Introduction (3 minutes)

Topic 1: Advancement of Internet Technology: A Progressive Timeline of Key Milestones (5

minutes)
Subtopics:
● The Beginning of Technical Programming and Repairing
● The Age of Technological Transformation
● The Pinnacle of Technological Advancement

Topic 2: Greatest Innovations (5 minutes)

The internet has been a pedestal for multifarious innovations that altered the world’s perspective.
Here are the greatest progress of mankind’s internet technology:

1. World Wide Web (WWW)

The World Wide Web is responsible for ensuring the Internet's accessibility to the public.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, in 1989, initially planned a way to make the Internet accessible to
the general public through the help of a web browser, which transformed the Internet to
be easily navigable and led to the availability of E-commerce, Online Communication,
and Information.

2. Search Engines
3. Social Media Platforms
4. Cloud Computing
5. E-commerce
6. Mobile Smartphones and Internet
7. Streaming Services
8. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Decentralized Technology
9. Blockchain
10. Cybersecurity Innovations
11. 5G and beyond
12. Voice and Virtual Assistants
13. Open-source Software and Collaboration

Pioneers and Visionaries Who Shaped the Digital World

Tim Burners-Lee (Founder of WWW)

Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Founders of Google)
Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX)
Steve Jobs (Former CEO of Apple)
Jeff Bezos (CEO of Amazon)
Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Facebook)
Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI)

Topic 4: Status quo of Technology (7 minutes)

The term “Status quo” refers to the preference of humans for preserving things as what they are
now, which means it provides a point of stability and continuity, However it is also subject to
change when new technologies develop and disrupt the existing equilibrium since many
industries are continually evolving, with research, development, and innovations propelling the
status quo onward.
● Impact of the Status Quo
The status quo of technology influences almost every area of modern life, from how we work,
interact, and learn to how economies and societies are constructed, as evidenced by different
dimensions of society, business, and human life. It determines what is feasible, practicable, and
broadly recognized in terms of technology capabilities and applications. While it can accelerate
progress, it has limitations and drawbacks. Individuals, businesses, and governments may make
better judgments about how to navigate the present technological landscape, innovate ethically,
and mitigate potential hazards if they grasp its implications.

● How and Why to Challenge the Status Quo?

Challenging the status quo in technology involves a combination of curiosity, creativity, ethical
responsibility, and a willingness to take risks whether you're an entrepreneur, a researcher, a
policymaker, or an ordinary person, questioning existing systems, pushing for innovation, and
supporting disruptive technologies can lead to significant progress and positive change. Elon
Musk believes that a company can only achieve rapid growth and success if it pushes its
employees to achieve maximum output whether it's improving efficiency, fostering fairness,
addressing societal needs, or discovering new opportunities, challenging the status quo can lead
to more sustainable, ethical, and inclusive outcomes. Furthermore, while the status quo
frequently provides stability and predictability, it can also stifle growth, perpetuate obsolete
habits, or contribute to inequality and other societal issues. However, the status quo provides
stability, adhering to it can prohibit us from meeting emerging demands, solving present
difficulties, and adjusting to a fast changing world. By challenging, disrupting, and enhancing
existing systems, we make room for new solutions that are more efficient, ethical, sustainable,
and equal.

Key trends (define the current status quo of technology)

1. Centralized Platforms and Services (social networking, cloud computing, e-commerce,
entertainment) (privacy, data security, ethical implications of surveillance capitalism)
2. Centralized Infrastructure (concerns about environmental sustainability, energy use
and carbon emissions)
3. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning ( integration into various services— AI
potential for automation, optimization and personalization—AI algorithms— status quo
reflects ongoing efforts in refining these technologies)
4. Legacy Systems and Slow Digital Transformation

Major Developments

1. Edge Computing
2. Quantum Computing
3. Cryptocurrencies
4. The Internet of things
5. Autonomous Systems
6. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality
7. Space Exploration
8. Social Media and Digital Culture
9. Biotechonology and Health Tech
10. Sustainable Techonology
