Bafang DPC-18 DISPLAY MANUAL

Normal Display Interface

Button Definition:
Normal Operation

On/off switch
To turn on the display, press and hold the ON/OFF button. Press and hold the ON/OFF button
again to turn off the display.
If the controls are not operated and the bike is not used for 5 minutes (this time can be set in
“Auto Off”) the display will automatically turn off. If the password function of the display is
activated, you will need to input the correct password to enter the normal display interface.

Power assistance level select


With the display powered on, briefly press the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to switch the level
of power assistance. The lowest level is Level 0, the highest Level 5. When the display is on,
the default mode is Level 1. “Level 0” means no power assistance.

Switch between Distance Mode and Speed Mode


Briefly press the MODE button to switch the display between the distance, speed and other
information. Information will cycle through in the following order: signal-trip distance (TRIP) →
total distance (ODO) → maximum speed (MAX) → average speed (AVG) → remaining
distance (RANGE) → energy consumption (CALORIES) → time (TIME). The energy
consumption unit of CALORIES means kCal.
Display Backlight/Headlight Switch
Press and hold the LIGHT button to turn on the display backlight as well as the bike headlight.
Press and hold the LIGHT button again to turn off the display backlight and the headlight.
There are 5 levels of backlight brightness that can be selected by the user (can be set in
“Brightness”).
*If the display is turned on in a dark environment, the display backlight/ headlight will
be turned on automatically. The sensitivity of this can be changed. If the display
backlight/headlight are turned off manually, they also need to be turned on manually
afterwards.

Walk assistance mode


Press and hold the LEVEL- button to enter walk assistance mode. The walking mode symbol
will be displayed in the PAS level area. To exit walk assistance mode, release the LEVEL- key.

Riding Mode Selection


Press and hold the LEVEL+ button to switch the bike between ECO and SPORT mode.
Note: Not all DPC-18 Displays have the ECO and SPORT mode feature. Biktrix does not
guarantee that a replacement or new DPC-18 Display will have this feature.
User Settings
Detailed below is the operating process for changing the user settings

Entering the “SETTING” interface.


After turning on the display, briefly press the Mode button two times to enter the “SETTING”
interface. This interface includes the three options: “Display setting”, “Information” and “EXIT”.

Operating within the “SETTING” interface


Briefly press the LEVEL+ and LEVEL- buttons to switch your selected option. LEVEL+ will
move your selection up and LEVEL- will move your selection down.

To change a setting use the Mode button when it is selected to confirm and enter it. Next use
the LEVEL+ and LEVEL- buttons to make any changes. To finish press the MODE button to
exit from changing that setting.

To exit the setting interface at any time by briefly pressing the Mode button twice at any time.
You can also use the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to select “EXIT” and select this with the
Mode button. Any changes made will be saved by exiting with these two methods.

If there is no operation within this interface for 20 seconds the settings interface will be exited
with no changes being saved.
Entering the “Display setting” interface
In the “SETTING” interface, select “Display setting” and then briefly press the Mode button to
confirm and enter “Display setting”. There are thirteen options in this interface.

(1) “Unit” - switch units between km and mile


Select “Unit” in the “Display Setting” interface. Press the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to select
“Metric”/ “Imperial”, and then briefly press the MENU button to save the setting and exit back
to the “Display Setting” interface.

(2) “Brightness” – set the Display Brightness


Select “Brightness” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to change the percentage from “100%/75%/50%/30%/10%”. 100% is the
brightest, 10% is the darkest. After selecting the brightness level, press the MENU button
again to save the setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

(3) “Auto Off”- set the Automatic Off time


Select “Auto Off” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to switch the Automatic Off time from “OFF/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1”. The unit is
minutes. After selecting the Automatic Off time, press the MENU button again to save the
setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

NOTE: Depending on the version of the display you have this below Option may be “Default
Mode” or “MAX PAS”. Biktrix does not warranty this feature and cannot guarantee which
version of the display you may receive.

(4.1) “Default Mode” - set bike’s default power mode


Select “Default Mode” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to select which power mode the bike will start in between “ECO” and
“SPORT”. After selecting the default power mode, press the MENU button again to save the
setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.
(4.2) “MAX PAS” - set the number of PAS Levels on the eBike
Select “MAX PAS” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to select the number of PAS Levels the bike will have, this can be set to 3, 5
or 9. After selecting the number of PAS Levels, press the MENU button again to save the
setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

(5) “Power View” - set the power output display mode


Select “Power View” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to switch the power output display mode as “Power” or “Current”. After
selecting the power view, press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit back to
the “Display Setting” interface.

(6) “SOC View” --- set display mode for battery capacity
Select “SOC View” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to switch display mode for battery level as “Percent” or “Voltage”. After
selecting your preferred State of Charge view, press the MENU button again to save the
setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.
(7) “TRIP Reset” - reset function for single-trip distance
Select “TRIP Reset” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to switch between “NO” and “YES”. TRIP Reset will reset the maximum
speed (MAXS), average speed (AVG), single-trip distance (TRIP) values. After performing this
action, briefly press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit back to the “Display
Setting” interface.

(8) “Wheel” - set the wheel diameter


This setting will not need to be changes unless you are changing the wheel size on your bike.
If you are changing wheel sizes, select “Wheel” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once
selected, press the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to select the wheel diameter as
“6/7/8/…/32/33/34”. After selecting your bike’s wheel diameter, press the MENU button again
to save the setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

(9) “Speed Limit” - set motor cut-off speed limit


Select “Speed Limit” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to select the motor speed cut-off limit as “10/11/12/…/58/59/60”. After
selecting your preferred Speed Limit, press the MENU button again to save the setting and
exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

(10) “AL Sensitivity” - set light sensitivity for headlight auto turn on
Select “AL Sensitivity” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to switch the level of the light sensitivity between “0/1/2/3/4/5/OFF”. “OFF”
means the function will be disabled. Level 1 is the weakest light sensitivity and level 5 is the
strongest light sensitivity. After selecting your preferred AL Sensitivity setting, press the MENU
button again to save the setting and exit back to the “Display Setting” interface.

(11) “Factory Setting”- restore factory settings


Select “Factory Setting” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+
or LEVEL- buttons to select “YES” / “NO”. Select “YES” press the MENU button. When the
display shows “OK”, it means it has successfully restored the factory settings. After
performing this action, press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit back to the
“Display Setting” interface.

(12) “Password”- boot password setting


Select “Password” in the “Display Setting” interface. Once selected, press the LEVEL+ or
LEVEL- buttons to select “Start Password” and then press the MENU button again. Next,
press the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to switch between “OFF” / “ON”. Below is the specific
method for setting and changing the start-up password.

Starting password:
Enter the “Start Password” option and select “ON”. Press the MENU button, and then the
display will show input password. Next, press the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons to switch the
numbers “0-9”, and then press the MENU button to confirm the inputted number. Repeat this
process for all 4 digits. Next, the display will show Please Confirm Your Password. Repeat the
previous step to input that same password again. If the password is same as the previous
time, the system will prompt it has successfully set the password. Otherwise, you will need to
repeat from the start of the “Starting Password” procedure.
After setting the password, press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit back to
the “Display Setting” interface.

Changing password
After setting your password, the “Password” setting will have an added option of “Reset
Password”. Select “Reset Password” using the LEVEL+ or LEVEL- buttons and enter using
the MENU button. This time it will prompt you to input the current password for the interface. If
you input the wrong password ten times, the display will turn off automatically. After inputting
the right password, the display will prompt you to input a new password. The following
procedure is the same as “Starting Password”. After changing the password, the display will
exit automatically back to the original interface within two seconds.

Cancel password
Enter the “Start Password” interface and select “OFF” Next, the display will prompt you to
input the current password in the interface. If you input the wrong password ten times, the
display will turn off automatically. After inputting the correct password, it will prompt success
for cancelling password required start-up in the interface. After cancelling the password, the
display will exit automatically back to the original interface within two seconds.
(12) “Set Clock”- time setting
Select “Set Clock” in the “Display Setting” interface. The time is represented in the 24-hour
system. The cursor will stay at the first digit of the clock. Press the LEVEL+ and LEVEL-
buttons to change the selected digit. Press the MENU button to advance to the next digit.
After setting the correct time, press the MENU button again to save the setting and exit back
to the “Display Setting” interface.

Error Code Definition


The DPC18 display can show e-bike faults. When a fault is detected, the wrench icon will be
displayed. One of the following error codes will be displayed.
