Specific Objectives At the end of the learning session, the learners should be able to:
a. define probability;
b. determine the probability rules; and
c. solve problems involving probability of simple events

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Presenting the new The teacher will introduce the concept of simple events through the
lesson illustration in the power point.
Activity 1: Answer All You Can!
Direction: Relate each Illustration in the power point with your day to
day activities. Fill in the blanks with the correct words that would
make the following sentences meaningful.
Probability Rules:
1. The probability of any event is a number (either a fraction, a
decimal, or a percent) from 0 to 1.
2. If an event will never happen, the probability is 0.
3. If an event is sure to happen, then the probability is 1.
4. The sum of probabilities of all outcomes in the sample space is
1.
F. Developing Group Activity: Math Quiz Bee
mastery Directions:
(leads to formative 1. The Math quiz bee is composed of 6 items question. The
assessment) questions were all about solving problems involving probability
of simple event. You can see questions in the power point
2. Time duration per question is 30 seconds.
3. Each group will have 6 members and you will be given an
illustration board. This is where the students are going to write
their answers.
4. On the first question, the group leader will be the one to write
the answer on the illustration board provided. On the next
question, the leader will pass the illustration board to his/her
member until all members will answer and write their final
answer.
5. Once the time is up, you are just allowed to raise your
illustration board once I told you so.
QUESTIONS:
1. A single die is rolled. What is the probability that is greater
than 4?
2. A bag contains 8 Marbles numbered 1 to 8. What is the
probability of selecting an odd number?
3. In a standard deck of 52 cards, find the probability of drawing
a jack.
4. In a bowl, slips of paper were numbered from 1 to 12. What is
the probability of getting a prime number?
5. In a 500 ticket draw for an educational prize. Yana’s name was
written on 50 tickets. What is the probability that she would
win?
G. Finding practical Life has a lot of uncertainties. Oftentimes, our decisions in life are
applications of done under conditions of uncertainty. These are the probabilities of
concepts and skills in life.
daily living
Let students think of different situations that probability will be
applied in daily living.
H. Making The teacher will ask some questions to the students:
generalizations and 1. What is the probability of simple event?
abstractions about 2. What is the formula?
the lesson 3. What are the probability rules?
I. Evaluating I. Answer the following. Write the correct answer before the number.
Learning 1. What is the probability of simple events?
a. The likelihood that a specific outcome will occur in a single
trial or experiment
b. The total number of possible outcomes in a trial or
experiment
c. The number of times an event occurs divided by the total
number of trials
d. The sum of the probabilities of all possible outcome in a trial
or experiment
2. Which of the following is simple event?
a. Rolling a die and getting a number less than 3
b. Flipping a coin and getting a heads or tails
c. Drawing a card from a deck and getting a king or queen
d. Tossing a coin and getting two heads in a row
3. A coin is flipped. What is the probability of getting heads?
a. 0.5 b. 1 c. 2 d.4
4. What is the probability of rolling a die and getting a number
greater than 4
a. 0.25 b. 0.50 c. 0.75 d. 0.12
5. What is the probability of drawing a heart from a standard deck
of cards?
a. 0.50 b. 0.25 c. 0.12 d. 0.75
II. Solve the following.
1. Of the 45 students in a class, 25 are boys. If a student is selected
at random for a field trip, what is the probability of selecting a
girl?
2. Cherry has a box that contains 8 blue balls, 5 red balls, 3 yellow
balls, and 4 white balls. What is the probability that if she choose
a marble from the box without looking, or at random, she will get
a non-yellow marble?
3. Each of the letters in the word CALCULATOR are on separated
cards face down on the table. If you picked a card at random,
what is the probability that it is letter C?
