1. DSLR Camera
It is a camera that combines the mechanics of an SLR camera with a solid state image
sensor and records the images in it digitally. It uses a mirror to show the image through
a viewfinder.
2. Camera Accessories
Any separate devices that ease the effort in photography, including but not limited to -
the flash jack, tripod, light meters, mount adapters etc.
3. Composition and perspective in photography
Composition: arrangement of all visual elements in a frame in a way that is aesthetic
and serves a purpose.
Perspective: the spatial arrangement between the subject and the space around them to
create an effect of depth or distance.
4. Depth of Focus and Depth of Field
Depth of focus: The relationship between the camera lens and the image plan. It has to
do with the way that movement of the image plane towards or away from the lens affects
the focus.
Depth of field: how much of an image is in focus.
5. Lens, Sensor, Shutter and View Finder
Lens: a tool to bring light to a fixed focal point and to shoot pictures.
Sensor: a solid-state device that uses millions of light-sensitive pixels to absorb photons
of light and transform them into electrical impulses. After being translated by a computer
chip, these electrical signals are used to create a digital image.
Shutter: a light blocking gate that controls the amount of time the light can reach the
sensor to create an image.
Viewfinder: The part of a camera that lets us see what the lens is seeing through
reflected light and a mirror situated inside the camera.
6. Type of lenses and special purpose lenses.
There are different types of lens such as macro, zoom, wide-angle, fish-eye, prime lens,
standard lens etc. They are used depending on the need and subject of the photo. Zoom
lens are used in wildlife, while prime lens can be used in portrait photography.
With the aid of special effects lenses, photographers can produce in-camera effects like
those found in digital editing suites. These consist of selective blur, soft focus, and
shallow depth of field. You may adjust the focus plane and get extremely close-up
images with different lenses.
