DESCRIPTION:
Aristocrat Technologies, Inc. has released a new Serial Protocol Converter (SPC) board (ATI # US1007) in
order to support evolving systems communications requirements.
ACTION:
The new SPC2 is required for all Ticket-In/Ticket-Out (TITO), Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and system-
based Bonusing applications.
The current SPC2 firmware version accepts only GamPro from the Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) and
transmits only SAS 5.x (GamSAS2) to the system interface board (Sentinel, PT-95A, Mastercom, etc.).
All other applications may continue to use the SPC1 or no SPC at all.
PROCEDURE:
Setup and Configuration
1. Install EGM firmware and set the Comms Protocol to Gamma.
a. When using A4.1.1 or A4.2 base chipsets,
set the Machine ID address to 1 plus a five-digit house number,
i.e. 132572 or 102468 (use zeros to pad for a total of six digits).
b. When using A4.2.1 (or newer) base chipsets,
set the SPC ID Number to 1 and the Machine ID to the house number.
2. Install the latest approved version of GamSAS2 firmware into SPC2 socket U3.
3. Connect the EGM to the SPC2 using loom (cable) US1003,
connect to EGM backplane connectors P19 (BDACOM) and P23 (COM2/COM4/MIKOHN), and
connect to SPC2 connectors H2 (EGM Comms) and H8 (power).
4. Initialize the SPC2 non-volatile SRAM.
a. Insert a jumper linking J2-11 with J2-13.
b. Apply power and wait until the LED flickers rapidly then remove power.
c. Remove the jumper and power up the EGM.
