5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1.1 Qualification
Test operator shall be trained to be able to perform the test and instrument calibration.
5.1.2 Equipment
5.1.3 Calibration
5.1.3.1 In process calibration checks shall be performed by tester before each shift using calibration
block.
Procedure
The surface on which the impression is to be made shall be clean and completely free of scale
oxides, grease, paints etc. as specified by the instrument manufacturer, cleaning may be
done by machining, polishing or any mechanicals process.
- Each weld shall be covered by minimum one location, in this location five readings shall be taken
(weld metal. 2 HAZ, 2 base metal) across the face of weld Axis, at each reading minimum three
values to be taken and averaged to determine hardness value
5.1.5.2 for areas of arc strike removal and temporary attachment removal
- For areas of arc strike removal, minimum of three readings to be taken and averaged to determine
hardness value.
- For areas of temporary attachment removal, the area shall be divided into four quarters; three
readings to be taken and averaged at each quarter to determine hardness value.
5.1.5.3 If test results do not meet the requirements, three additional readings on the same area of
interest shall be taken.
5.1.6 Temperature
5.1.7.1 1 Hardness value shall be within acceptable value as stated in code or client specification,
which in any case shall not exceed the value of 225 HB
5.1.7.2 lithe hardness value doses not meet the required value, a NCR shall be issued and to be
raised to the client.
5.1.8.1 Repair works shall be conducted according DD repair procedure No. (HAC-CM-GOO-DC-
00017)

Procedure
Hardness test inspection reports shall be issued: the report shall contain as a minimum the
following information:
1- Customer /supplier
3- Date
5- Type of material
9- Test status
For NEI3 tank, the test will be done as required by ITP no. (HAC-CM-51-DC-00002).
