Introduction
This manual describes: Installation procedure and technical documentation of the gangway
It is important that all persons who operate and maintain the gangway become familiar with
the system and its functions.
Read this manual thoroughly before using the system.

Routines and procedures for operation and maintenance must be followed.

Classification
The following codes and standards were used in the design of the 12 m Docking Gangway.
DNVGL-ST-0358: 2015-12: Certification of offshore gangways for personnel transfer
This 12m Docking Gangway is defined as:

Type 2 – Controlled flow of people, routine personnel transfer, according to DNVGL-ST-0358
chapter 1.4.3
This gangway is not DNVGL-ST-0358 approved.

Mechanical installation
Pedestal
Make sure that the pedestal transition piece and deck interface can withstand the forces.
Use safety factor 1.3 for calculating max forces.
The pedestal must be placed so easy entrance and exit to the gangway is ensured. Consider effects
from wind and waves.
The gangway should be parked on deck in a sea fastening support and secured with fastenings
straps, when not in use.
Slewing limitation
The slewing function right/left is equipped with limitation sensors mounted at the outside of the
staircase, as shown in picture below. Trigger flag for limitation sensors is mounted in front of
pedestal. Sensors can be adjusted closer or further away from trigger flag if necessary. The
limitation sensors are only installed to prevent movement outside maximum slew of the swing
function, approximately +- 170 degrees from centre position of gangway.
REMARK! Limitation sensors for swing function do not work when gangway is swung right/left with
manual levers!
For additional limitation of swing function, extra mechanical stoppers should be provided
during installation of system, to ensure safe operation of gangway due to safety of personnel
and mechanical structure on board.

Main power supply Control cabinet

The main power supply cable Q1 with 3x230VAC + PE should be connected to the top clamps of the
service switch SB1. Service switch SB1 to be mounted on base of gangway/platform for easy
entrance and operation of operator.

The hydraulic pump motor of 18Kw / 3x230VAC/60Hz is supplied from the soft starter SS1 in the
Control cabinet, and is already installed.
Always check rotation direction of hydraulic pump motor during commissioning/start up!

The power supply cable Q40 with 2x230VAC + PE should be connected to the top clamps of the
service switch mounted on the base/platform. Service switch to be mounted on base of
gangway/platform, for operation by operator.
Remark! Do not switch on fuse F13 in Emergency cabinet before oil is filled on hydraulic tank!
The heater of hydraulic tank may get overheated.

Remember to attach power supply cables Q0 and Q41 to cable chain clamps, outside on base of
gangway, as shown on picture below.

During transport platform with Operation console is disconnected from left side of staircase.
Cables below have to be connected to respective connection points inside staircase. Connection
diagram can be found in page above. Cables are lead through black flexible hose which is lead
through gland in left hatch of staircase, below platform.
Yellow control cable Q10 from Operation console to Control cabinet in staircase.
Cable is plugged into RJ45 socket of Switch SH in Control cabinet.
Grey control cable Q11 from Operation console to Control cabinet in staircase.
Cable is connected to clamp connector row X3 in Control cabinet.
Black control cable Q43 from Operation console to battery charger CH1 in staircase.
Cable is plugged into socket at bottom of battery charger CH1.

Light tower on staircase
During transport age light tower at right side of gangway is demounted. Light tower is found inside
Control cabinet and. Cable to light tower is found at top of pipe where light tower should be
mounted. First mount cable of light tower and then screw it on top of pipe. Remember to turn light
tower in anticlockwise a few turn before turn it clockwise on threads of pipe. This to avoid cable to
be twisted too much inside pipe.
Lighting of gangway
According to DNV-ST-0358 point 5.8 satisfactory lighting shall be arranged for the entire gangway,
including rest and landing platform with stairs, etc.
Hydraulic installation
Hydraulic oil tank inside staircase provides oil to main hydraulic pump and emergency hydraulic
pump. Hydraulic oil Univis HVi13 or equal quality to be used.
Tank should be filled with about 80 liters of hydraulic oil to upper range of level gauge, as shown in
picture below. Hydraulic oil level to be measured when telescope retracted and gangway in
horizontal position!
