Sub: Selection of Investigating Inspector (Vig.)/Traffic, Railway Board in level 7 of
pay matrix in Vigilance Directorate, Railway Board.
In order to fill up ex-cadre posts of Investigating Inspector (Vigilance)/Railway Board
in level 7 of pay matrix in Vigilance Directorate, Railway Board, it has been decided to hold
selection for forming a panel of 13 candidates from Trafic/Commercialffraffic Accounts
departments and 5 candidates from RPFIRPSF departments.

2. Eligibility:

(i) Staff working in Traffic/Commercial/Traffic Accounts departments and in Railway


Protection Force/Railway Protection Special Force in Level 7 of pay matrix, or one
level below, i.e., in level 6 of pay matrix, on a regular basis.

(ii) Railway officials working in level 8 of pay matrix at Zonal Railways are also eligible
to apply. However, they will be posted along with the level 8 post on co-terminus
basis and if needed, level 7 element of II(Vig.)/Railway Board may be transferred to
lien unit.

(iii) Candidates should have 05 years of field/line experience in relevant field as on


10.12.2024 (i.e. last date of submission of application).

(iv) Staff who have already completed their tenure of three years in Vigilance Organisation
of Zonal Railway/Units/Railway Board as Chief Vigilance Inspector/ Investigating
Inspector (Vig.)/RB are not eligible to apply. However, if they have completed
sufficient cooling off period (minimum 02 years) as on 10.12.2024, thereafter they are
also eligible to apply.

(v) The staff should have sound integrity, should not be figuring in any current
Vigilance/SPE/DAR case and should not have been imposed any major/minor penalty
in any past vigilance case.

(vi) Staff should have working knowledge of computer.

(vii) Candidates should necessarily be less than 55 years of age as on 10.12.2024.

3. Selection procedure

The selection will comprise of a written test followed by a Vigilance Aptitude and
Computer Knowledge Test. The candidates who obtain at least 60% marks in the written
test will be called for the Vigilance Aptitude and Computer Knowledge Test.
4. Tenure of posting:

These posts have been kept as tenure posts. The nonnal tenure of Investigating Inspector
(Vig)/Railway Board is 3 years which is extendable upto 5 years in individual cases of
special merit. The selection of Investigating Inspector (Vig)/Railway Board is purely on
temporary basis and whenever his services are not required he may be repatriated to his
parent cadre of Zonal Railway.

5. Zonal Railways may note that officials working in level 8 of pay matrix and selected for
the post of II(Vig.) Railway Board shall be transferred to Railway Board along with the
post of level 8 on co-terminus basis after selection and the element of Railway Board at
level 7 will be transferred to the lien unit of the candidates till their posting in Vigilance
Directorate.

6. Applications of the eligible volunteers should be duly filled up in the enclosed proforma
and submitted through proper channel duly forwarded by their Controlling Officer, to
Vigilance Department of Zonal Railway/PU. Vigilance Department of Zonal Railway/PU
shall forward the applications of only eligible volunteers to the Vigilance Directorate of
Railway Board along with the current Vigilance/SPE/DAR clearance and the past
vigilance history of each applicant.

7. The last date of receipt of applications from the Zonal Railways/Units in the Board's

office is 10 December, 2024 (Tuesday). The Zonal Railways/Units may ensure that the
applications of eligible staff only are forwarded to Board's office before the due date. In
case no application is received by the Zonal Railways/Units, the same may also be
advised to this office by the due date. These are also available on Railway Board website
www.indianrailways.gov.in from where the details can be downloaded readily.

8. Zones/PUs may ensure that only the applications of eligible staff having proven integrity
are forwarded. The applications received through the Zonal Railway/Unit Vigilance
Department will only be entertained.

9. Vacancy circular may please be given wide publicity and this should also be displayed
prominently on notice boards for information of the staff.
