Community Service Initiative
Community service is an essential part of developing social responsibility, empathy, and a spirit of volunteerism
among students. Our school organized a comprehensive community service initiative aimed at supporting
vulnerable sections of society, promoting environmental sustainability, and educating the community about
waste management practices. The activities included a charity sale of food items, games to raise funds, a
collection of non-perishable goods for orphanages and homes for the aged, donations of plants, and educational
campaigns about waste segregation in slums.
Objectives
The primary objectives of this community service initiative were:
To raise funds for charitable causes: Through the charity sale and games organized by the school.
To support orphanages and homes for the aged: By collecting non-perishable food and essential
items.
To promote environmental awareness: By donating plants and educating local residents about waste
segregation.
To engage the students in meaningful community outreach: Encouraging them to take part in
activities that help others and contribute to the well-being of society.
A committee of student volunteers of std X was formed to coordinate the different activities, including
managing the charity sale, organizing games, and overseeing the collection and distribution of donations.
Students and teachers raised awareness about the collection of food items and items for donation to orphanages
and homes for the aged. School collaborated with Rainbow Homes an orphanage and Little Sisters of the Poor,
a home for the aged.
Fun and interactive games, nail art, tattoo making etc were set up. The entry fees for the games went towards
supporting the charity initiatives.
Donation boxes were placed in classrooms and common areas, encouraging students and their families to
donate non-perishable food, toiletries, and other essentials.
The school also organized a plant donation drive where students brought in potted plants, which were
distributed to local residents and institutions to promote greenery. During the mango season, our students
worked in collaboration with Gram Samridhi Foundation” where in students brought mango seeds which were
sent to the foundation for the farmers’ sustenance and in maintaining ecological balance.
A team of students organized an awareness campaign in nearby slums, where they educated the residents about
the importance of waste segregation.
This community service project not only benefited the recipients of the donations but also empowered the
students by giving them the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their community. It demonstrated the
powerful impact of collective action in addressing social and environmental issues.
