In India the burden of breast cancer is 2.2 lachs. Approximatly 98,337 deaths are recorded due to
breast cancer. The high mortality rate in Mizoram ,Ahmedebad,Kollam, Thiruvanthapura, however
pasighat has low rate. In south East Asia region are expected to increase to 61.7%by 2040. The
incidence rate of breast cancer in India is 32.0 per 100,000 women. The Indian government has
responded by launching (AB-PMJAY) Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana,which aim
to reduce financial barriers for cancer treatment.and the theme of 2024 is “No one should face breast
cancer alone”. The goal is to raise awerness and drive behaviour change to increase early diagnosis and
screening. (NCDIR) National Center For Disease Informatics and Reasearch, has been close monitoring
cancer tends.
In telangana 52500 new breast cancer cases are recorded, about 35.5% of cancer among women
of telangana are breast cancer the crude rate for 100000 population is 109.8 among women while the
incidence of breast cancer is close to 50,which will increase to 63.79 by 2037. Every year 14 to 15 lakhs
acses are registered in india every year, 50000 to 60000 cases are registered in telangana the highest
crude rate is recorded in Hyderabad, Warangal urban and siricilla. Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund
(HMCPF) with Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) in 2009 and Regional Cancer Centers (RCC) in 2004
Minister Damodar raja narasimha launched this program to set up 6 cancer regional centers across the
state while mobile labs would offer free screening in every village.
Globally breast cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide with 2.3 million cases in
2023, 685000 deaths has been recorded.’Breast cancer incidence rates vary by region, with highest rate
in Australia/New Zealand, Western Europe and Northern America. The world health organizations
(WHO) aim to reduce breast cancer mortality by 2.5% per year, as the initiative’s goals are to: promote
health for early detection, ensure timely diagnosis and provide comprehensive breast cancer
management. Countries with excellent breast cancer care includes United states, Germany, South Korea,
India, Israel and Japan are known for their excellence in breast cancer care.

In India 2023, 178000 new cases of breast cancer are recorded and over 2.2 lakh cases
estimated of breast cancer, which is about 10% more than the 2019 number. The number of deaths
from breast cancer also increased by about 10% to 82,429 in 2023. the five year age standardized
relative survival (ASRS) rate for breast cancer in India was 66.4%. However, survival rates vary across
the country, with a 33% disparity. Kerala has the highest crude rate of DALYs, with 733.9 per 100,000
women. Meghalaya had the lowest burden with 142.4 DALYs per 100,000 women. Early detection
strategies and improved access to quality care improve breast cancer survival. Uttar pradesh,
Maharashtra, West Bengal,Tamil nadu,Mumbai,delhi and Bihar reported the highest number of breast
cancer cases and deaths. the government launched national center for diseases informatis and research
(NCDIR) for the monitoring of cancer prevalence’s, mortality rate and other prevention statagices.
In karimnagar the Breast cancer is a significant health concern in 2023,1 in 22 urban and 1 in60
rural women affecting.under the NCD program the screening at village level are going and due to
several life style modifications the breast cancer causes are increasing. In karimnagar the cancer was
occurring in the age of below 50 years and according to the district census 106 cases are recorded and
Jagityal with 81 cases. Every 10 minutes a women is succumbing to breast cancer. breast cancer has
become a leading cause for mortality among the women in the country. The government appealing
women to break silence and remove the tabbo on breast cancer.
In India According to the national cancer registry programme (NCRP), under the Indian Council
of Medical Research- National Center for Disease for Informatics and Research (ICMR- NCDIR),
Bangalore there were approximately 1,461,427 new cancer cases in India in 2022, with Breast cancer
being the leading type among females. The breast cancer occurs in every country of the world in
women at any age after puberty, but with increasing rates in later life. Approximately 0.5 to 1%
occurring in males also. India ranks highest in number of estimated breast cancer deaths 98,337 for the
year 2022 among females.The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) has implemented a
breast cancer population screening program for women aged 30-69 years. However, only 1.6% of
women in this age group have ever undergone breast cancer screening.
