1. Read This First

This part of the manual explains the structure and use of this AutoStore document. Reading the following
chapters in detail will help you to get the most out of your AutoStore system.

1.1 About This Manual

This Operation Manual describes an AutoStore software component. Depending on the application it will
provide instructions for:
▪ using the software for running an AutoStore system
▪ fixing errors during operation
▪ adjusting safety features of the AutoStore system
▪ adding and removing modules

1.2 Who uses this manual

This Operation Manual is intended for Category 3 users, i.e. the distributors' service personnel. This manual
should be kept in close proximity during operation for quick reference.

1.3 Conventions and Standards

This section describes the typographical conventions that have been established for AutoStore manuals.

Data Input
Throughout this manual, the following conventions indicate data input and output via the computer:
▪ Messages displayed on the screen are represented by capitalizing the initial letter of each word and by
italicizing each word. For example, "Close The Robot Door".
▪ Statuses and modes are written in capital letters. For example, RUNNING.
▪ Input that is entered by keyboard is identified by quotation marks: single quotes for single characters,
double quotes for strings.
▪ For brevity, expressions such as “choose File -> Directories” are used rather than “pull down the File menu
and choose Directories.”
▪ Any command is enclosed in angle brackets < > represents a single keystroke. For example, “press <F1>”
means press the key labeled F1.
▪ Any command that requires pressing two or more keys simultaneously is shown with a plus sign connecting
the keys. For example, “press <Shift> + <F1>” means press and hold the <Shift> key and then press the
<F1> key.
▪ Any button that you click on the screen or on a physical panel is represented in bold face letters. For
example, click "Close" or push "Retry".

Measurements
Unless specified otherwise:
▪ All measurements are metric
▪ Diagrams are read from left to right

5.1.2 File Errors and Warnings

Error/Warning
Explanation
Error: Invalid file The file is not readable and can’t be uploaded
to the module. This is normally caused by a
wrong path or an incorrectly formatted file. The
firmware file may be corrupted.

Warning: Device ID and version not recognized The file is readable and correctly formatted, but
the Device ID and version of the file are not
recognized. Hardware Config cannot guarantee
that the firmware file matches the target
module. This is normally caused by old
firmware. The user may still upload this file to
the target module at his own risk.

Warning: Mismatch between selected file and accepted file(s) The device ID of the file is not accepted (see
Accepted and Expected Firmware (see
Accepted and Required Firmware on page 22)).
Hardware Config prevents wrong files from
being uploaded to the target module.

Warning: Mismatch between selected file and expected file(s) The device ID from the file is accepted, but not
expected (see Accepted and Expected
Firmware (see Accepted and Required
Firmware on page 22)). It is safe to update, but
the device type of the module will change. In a
standard AutoStore installation this should be
avoided.

5.1.3 Troubleshooting

Problem Action
The version read from the module If the firmware was successfully updated on the module, the firmware
does not match the device ID from probably has a version problem which does not affect functionality. No
the newly uploaded file user action is necessary.

Timeout The update time exceeded the module’s timeout time. An error may have
occurred. Try to update again.

Error The module confirms that an error has occurred. Try to update again.

6. How to Change the Module
Settings

You can change the settings of a module in Hardware Config.

See chapter Property Values (on page 24) for a list of settings for all modules and their default and custom
values.
Depending on the type of adjustment, settings may influence the operational state. See chapter Settings
States (on page 26).
To adjust the settings:
1. Choose the new setting in the Hardware Config sidebar
2. Click Save
When you click Save all local changes are sent to the target module. Once the changes are successfully
implemented on the target module, the log will be updated with the new values.
To discard changes:
1. Click the Discard button
2. All local changes will return to the last saved state.
