Q1. Tell me something about yourself.

A1. It is one of the first questions or standard opener to know more about the
candidate. It is asked to check the communication skills and self-awareness of the
candidate.

It’s the chance for the candidate to leave the first impression. So, candidates
have to start with the following:

Start with your name and your current profile

Academic record
Work Experience
Achievements
It’s always advised not to mention too much personal information in your HR round.

Q2. What have you done after graduation/post-graduation?

A2. This question is usually asked when you have a gap in your resume (it may be
after your degree or after any job) to know what you were doing.

If your resume has such a gap, accept it and be intelligent and honest to answer it
positively.

You may mention the reason like:

Learning new sets of skills to be more suitable for the profile

Mental or Health Issues
Looking for a job
If you have any employment gaps, then,

Try to reduce the small gaps

Q3. What are your skills? Do you have any certification on that?
A3. This question is asked to know more about the core skills you will provide to
the company.

It depends on the role. If you are appearing for any technical position, the
interviewer is interested in your programming skills (like C, C++, JAVA, Python,
etc.). If you are for a finance role, the interviewer is interested in which
courses you have taken, such as B.Com/BBA/MCom/MBA/MA economics, etc.

Q4. Tell us about your previous organizations and your role.

A4. The interviewer wants to know more about your job profile in your previous and
current organizations. The interviewer will try to judge your tone and attitude
through these questions. You have to approach these questions satisfactorily,
whether you have a good or bad experience with your previous organization.

You can approach these questions:

Q5. What are your weaknesses and strengths?

A5. This question is again asked to know more about what you have gained from your
past experiences.

For Strength, you can mention:

Honest
Creative
Flexible to learn new things
Focused
For Weaknesses, you can mention:
Competitive
Introvert
Self-Critical
Financial Literacy

Q6. Are you willing to relocate?

A6. This question is asked to know whether you are available to come to the office
if you are residing far from the office. TCS has centred almost everywhere, and in
some states, it has more than one centre. So it is not difficult to get into it.
However, some of the offices have particular vacancies for specific job profiles.

Depending upon your situation, you can answer the question:

Q7. What is your salary expectation?

A7. It is one of the straightforward questions asked in the HR round and quite
tricky for candidates, whether they are fresher or experienced.

To answer this question:

Put your answer in a range based on your previous salary or based on research
Be open or flexible to other compensation options
Avoid giving any fixed number

If you are willing to work across pan-India

If you are interested in the role but unable to relocate
Don’t mention Multitasking as one of your strengths. It may become a weakness, as
multitasking reduces productivity, which is not suitable for the company’s health.

I had a great learning experience and improved my skills to work on

work-life balance.

domains, such as engineers from other domains who are changing jobs in Data Science
or Management.

Q8. What do you know about TCS?

and whether you are interested in the company.

You can approach this question in the following way:

tricky. These types of questions are asked to check whether your future goals are
in line with the company’s goal or not.

Tips (Do’s):

Outline a career path

Discuss your interest in the job
State your goals as a result

For longer intervals, mention it as your own job/business

Take time off to relax and return with full enthusiasm again

Q11. What do you expect from the company?

A11. This type of question is asked to determine whether the role you are applying
for is a good match for your career or not. The interviewer is willing to know what
you want from the company in terms of environment, growth, and how you will meet
your expectations.

Q12. Do you have any questions for me?
