Serial Protocol Converter II (SPC2) Setup – Dual Port


Introduction
This Technical Note describes the required steps to install and configure a Serial Protocol Converter II (SPC2) for a
dual port.

Setup and Configuration


1. Install Electronic Gaming Machine firmware (A4.2.1 or higher).
a. In the Game Configuration Menu, set the Comms Protocol to Gamma.
b. In the SPC Configuration menu:
i. Set the four left digits of the SPC ID Number to the appropriate SAS address for Port 1 (H3).
(Note, leading zeros are not allowed).
ii. Set the four right digits of the SPC ID Number to 0001 for the accounting system connected to
Port 0 (H4).
iii. Set the Single/Dual Port option to Dual Port.
2. Install the proper version of GamSAS2 firmware into SPC2 socket U3.
3. Connect the SPC2 to the EGM using cable US1003.
a. EGM backplane P19 (BDACOM) and P23 (COM2/COM4/MIKOHN)
b. SPC2 connectors H2 (EGM Comms) and H8 (power).
4. Initialize the SPC2 non-volatile SRAM.
a. Insert a jumper linking J2-11 with J2-13.
b. Apply power and wait until the LED flickers rapidly.
c. Remove power.
d. Remove jumper.
e. Apply power.
5. Connect the System Interface board cables to the SPC2.
a. Connect the accounting system to Port 0 (connector H4).
b. Connect the fiber-optic interface board to Port 1 (connector H3).
c. These connections may be reversed
if all addressing and data options are also reversed, i.e. WV.
LED Flash Codes
Flicker (10 pps) Memory has been cleared.
Flash (5 pps) Normal operation
1 – pause No comms on H2 (EGM).
2 – pause No comms on H3 (EZ-Pay, Lottery, Accounting System, etc.).
3 – pause No comms on H4 (Accounting System, Lottery, etc.).
4 – pause NV-SRAM error, clear NV-SRAM per step 4 above.
5 – pause Invalid EGM SAS-poll address.
