MAIN OBJECTIVES MATERIALS


● Familiarize students with Unit 6 vocabulary, associating words with 1. Flashcard Unit 5
images and practicing verbal recall. 2. Sticky ball
● Practice using the structure “There’s a ____ next to/in front
of/behind the ____” and responding to location-based questions
● Improve listening skills and the ability to identify vocabulary words
in context.
● Learn prepositions (next to, in front of, behind) and apply them to
describe object locations.
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS
● Some students may struggle to grasp spatial relationships
● Some students may feel shy speaking in pairs or groups.
● Younger students may lose focus during extended activities

ASSUMPTIONS
● Students know vocabulary from previous units and pages
● Students are comfortable with listening tasks and can follow along with simple instructions.
● Students are used to working in pairs or small groups, promoting social and language practice.

Stage Est Timing Activity

I. Pre-lesson 30 minutes 1. Activity 1: Game “Shouting in Silence”


Objective: Reinforce vocabulary
Instructions:
- The team will stand in a line and turn their backs to
each other
- 1 student standing at the end of the line will wear
headphones with the volume high
- The students will take turns passing a vocabulary
word to each other and the student at the end must
guess what the word is.
2. Activity 2: Game “Flashcard Match”
Objective: Review grammar
Instructions:
- Students in 2 teams will take turns choosing hidden
pictures to find the right puzzle piece.
- If the 2 pictures did not match, students will have
to make sentences based on the structure the
teacher wrote on the board.
Ex: Is he/she playing the guitar?
Yes he/she is
No, he/she isn’t

Break time 10 minutes

II. While-lesson 50 minutes

A. Listen, Point, and 10 minutes Objective: Introduce new vocabulary.


Say Instructions:
● Use flashcards to introduce each new vocabulary word.
Pronounce each word clearly and have the students repeat
after you.
● After introducing the words, place all flashcards on the
board in random order.
● Call on individual students to come up, select a flashcard,
and write the correct word beneath the matching picture.

B. Listen and number 10 minutes Instructions:


● Have the students sit in a circle for better focus and
engagement.
● Explain the pictures, briefly going over each one to ensure
understanding.
● Play the audio twice. In the first round, students simply
listen. In the second round, they listen and number the
pictures accordingly.
● Go over the correct answers as a group to reinforce
understanding.

C. Listen, Ask, and 15minutes


Answer. Then Objective: Teach students spatial prepositions (next to, in front of,
Practice behind) and the sentence structure “There’s a _____ next to/in front
of/behind the ______.”.

Instructions:

● Introduce the prepositions using flashcards or real objects in


the classroom to demonstrate “next to,” “in front of,” and
“behind.”
● Teach the sentence structure on page 53, emphasizing
correct preposition usage.
● Game: Target Toss Practice
○ Instructions:
■ Pair up students and give each pair a
number.
■ Place a ball in the middle of the classroom.
■ Call out a number, and the corresponding
pair races to grab the ball.
■ The student with the ball must form a
sentence using the target structure (e.g.,
"There's a book next to the chair").
■ If the student successfully hits the target
drawn on the board, their team scores a
point.

D. Listen, Ask and 15 minutes Objective: Teach students the grammar question format on page 50:
Answer, Then “Is there a ______ next to/in front of/behind the ______?” with
Practice responses “Yes, there is” and “No, there isn’t.”
Instruction:
● Demonstrate by asking a few example questions, using
flashcards on the board for visual cues.
● Practice the structure with the students by having them
form questions and answers in pairs.
● Game: Pass the Ball
○ Instructions:
■ Arrange students in a circle.
■ Play music as students pass a ball around.
■ Stop the music randomly; the student
holding the ball must ask the person beside
them a question using the target structure
(e.g., “Is there a pen next to the book?”).
■ The partner answers based on the
flashcards displayed on the board.
