Product overview
AIR 32

(Antenna Integrated Radio) AIR 32

> Basic principle of AIR (Antenna Integrated Radio) is based on combining the radio
unit with the antenna in a single unit in the usual antenna location

> The active part of the AIR unit consists of one or two RUs integrated into the same
enclosure as the antenna. It is connected to the RBS main unit and is intended to be
used in a Main-Remote configuration in the same fashion as conventional Remote
Radio Units (RRUs). The antenna in the AIR unit is a dual-polarized antenna.
> The passive part of the AIR unit allows connection to an existing RBS with the AIR
unit functioning as a standard antenna. The use of the passive part is optional
> Different installation alternatives are available
> All of the cells at the site are connected to a Digital Unit (DU) that provides
baseband processing for all cells and backhaul for the transport network. Supports
access technologies such as GSM, WCDMA, and LTE, or combinations thereof.

>Key benefits/advantages
- Best RF performance: (about 1 dB improvement for both up-link and down-link
compared to remote radio units)
- Best power efficiency
- Simplified installation: (~30% less man-hour for RRU + antenna configuration for 3-
sector site)

AIR 32 Main Features
(Antenna Integrated Radio) AIR 32
> The AIR product is designed for outdoor installations, intended for pole, wall or
mast mounting.
> The active section or integrated radio section for the 1.4 m unit operates over LTE
Radio Access for Band 4, Band 2, and Band 66A (AWS). The active section of the
2.0m unit operates over Band 7.
>This section provides a 4TX/4RX transceiver (RU) directly mounted and interfaced
to the antenna section. The Active RU is connected to the Digital Unit (DU) located
in the RBS via two fiber optic interface cables providing digital transmission and
control for the RU.
> The AIR antenna section for the 1.4m unit provides both antenna arrays for the
Band 4 (Active) and Band 2 (Passive) functions. The AIR passive section provides an
isolated antenna connection for an external RU operating from a non-related RBS.
Four connections for interface to an external RU are provided.
> The AIR antenna supports multiple frequency bands which can be independently
tilted. The electrical tilt function is achieved by integrated Remote Electrical Tilt
(RET) units.
> Same or similar visual appearance as traditional antennas
> The AIR unit can also be mechanically tilted by using the down tilt installation kit.
