1. What did you feel after doing the activity?

I felt engaged and curious because it made me think about how words are
connected to a concept.
2. What words were you able to form?
Words like setup, structure, layout, system, and arrangement were easily
formed.
3. Have you considered it “Learning with Fun”? If yes, Why? If No, Why?
Yes, because the activity was interactive and allowed me to freely associate
ideas, making learning enjoyable and thought-provoking.

Activity 1.12 – Think It Deeper With A Heart!

Now its time to apply your knowledge in real-life situations. Answer the following
questions in complete sentences.

1. Why is there a need for you to know on how to configure computer

network ?
There is a need to know how to configure a computer network because it
allows you to establish and maintain efficient communication between devices. It
ensures that resources, such as printers, files, and the internet, can be accessed
seamlessly. Proper configuration also enhances security by protecting the
network from unauthorized access.

2. What are the problems you encountered upon doing the network
configuration?
The problems encountered during network configuration may include
incorrect IP address assignments, mismatched network settings, faulty cables or
hardware, and misconfigured firewalls or antivirus programs that block network
connections. These issues often require troubleshooting to resolve.

3. Why is it important to know how to share files and folders over the
network?
It is important to know how to share files and folders over the network because
it enables collaboration and efficient access to resources. Instead of transferring
files manually, users can access shared folders instantly, saving time and
improving productivity, especially in workplaces and academic settings.

4. Is there really a need to have network configuration inspection? Why?

Why not? Defend your answer.
Yes, there is a need to have a network configuration inspection. This ensures
that all network devices are functioning correctly, settings are optimized, and
security protocols are up to date. Regular inspections help detect and prevent
potential vulnerabilities, such as outdated configurations or unauthorized access,
that could disrupt the network's performance or compromise data security.

5. Why is diagnosing network problem important?Elaborate your answer.

Diagnosing network problems is important because it helps identify the root
cause of connectivity or performance issues. By understanding the problem,
appropriate solutions can be implemented to restore the network's functionality.
This minimizes downtime, ensures uninterrupted access to resources, and helps
maintain productivity in both personal and professional environments.

Research: Ways to Share Network Resources Considering

Different Factors

Sharing network resources involves several methods depending on factors such

as operating system versions, network adapter types, and the brand of network
devices. Here's a breakdown:

1. Operating System Version

The method of sharing resources often depends on the operating system (OS)
version, as features and tools may vary.

 Windows (e.g., Windows 7, 10, 11):

o Use HomeGroup (Windows 7 and some versions of Windows 10)

or Network and Sharing Center to share files, printers, and
folders.
o In modern Windows versions, use "Advanced Sharing Settings"
to enable file and printer sharing.
o Tools like OneDrive are integrated for cloud-based resource
sharing.

 MacOS (e.g., Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura):

o Use File Sharing in "System Preferences > Sharing."

o Enable AirDrop for sharing files wirelessly between Apple devices.
o Use iCloud for cloud-based resource sharing.

 Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS):

o Use the Samba server for sharing files and printers with other
Linux or Windows systems.
o NFS (Network File System) is another option for sharing resources
on Linux-based networks.

2. Network Adapter Types (Wired or Wireless)

 Wired Network Adapters (Ethernet):

o Resources are shared over a stable physical connection.

o Steps for sharing resources:

1. Connect devices to the same router or switch.

2. Ensure IP addresses are configured (static or via DHCP).
3. Share folders using OS tools (e.g., Windows File Sharing,
Mac File Sharing).

 Wireless Network Adapters (Wi-Fi):

o Resources are shared over a wireless connection, allowing more
flexibility.
o Tools like Wi-Fi Direct or DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance)
allow sharing files without a router.
o Devices must connect to the same Wi-Fi network for seamless
communication.

3. Brand of Network Devices

The features and compatibility of sharing resources can vary depending on the
brand of network devices used.

 Cisco Network Devices:

o Cisco routers and switches often include advanced resource-

sharing and VLAN segmentation tools.
o Use Cisco Packet Tracer for simulating shared resource setups in
complex networks.

 TP-Link:

o TP-Link routers offer features like USB file sharing (via USB port
on the router) and cloud access through apps like Tether or
Omada.

 Netgear:

o Netgear devices provide ReadySHARE, which enables sharing

USB-connected printers or storage across the network.

 D-Link:

o D-Link devices support shared storage through USB ports and

configuration via their management interface.

 Asus:

o Asus routers often have AiCloud, which allows remote access to

shared network resources.

Summary

 Consider the operating system version to choose compatible sharing

tools (e.g., Samba for Linux, HomeGroup for Windows).
 Select the appropriate sharing method for wired (stable and faster) or
wireless (flexible) networks.
 Leverage brand-specific features like ReadySHARE (Netgear), AiCloud
(Asus), or USB file sharing (TP-Link) for easier configuration and
management.
