Headline: “Discovering Pico's Hidden Treasure: The Magnificent Pico River Watershed”

There is a hidden paradise in Benguet’s charming village of La Trinidad just waiting to be

found. A stunning natural gem that has been overlooked for far too long is the Pico River
Watershed, which is hidden away in the rolling hills of Pico. This untouched watershed is a
remarkable gold mine of biodiversity, history, and unity. It is filled with life and rich in cultural
legacy.

“The Pico River Watershed is a lifeline for our community,” says Maria Rosario, a member
of the Pico River Watershed Management Council and community member. “It provides water for
our farms, our homes, and our families. We must protect it for future generations.” The
watershed's sparkling rivers, gushing waterfalls, and abundant greenery combine to produce an
amazing, humble, and breathtaking setting. "The Pico River Watershed is an essential part of the
region's ecosystem. Its preservation is important for maintaining species and ensuring
sustainable development," said Dr. Ricardo Calderon, an environmental science professor at
Benguet State University. The Pico River Watershed has profound cultural value in addition to its
natural beauty. For generations, indigenous groups have lived in this watershed, which is the
ancestral home of the Ibaloi and Kankanaey tribes. "Our ancestors lived in harmony with nature,"
says Kankanaey tribe elder Juanito Duguyan. "We must continue their legacy by protecting the
watershed and preserving our traditional knowledge." However, there are many dangers to the
Pico River Watershed. The validity of the watershed is seriously threatened by pollution, climate
change, and human activity. "We've seen changes in the water quality and quantity over the
years," Rosario says. "We must act now to prevent further degradation." In response,
government organizations, non-governmental organizations, and local groups have teamed up to
safeguard this valuable resource. In order to monitor water quality, create sustainable
management plans, and carry out conservation efforts, the Pico River Watershed Management
Council was founded in 2018. "We're working with local communities to promote sustainable
agriculture practices, reforestation, and eco-tourism," states Dr. Calderon. "By supporting
conservation efforts, we can ensure the watershed's integrity and provide economic benefits for
local communities."

The natural and cultural wealth of the Philippines Is shown at the Pico River Watershed. By
working to protect this undiscovered treasure, we pay tribute to our forefathers and secure a
sustainable future for future generations. Experience the beauty of this undiscovered gaze and
join the effort to preserve the Pico River Watershed. “We owe it to ourselves, our children, and
our ancestors to protect the Pico River Watershed,” Duguyan says. “Let us work together to
preserve this treasure for all time.”
