DAY 1: Bagdogra to Phuntsholing, stay in Phuntsholing

Situated on the border between India and Bhutan, Phuntsholing serves as the gateway to the
kingdom. This bustling town offers a fascinating blend of Indian and Bhutanese cultures,
reflecting its strategic location as a major trading hub.
 Upon your arrival at Bagdogra Airport, our representative will meet you, you’ll start
your journey from Bagdogra Airport reach Jaigoan our team member will guide you
to cross the border into Bhutan via Pedestrian Terminal to reach Phuntsholing Town.

DAY 2: Phuntsholing to Thimphu, stay in Thimphu


Distance: 145km & estimated driving time: 5 Hour
Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, has a rich history that reflects the country’s unique
cultural and political evolution. With its harmonious blend of tradition and modernity,
provides an enriching and memorable experience for travellers. From cultural landmarks
and historical sites to scenic landscapes and vibrant local life, Thimphu is a destination that
captures the essence of Bhutan.
 After breakfast, ensure your luggage is ready, after immigration proceed towards
Thimphu. The journey promises breath-taking scenery and memorable stops along
the way.

 Sangye Migyur Ling Lhakhang: A Tower for Milarepa in the Land of the Thunder
Dragon.

 As you traverse the mountainous roads, make a stop at Gedu Stupa, moving forward
witness Wangkha waterfall view, stop for lunch and enjoy the drive through
Bhutanese country side.
 In the evening, indulge in a captivating city walk around Clock Tower, Thimphu
city, on your own. Thimphu is not only renowned for its cultural landmarks bur also
its vibrant nightlife.

DAY 3: Thimphu Sightseeing, stay in Thimphu

After breakfast visit following Places in Thimphu:


 The National Memorial Chorten (Stupa) which was constructed in 1974 as a
memorial for the Third King of Bhutan, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, who is widely
regarded as the father of modern Bhutan. The term ‘Chorten’ literally means ‘seat of
faith’ Buddhists often call such monuments the ‘Minds of Buddha’. Meet the elderly
generation in the circumambulation, especially in the evenings and mornings, at the
National Memorial Chorten.

 Budha Point / Kuensel Phodrang: This massive Buddha statue is 51.5 meters in height
and it is one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. The statue is made of bronze
and gilded in gold. The throne that the Buddha Dordenma sits upon is a large meditation
hall.

 The Hindu Temple of Thimphu, also known as The Shivalaya Temple. While Bhutan
is predominantly a Buddhist country, there is a small Hindu community, and Hindu
temples do exist, serving as important places of worship for the community

 Takin Preserve which houses the national animal the Takin that is only found in Bhutan.
This is an extremely rare member of the goat family. Found in herds in the very high
altitutes (13,125ft and over). They live on a diet of grass and bamboo. It can weigh as
much as 550 pounds. Here Takins are preserved in natural environment.

 Thimphu City View point: The Sangaygang Viewpoint in Thimphu, Bhutan, offers
one of the most picturesque panoramic views of the city and its surrounding landscapes.
Located on a hill at an altitude of around 2,600 meters (8,530 feet) above sea level, the
viewpoint is a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

DAY 4: Thimphu Sightseeing, stay in Thimphu

After breakfast explore the following places in Thimphu:

 Simply Bhutan: is a living museum that provides insight into traditional Bhutanese life
and culture. Participate in cultural activities such as archery and traditional dance,
taste local wine Aara.

 The National Institute for Zorig Chusum, also known as the Bhutanese Arts and
Crafts School, is the most well-known art school in Bhutan. It is located in Thimphu
and is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Bhutanese traditional arts and
crafts. The school offers comprehensive training in the 13 traditional Bhutanese arts
(known as "Zorig Chusum"), which includes thangka painting, wood carving,
sculpture, weaving, and other crafts. Among these, thangka painting is one of the central
areas of study.

 The National Library of Bhutan is an important cultural and educational institution


located in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. It plays a significant role in preserving
the country's rich heritage, particularly its literary traditions, Buddhist texts, and
historical documents.

 The Tashichho Dzong Viewpoint offers one of the most scenic vistas in Thimphu,
Bhutan, especially for those wanting to capture a panoramic view of the Tashichho
Dzong and its surrounding landscape. Tashichho Dzong is an important historical and
cultural landmark in Bhutan, serving as both a religious and administrative center.

 The Craft Bazaar in Thimphu is a vibrant market where visitors can explore and
purchase a wide array of traditional Bhutanese handicrafts and artisanal products.
This bazaar is a great place to find unique and authentic Bhutanese items that represent
the country’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.

 In the evening, indulge in a captivating city walk around Clock Tower, Thimphu

DAY 5: Thimphu to Punakha, stay in Punakha
Distance: 114 km & estimated driving time: 3 Hour

After breakfast drive towards Punakha and visit these places:


 At Dochula, in the clear spring sky, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the
Himalayan Mountain ranges. You can take photos at the beautiful 108 chortens. You
will also visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (monastery) which was built by Ashi Dorji
Wangmo Wangchuk (the Queen Mother of Bhutan).

 Punakha Dzong: This majestic fortress is one of Bhutan’s most beautiful and
significant architectural marvels. It served as the administrative centre. Visitors can
admire the dzong’s intricate woodwork, vibrant murals, and stunning courtyards. The
Dzong is especially beautiful in spring when the jacaranda trees are in bloom, adding
a purple hue to the surroundings.

 Suspension Bridge: It is one of the longest of its kind in Bhutan, spanning 160 meters
across the Pho Chhu River. The bridge offers thrilling walk with breath taking views
of the valley and rivers below. It’s adorned with colourful prayer flags, adding to the
spiritual ambiance.

 Optional Activity: River Rafting. The Mo Chhu River rafting is 10KM course
which comprises of 10 rapids. The raft is 6-seater. River rafting time is approximately
1.5 hours.

DAY 6: Punakha to Phobjikha, stay in Phobjikha
Distance: 78.6 km, altitude: 3,000 m & estimated driving time: 3 Hour
After breakfast drive towards Phobjikha valley, the lush green and extensively cultivates
potatoes which are the regions’ primary cash crop. The secluded yet expansive peaceful
pastoral environment here makes it an ideal place to chill out for a few days.
 Visit the Gangtey Monastery / Gangtey Goenpa, it was established in 1613 by Pema
Lingpa’s grandson on a spur in the Black Mountains called the Gangteng Sang Nga
Chöling, which translates to “summit for the teaching of the dharma.” Local timber
was used for the temple’s beams, doors, pillars, and windows. The Gangtey Goenpa
monastery, or Gangteng Monastery is the main seat of the Pema Linpa tradition of the
Nyingma school of Buddhism. Dating from the 17th century, it has superb views and
guests usually visit the temple before embarking on the Gangtey Nature Trail.

 Visit Black Necked Crane Center: The rare black-necked crane is highly honoured
in the Himalaya region. These majestic birds migrate from Tibet to Bhutan in late
autumn each year, predicting the end of harvesting season and the onset of farmer
relocations to the warmer, lower valley. Known as Thrung Thrung Keh Narp, literally
translating to thin, tall and black necked, over 300 of these avian wonders soar to the
warmer Phobjikha Valley in the winter months, looping over the Gangtey Goenpa
Monastery three full times, both when they arrive and when they leave. Bhutanese
folklore attributes this mystifying and perplexing behaviour to the birds paying
reverence to the three sacred jewels of Buddhism, as well as asking for protection
throughout their stay.

DAY 7: Phobjikha to Paro, stay in Paro
Distance: 114.8 km, altitude: 2200 m & estimated driving time: 3 Hour

After breakfast drive to Paro and visit:


 National Museum of Bhutan: located within the iconic Ta Dzong, serves as a
custodian of the nation’s historical treasures. With over 3,000 artifacts spanning more
than 1,500 years, the museum provides an immersive experience, allowing visitors
to delve into the rich tapestry of Bhutanese history. From ancient bronze paintings
and statues to traditional costumes, weapons, and handcrafted implements, the
museum presents a comprehensive panorama of Bhutan’s Cultural Revolution.

 Rinpung Dzong view: Highlight of the day, just before entering Paro town enjoy the
enchanting night view of Rinpung Dzong! As the sun sets, the fortress-monastery
lights up, creating a magical ambiance that’s sure to leave you spellbound. It’s a sight
you won’t want to miss! Don’t forget to capture this mesmerizing sight with
Bhutanese attire in some beautiful photos.

 Visit, Kyichu Lhakhang which is one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples.
The main chapel has roots as far back as the 7th century, with additional buildings
and a golden roof added in 1839 by the Penlop (governor) of Paro and the 25th Je
Khenpo. Elderly pilgrims constantly shuffle around the temple spinning its many
prayer wheels, making this one of the most charming spots in the Paro valley.

DAY 8: Hike to Tiger’s Nest, stay in Paro
Altitude: 3,120 m, estimated hiking time: 6 Hours

After breakfast, drive for about 30 minutes to the base of Taktsang Monastery and then hike
up to Taktsang Monastery, also known as ‘Tiger’s Nest’. The walk up to the viewpoint will
take about 1 – 1 ½ hours depending on your fitness and from View Point you will enjoy
spectacular view of the monastery clinging to the side of the cliff. Stop for refreshment at the
View Point Cafeteria. Takes photos with great view of Taktsang behind you.
Then walk further up to the monastery which will take about 1 hour. After visiting the
monastery, walk downhill back to the road on the way stop for lunch at the view point
cafeteria and then walk further downhill to the road point.
Traditional Hot Stone bath: A Traditional Bhutan Hot stone bath uses river rocks that
therapist place in the water where they crack the steam, releasing key minerals and relieving
deep-set aches.

DAY 9: Paro to Chelela Pass, stay in Paro
Distance: 38.3 km & estimated driving time: 1 Hour 13 Minutes

After breakfast drive towards Chelela Pass

Chelela Pass is one of Bhutan’s highest motorable passes, located at an elevation of 3,988
meters (13,083 feet), and it offers stunning views of the Himalayas, including the snow-
capped peaks of Jhomolhari (7,314 meters), one of Bhutan’s most sacred mountains.
Located about 35 km (22 miles) from Thimphu, the pass connects the capital with the
Paro Valley and is a popular day-trip destination.

Paro International Airport is one of the most spectacular and challenging airports in
the world, known for its stunning location and dramatic views. The airport, located in the
Paro Valley, is surrounded by rugged mountains, making it a true marvel of aviation and
a treat for visitors arriving or departing Bhutan.

In the evening, explore Paro town.

DAY 10: Paro to Phuntsholing, stay in Phuntsholing


Distance: 147 km & estimated driving time: 5 hours

Prepare your luggage as you start your day with a hearty breakfast. Today’s journey takes you
from Paro back to Phuntsholing.

DAY 11 / November 11: Phuntsholing to Bagdogra Airport


Distance: 153 Km & estimated driving time: 4 hours
On the final day of your journey in Bhutan, the day begins with leisurely breakfast at your
hotel in Phuntsholing. At 8 AM your driver will be waiting to drop you to the Bagdogra Airport
and Bid Farewell.
