Auto] is displayed. 3. Use the four-way controller (V) to select [Image Size], then press the OK button. 4. Use the four-way controller (A) to select the desired setting, then press the OK button to confirm. 5. Follow the step 3 and 4 above to set the [Quality].

The possible number of shots and recording time depend on the storage size, resolution and quality settings and the subject of the image to be captured. You can resize the images later. Please refer to the section in this manual titled "Resizing an Image" for further detail.

Using the Zoom Function

ViviCam 7330 is equipped with 3x optical zoom. The lens moves according to the zoom button setting, allowing you to capture telephoto and wide-angle shots. By using the optical zoom function, images appear closer by pressing the button, or smaller away by pressing the 400 button. The zoom bar indicates the current level of magnification. When the digital zoom is within 3x magnification, the zoom bar is within the optical zoom range. When the digital zoom function is set to On, you can further enlarge the subject with up to 4x digital zoom by continuing to press the $ button. It is activated after your camera reaches its maximum optical zoom factor (3x) and the Optical zoom Digital zoom range zoom bar is within the digital zoom area. You range Zoom bar can enlarge the subject to a maximum magnification equivalent to 12 times. A useful feature as it is, however, the more the image is enlarged, the more pixelated the image will appear. To capture a zoomed image, perform the following steps: 1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P r, , or *) and turn your camera on by pressing the power switch. 2. Adjust the magnification ratio by using the $$i $ button. To exit zoom photography, continuously press the 444 button. The status of digital magnification is displayed on the LCD monitor. 3. Compose your scene and press the shutter release button.

To enable digital zoom feature, set the [Mode2- Digital Zoom] to [On] in the A P,ats,v, , or *) mode.

Using the Flash

The flash is designed to function automatically when lighting conditions warrant the use of flash. You can take an image using a desired flash mode to suit your circumstances. 1. 2. 3. The Auto flash mode changes each time the button is pressed. You can also change the setting using the four-way controller OK : (). Press the OK button to confirm the setting. Compose your scene and press the shutter release button.

ViviCam 7330 has four flash modes: Auto, Auto + Red-eye, Flash on and Flash off. The table below will help you to choose the appropriate flash mode:

iA Auto

The flash fires automatically according to the photographic conditions. Use this mode to reduce the red-eye effect when you want to take natural-looking photographs of people and animals in low-light conditions. When taking photographs of people, the red-eye effect can be reduced by increasing the room lighting if possible and having your subject not look directly into the camera. The camera's pre-flash and slight delay in this mode will also help to improve your images. The flash will always fire regardless of the surrounding brightness. The flash will not discharge, regardless of the brightness. Use this mode when taking pictures using indoor lighting, for stages and indoor competitions, and when the subject is too far away for the flash to be effective.

Setting Focus
Images can be captured with the focus determined automatically using auto focus. You may over-ride the auto focus and specify [ a ] macro or [A] infinity. 1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , or *) . 2. Press the power switch to turn on the power. 3. Press the four-way controller (/a ). The focus mode changes each time the button is pressed. You can also change the setting using four-way controller (Y). 4. Press the OK button to confirm the setting. 5. Compose your scene and press the shutter release button.

ViviCam 7330 has three focus modes: Standard, Macro and Infinity. The table below will help you choose the appropriate focus mode:

Select Standard-focus setting for most occasions when you want the camera to automatically determine the focus setting.When using Standard-focus setting, any object at a range of 50cm or greater can be in focus. Select Macro-focus setting to capture close-up images. When the lens is zoomed to its widest position you may focus on objects as close as 5cm..When the lens is zoomed to its telephoto position (3x zoom) you may focus as close as 35cm. Select Infinity-focus setting when you want to capture images of subject at a distance of infinity. The flash mode will be set to Flash Off automatically.

CAPTURE MODE

This mode is used for continuous shooting. 3 pictures are taken continuously once the shutter release button is pressed. Secure ViviCam 7330 to a tripod or place it on a stable surface.

1. Rotate the mode dial to A , or *). 2. Press the power switch to turn on the Capture Mode power. Burst - . 3. Press the four-way controller (A/tJ) and use (A) to select [Burst]. You can also OK : ~ change the setting using four-way controller (t). 4. Press the OK button to confirm the setting. The indicator is displayed on the monitor screen. 5. Press the shutter release button halfway to lock the focus. 6. Press the shutter release button to capture a sequence of images.

In Burst mode, the flash mode will be set to Flash Off automatically.

Auto Bracket

In this mode, ViviCam 7330 automatically changes the exposure within a set range to take three shots after you press the shutter release button once. Auto Bracket settings can be combined with exposure compensation settings to extend the adjustment range.

1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , le" \-iLi i or *). 2. Press the power switch to turn on the Capture Mode power. AEB . 3. Press the four-way controller (A/ t )) and use (A) to select [AEB]. Press the shutter release button to capture the three images.

Self-Timer

The image is captured about 2 seconds after the shutter is pressed. This mode is useful for preventing camera shake. The image is captured about 10 seconds after the shutter is pressed. This mode is suitable for the shots in which the photographer has to be included.

. 10+2 sec. 2 Self-timer

The first image is captured about 10 seconds after the shutter release button is pressed, and then the second image is captured 2 seconds later. This mode is convenient when capturing group images in succession. Flash does not fire in this mode.

After one shot is taken, the self-timer mode is turned off. If you wish to take another image using the self-timer, repeat these steps.

Adjusting the Exposure (EV Compensation)

You can manually adjust the exposure determined by the digital camera. Use this mode when the proper exposure cannot be obtained, for example, when the contrast (difference between bright and dark areas) between the subject and the background is extremely high. The EV compensation value can be set in the range from -2.0EV to +2.0EV. 1. Rotate the mode dial to P , L, A, , or *). 2. Press the power switch to turn on the power. 3. Press the four-way controller (/P) and use 1 to set the range of EV compensation value from -2.0EV to +2.0EV. 4. Press the OK button to confirm the setting.

PLAYBACK MODE - THE BASICS

You can display the still images one by one. 1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , It, A, , *) or 82 and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Press the p button. The last recorded image appears on the LCD monitor screen. Basic information is shown by indicators on the LCD monitor screen. To see full information display, press the OK button. 3. Use the four-way controller (1 to select the desired images. ) To view the previous image, press the four-way controller (4). To view the next image, press the four-way controiler ().

Viewing Images

s For protected images/movie clips, Qn mark will be displayed. Refer to the section in this manual titled "Protecting Images/Movie Clips" for further details. s If there is no image stored in the internal memory or on the SD memory card, [No image] message will appear on the LCD monitor screen. s You cannot enter the Playback mode from the Setup mode.

Magnifying Images
This mode allows you to enlarge a selected portion of the image to view fine details. The zoom factor displayed on the screen shows the current magnification.

1. Press the (1 button. The last recorded image appears on the LCD monitor screen. To view the previous image, press the ~ four-way controller (1). To view the next image, press the four-way controller (). 1.5x 2. Adjust the zoom ratio by using the $I button. To enlarge the selected image, press the $ button. To return to the normal image, press the +44 button. The magnification factor is displayed on the LCD monitor screen. 3. To view different portions of the images, press the four-way controller (A V A) to adjust the display area.

The magnification range from 1.5X to 4X (within 6 stages: 1.5X, 2.0X, 2.5X, 3.0X, 3.5X and 4.0X).

Thumbnail Display

This function allows you to view 9 thumbnail images on the LCD monitor screen simultaneously so you may search for a particular image.

1. Press the l= button. SD The last recorded image appears on the LCD monitor screen. 2; 2. Press the $$$ button once. Nine thumbnail images are displayed ~ 4,1111 . 4 r. ;61 6 simultaneously. For recorded movie clips, the movie mode icon will be displayed. MI ! For protected images/movie clips, [}n mark will be displayed. 3. Use the four-way controller (A V 1) to move the cursor to select the image to be displayed at regular size. 4. Press the OK or $ /Q button to display the selected image on full screen.

Slideshow Display

The slideshow function enables you to play your images back automatically in sequential order. This is very useful and entertaining feature for reviewing recorded images and for presentations.

1. Press the (= button. The last recorded image appears on the LCD monitor screen. 2. Press the MENU button to access the Playback menu. Then use the four-way controller (V) to select [Slide Show] and press the OK button. 3. Use the four-way controller (AV) to set the playback interval, then press the OK button. The slideshow starts. The movie clips display the first frame image, and the movie is not played back. To stop slideshow, press the OK button.

s You can adjust the slideshow display interval within the range of 3 sec., 5 sec., and 10 sec..

Resizing an Image
You can change the image size of a captured image to one of the following sizes: 2592 x 1944 pixel, 2048 x 1536 pixel, 1280 x 960 pixel, 640 x 480 pixel. 1. Press the button. Use the four-way controller (AV) to select the desired setting, then press the OK button to confirm.

You can only choose a smaller size image; you cannot increase the resolution of an image. Movie cannot be resized.

MOVIE MODE

The optical zoom function (3X) can be activated before you start recording the movie clips. The digital zoom function can be activated before and during the recording. Pressing the OK/10t button switches the LCD monitor screen display mode. Each time you press the OK/IOI button, the display changes in the following order: Normal Display 4 No Icons 4 LCD Off.

Playing Back Movie Clips

You can play back the recorded movie clips on the LCD monitor screen. However, the sound recorded with movie clips can only be played back on a TV or on a computer. 1. Press the Qbutton. loo-0001 2. PLAYBACK MODE - ADVANCED FEATURES

Playing Back Still Images/Movie Clips on TV

You can also playback your images on a TV screen. Before connecting to any device, make sure to select NTSC/PAL system to match the video output system of the video equipment you are going to connect to the digital camera, then turn off all devices to be connected. 1. Connect one end of the AV cable to the AV terminal of the digital camera. 2. Connect the other end to the AV input socket of the TV set. 3. Turn the TV and digital camera on. 4. Playback the images/movie clips. s The method of operation is the same as playing back still images and movie clips on the digital camera. 5. Set the TV to receive its signal from the line-in jack rather than the antenna or cable.

s The sound recorded with movie clips can only be played back on a TV or on a computer.

Deleting Images/Movie Clips

Use this function to delete one or all images/movie clips stored in SD memory card or the internal memory. Please note that the deleted images or movie clips cannot be recovered. Exercise caution before deleting a file. 1. Rotate the mode dial to A , P , v, *) or 4/i and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Press the 0 button. Downloading Your Files

1. Rotate the mode dial to `N, and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Press the four-way controller () to select the [Set-up2] menu, then use the four-way controller (V) to select [USB Mode]. 3. Press the OK button. 4. Use the four-way controller (V) to select [PC], then press the OK button. 5. Turn off your camera. 6. Connect your camera and the computer via the supplied USB cable. 7. Turn your camera on by pressing the power switch. 8. From the Windows desktop, double click on "My Computer". ` 9. Look for a new "removable disk" icon. This "removable disk" is actually the .._`~ memory (or memory card) in your camera. Typically, the camera will be assigned d ive letter "e" or higher. 10. Double click on the removable disk and locate the DCIM folder. 11. There are two types of software that are bundled inside the CD-ROM:

Insert the CD-ROM that came with ViviCam 7330 into your CD-ROM drive. The welcome screen appears. 2. Click the respective software name. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

For more information about the operation of the software, refer to its respective help documentation For Windows 2000/XP users, please make sure to install and use the software in "Administrator" mode. The software is not supported on the Mac.

INSTALLING ADOBE ACROBAT READER

The CD-ROM includes a PDF (portable document format) copy of the user's manual. To view a PDF you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in your computer. Adobe Acrobat Reader is included on the ViviCam 7330 CD-ROM. Using Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can read the user's manual and print sections of interest. 1. Insert the CD-ROM that came with the ViviCam 7330 into theCD-ROM drive. The welcome screen appears. 2. Click "Install Acrobat Reader". Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

USING THE DIGITAL CAMERA AS A PC CAMERA

ViviCam 7330 can act as a PC camera, which allows you to videoconference with business associates, or have a real-time conversation with friends or family. To use the digital camera for videoconferencing, your computer system must include the items as below: Microphone Sound card Speakers or headphones Network or Internet connection

Video conferencing (or video editing) software is not included with the digital camera. This mode is not supported for Mac.

Step I: Install the PC camera driver

The PC-camera driver included in the CD-ROM is exclusively for Windows. The PC camera function is not supported for Mac platforms.

1. Insert the enclosed CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 2. When the welcome screen appears, click "INSTALL PC-CAM DRIVER". Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 3. After the driver installation is completed, restart your computer.

Step 2: Connect the digital camera to your computer

1. Rotate the mode dial to `\, and turn ViviCam 7330 on by pressing the power switch. 2. Use the four-way controller (AV) to select [PC CAM], then press the OK button. 5. Connect your camera and the computer via the supplied USB cable. 6. Position the digital camera steadily on top of your computer monitor or use a tripod.

Step 3: Run your application software (i.e. Yahoo Messenger)

Yahoo Messenger is a free application available at www.yahoo.com. After installing the TWAIN driver in your Windows operating system, restart your computer. You can then use your ViviCam 7330 as a web cam allowing others to see you online. Simply follow the instructions in Yahoo Messenger to start your camera..

The video resolution for videoconferencing applications is generally 320 x 240. s For more information about the operation of videoconference application software, refer to its respective help documentation. s Use of AC adapter is recommended while the camera is used as a PC camera.

CONNECTING TO A PICTBRIDGE-COMPATIBLE PRINTER

Connecting the camera to the printer

Even if you do not have a computer, you can connect ViviCam 7330 directly to a printer that supports PictBridge to perform image selection and printing using the camera screen and controls.

1. Rotate the mode dial to S and turn your camera on by pressing the power switch. 2. Press the four-way controller () to select the [Set-up2] menu, then use the four-way controller (V) to select [USB Mode]. Press the OK button. 3. Use the four-way controller () to select [PictBridge], then press the OK button. 4.
