5. Bases for Learner Promotion and Recitation
In the Philippine educational system, learner promotion and recitation are primarily based on the following: 1. Final Grades: o A final grade of 75% or higher in all learning areas is generally required for promotion to the next grade level. 2. Performance in Formative Assessments: o Regular assessments, such as quizzes, projects, and class activities, contribute to the overall grade. o These assessments help monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement. 3. Summative Assessments: o Major assessments like quarterly exams and final exams are crucial in determining a student's overall performance. o They assess students' mastery of key concepts and skills. 4. Classroom Participation and Behavior: o Active participation in class discussions, group activities, and presentations is often considered. o Positive behavior and adherence to classroom rules also play a role in overall evaluation. 5. Remedial Classes: o Students who do not meet the minimum passing grade may be required to attend remedial classes to improve their skills and knowledge. 6. The learner’s observed values are based on the DepEd Mission, Vision and core Values. Schools may craft additional indicators for the behavior statements. Schools must ensure that these are child- centered, gender-fair, and age- and culture-appropriate. To support the development of these Core Values, schools must make sure that their homeroom guidance program promotes them. Additional opportunities may be integrated into class discussions in all learning. A non-numerical rating scale will be used to report on learners' behavior demonstrating the Core Values. The Class Adviser and other teachers shall agree on how to conduct these observations. They will also discuss how each child will be rated.
