NARRATIVE REPORT OF SCHEDULE

1. INTRODUCTION

The Kachhi Canal will off-take from Taunsa Barrage at Indus in Punjab province and will
irrigate about 713,000 acres culturable command area in the Kachhi Plain of Balochistan
province. Before entering the Balochistan, the proposed Kachhi Canal will run parallel to
the existing D.G. Khan Canal, Dajal Branch and proposed Dajal Branch Extension on their
right-hand side for about 300 km. The proposed length of main Kachhi Canal in
Balochistan province is about 200 km. Kachhi Canal will provide irrigation facilities only in
Balochistan.

KC-6B-(2R) area encompasses the district Dera Bugti of Balochistan province. This contract
represents a patch of command area of around 11132 acres (GA) and a portion of about
18 km of main Kachhi Canal out of total 200 km portion within Balochistan province. KC-
6B (2R) falls on right hand side of existing Pat Feeder Canal. The KC-6B (2R) area is
accessible through one metalled road from Sui to Dera Allahyar, one metalled road from
Dera Allahyar to Uch Gas Plant Colony, one shingle road from Sui to Sigari Patt and
various Kacha tracks usable under fair weathering conditions.

The ROW, lines, boundaries and limits are shown on the Drawings. All such areas shown
on the Drawings along with any additional areas adjacent thereto as may be designated
by the Engineer from time to time for construction to be performed under the contract
shall comprise the Site of Works.

The Schedule of the Kacchi Canal Project KC-6B (2R) is a key for successful completion of
the project. The peak of resource requirement and daily targets are all depended on
schedule of the project.

2 SCOPE

The Contract KC-6B (2R), (this contract) covers the construction of main Kachhi Canal from
RD 1193 to RD 1252 and the distribution system related to above said part of main canal.
The detail of major works to be carried under this contract including the earthwork and
structures on main canal and distribution system and lining of distributaries is as under:

The project will be supervised by a Project Manager. The quantities distribution summary
derived from the scheduled activities; quantities given are used for calculating the peak
resource requirement. The planned resources will be monitored through actual progress
of work. The actual efficiencies & productivity of resources will be further used to re-plan
the resources requirement.

3. CONTRACTUAL / EMPLOYER REQUIREMENT

The contract requires the completion of following works of the Project, the stipulated
period of 15 Months.

4. WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE

The Scope of Earthwork is divided into Three manageable sections / WBS.

Structural works shall be executed with the respective section or zone wise. The major
structures shall start immediately after receiving the construction drawings due to huge
quantum of work is involved in structural works.

5. ORGANIZATIONAL BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE

Project Manager will be the head of the project who will be responsible for whole of the
project. Each Section headed by an Engineer which comprises the team of Supervisor,
Skilled and unskilled labour to execute the activities in their respective zone. Planning,
Survey and Production teams will assist Construction Manager for the smooth operations
in all zones. Construction Manager will be the key person who will supervise the whole
construction activities of the project. The Estimated detail of the Manpower deployment
at site will be generated through targets.

6. MOBILIZATION

The Mobilization will be managed in two phases as per payment plan. In phase -1, the
mobilization of key person, Camp Construction (Lab& Office) and Mobilization of
concrete equipment will be done after receiving the 1st part of the mobilization advance.

In 2nd phase, the remaining activities like Arrangement of Site Offices, Arrangement of
Residential accommodations, Mobilization of Earthwork equipment, Mobilization of other
equipment will be done along with procurement of materials & deployment of direct
manpower after receiving the 2nd part of mobilization advance.

7. RESOURCE PLANNING & PROPOSED EQUIPMENT

The resource has been planned as per standard planning techniques indicated below.
Evaluation of daily targets in each section.

• Estimated production rates of major equipment.

Dozer – 100 – 120 Cum/hr Dumper – 15-24 Cum/hr

Transit Mixer – 3-6 Cum/hr Roller – 60 – 80 Cum/hr
Excavator - 45-75 Cum/hr Batch Plant – 30 Cum/hr
Generator - Grader – 80-120 Cum/hr
Lining Machine – 20-25 Cum/hr Concrete Pump – 10 – 20 Cum/hr

• Actual production rates will be worked out as per physical progress of work and will
be incorporated in the revised schedule.

• Optimization of Resources

The theoretical requirement will be optimized through physical progress of the

project by Site and Head Office Management.

• Material Requirement.
Major Material will be arranged at site as per planned daily quantity targets of the
project.

If the peak required Equipment will be raises more than planned then the CPM or
Standard Primavera techniques will be used to truncate the peak resources requirement.

8. CRITICAL ACTIVITIES

As defined in attached Schedule.

9. CALENDERS

All the project works can be performed during the whole calendar years, therefore normal
working calendar as per Government rule will be followed.
