Company personnel in the use of Company-owned firefighting equipment. This General Instruction (GI) includes:

1.0 DEFINITIONS
1.1 Confined Space: Areas with limited access and egress and are usually not designed to be worked in continuously.
There is usually little or no ventilation, little room for movement and limited exits and entrances.
1.2 Incipient Stage Firefighting Equipment: Firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and hose reels that are
provided to attack a fire at its beginning stage or while small.
1.3 SAP: Acronym for Systems, Application, and Production.
1.4 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA): An atmosphere-supplying respirator in which the breathing air
source is carried by the wearer.

3.1 Ensure that employees whose daily operations involve areas where firefighting equipment and/or SCBA are
located and could be expected to use this equipment are trained in the use of the equipment as outlined in
Supplement "1783.001-01."
3.2 Schedule with the Area Fire Control Unit the appropriate firefighting training for their employees as indicated in
Supplement 1783.001-01. Training can be requested more often if proponent feels it is necessary or it is mandated
by outside regulatory agencies. New hires, including apprentices, are to be sent for firefighting / fire safety training
within the first 6 months of employment.
3.3 Provide necessary transportation, housing, and restricted area access as required for their employees to attend
training.
3.4 Provide their employees with personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, hard hats, gloves, and
goggles appropriate for the training session they will attend.
3.5 Forecast and submit their training requirements to the Area Fire Control Unit Head on a yearly basis during
September of each year.
3.6 Nomine employees from one source such as the Department’s Training Coordinator and only through SAP “Saudi
Aramco Training/Certification Program.”
3.7 Ensure that nominated employees are physically, mentally, and medically able to perform the mental and/or
physical requirements of the firefighting training sessions.
3.8 Communicate to their employees the location and application of incipient stage firefighting equipment located
within their area of responsibility. It shall be included as part of the employee’s orientation and should be discussed
during employee safety/communication meetings.
3.9 Provide employees with instructions on how to report fire and emergencies using the emergency telephone number
110 and given instructions regarding evacuation routes and location of and reporting to assembly points.
3.10.1 Report all fires and emergencies in accordance with the established procedures at their work location,
and as per GI-1787.000 and report to their safe assembly areas.
3.10.2 Attempt to extinguish the fire using available equipment and methods taught during training until the
arrival of the Fire Protection Department.
3.10.3 Complete pre-requisite e-Learning Fire Safety Awareness (SAP 40039206) and Industrial Fire Safety
Awareness (SAP 40094573) courses as applicable before scheduling for practical Fire Awareness courses
as described in Supplement 1783.001-01.
NOTE: It should be emphasized that 3.10.2 actions should only be attempted in situations where the
employee is not subjected to excessive risk.

Course Descriptions
This course provides Saudi Aramco employees who work in non-industrial setting with information and instruction to make them
aware of the importance of basic fire prevention and how to make their work place and home fire-safe. It also provides them with
instruction on the use of portable fire extinguishers and involves live-fire drills. Participation in the live-fire drills is required to
pass the course. Students must first complete pre-requisite Fire Safety Awareness e-Learning (SAP 40039206).
Duration: 2 hours.
This course provides Saudi Aramco employees who work in an industrial setting with information and instruction to make them
aware of the importance of basic fire prevention and how to make their work place and home fire-safe. It also provides them with
instruction on the use of portable and wheeled fire extinguishers and involves live-fire drills using fire hose and fixed fire monitors.
Participation in the live-fire drills is required to pass the course. Students must first complete pre-requisite Industrial Fire Safety
Awareness e-Learning (SAP 40094573).
Duration: 4 hours.
This course provides Saudi Aramco employees who are tasked with entering confined spaces with basic information and
instruction to safely conduct confined space rescue in spaces with same-level horizontal opening only. It also stresses conditions
and precautions that make rescue operation from a confined space safe. The course includes practical exercises of conducting
confined space rescue from a confined space with same-level horizontal opening while wearing SCBA. Participation in the drill
exercise is required to pass the course.
Duration: 4 hours.
Course Descriptions
This course is designed to provide operational leaders holding the position of foreman and above with the knowledge and skills
necessary to work within an incident management system and perform those functions within the system required to bring the
incident to a successful conclusion. The course covers strategic and tactical planning skills needed to effectively manage and
control their emergency resources.
Duration: 40 hours.
This e-Learning course is designed to provide refresher training to those that have attended ICS for Emergency Responders
(40037804)
Duration: 8 hours.
This course is designed for managers and above in Saudi Aramco who might be in charge of the Emergency Control Center (ECC)
during emergencies and aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills needed for the incident manager who
ultimately provides leadership, guidance and support during emergencies/incidents to the incident commander.
Duration: 8 Hours.
