3. a. A man stands on top of a tower which is 11 m from the ground. The angle of depression
of a car from the man is 35o. If the car is 15 m away from the bottom of the pole and 18 m
away from the man, calculate the angle of elevation of the man from the car.

6. a. A box contains 5 white pieces of chalk and 7 green pieces of chalk. Two pieces are taken out of
the box at random without replacement. Illustrate this information on a tree diagram and
calculate the probability that both pieces of chalk are of different colours. (6 Marks)

8. A business man wants to install two types of machines x and y. Machine of type x occupies 5m2 of
space and machine of type y occupies 10m2 of space. There are up to 150m2 of space available.
Machine of type x requires a maximum of 4 operators while machine of type y requires a
maximum of 5 operator. There are 100 operators available for both machines of type x and y.
i. Write down four inequalities in x and y to represent this information.
ii. Using a scale of 2cm to represent 10 units on both axes, show the inequalities on a graph.
iii. If machine x makes a profit of K400 daily and machine y makes a profit of K550 daily,
calculate the maximum profit the businessman can make daily.

10. Two ports P and Q are 120km apart. The bearing of port Q from P is N073oE. A ship
leaves port Q to another port R 215km away on a bearing of N120oE.
i. Calculate the distance between port P and R.
ii. Calculate the bearing of port R from P
iii. Calculate the area enclosed by the three ports.
