    impacting communities around the world in various ways. The effects of climate
    change are far-reaching, affecting not only the environment but also the health,
    economy, and security of communities worldwide. This essay will explore how
    climate change has impacted communities around the world, with a focus on the
    following controlling ideas: health risks, economic consequences, and national
    security threats.
    Firstly, climate change has led to a significant increase in health risks for
    communities around the world. Rising temperatures and extreme weather events,
    such as heatwaves, storms, and floods, have resulted in a higher incidence of heat-
    related illnesses, infectious diseases, and injuries. For instance, a study published
    in The Lancet found that between 2000 and 2016, there were over 125,000 deaths
    attributable to heatwaves worldwide (Hess et al., 2018). Moreover, climate change
    has also led to the spread of vector-borne diseases, such as malaria and dengue
    fever, as warmer temperatures create more favorable conditions for disease-
    carrying insects.
    Secondly, the economic consequences of climate change have been significant,
    with many communities experiencing losses in productivity, infrastructure damage,
    and increased costs associated with adaptation and mitigation efforts. For example,
    the World Bank estimates that climate change could push an additional 100 million
    people into poverty by 2030, as the impacts of climate change disproportionately
    affect the most vulnerable populations (World Bank, 2016). Additionally, the costs
    associated with climate-related disasters have been staggering, with the United
    Nations estimating that the economic losses from natural disasters have increased
    five-fold since the 1980s (United Nations, 2019).
    Finally, climate change has emerged as a significant threat to national security, as
    the impacts of climate change can exacerbate existing tensions and conflicts,
    particularly in regions that are already resource-scarce or politically unstable. For
    instance, rising temperatures and changing precipitation patterns can lead to water
    scarcity, which can fuel conflicts over this vital resource. Moreover, climate change
    can also contribute to the displacement of people, as rising sea levels and extreme
    weather events force communities to migrate. This displacement can lead to social
    unrest and conflict, as communities struggle to adapt to new environments and
    compete for resources.
    In conclusion, climate change has had a profound impact on communities around
    the world, affecting health, economy, and national security. The health risks
    associated with climate change have led to an increase in heat-related illnesses
    and infectious diseases, while the economic consequences have resulted in
    productivity losses, infrastructure damage, and increased costs. Furthermore,
