Stem
Row 31: Ch 5, 4 sc on the back side of the ch. FO. *leave a tail to sew the top together*
I wait to sew the top together as I like to add any yarn or polyester stuffing scraps from the
seeds into the pillow before closing off.
Strawberry seeds
Making the seed details is quite easy but can be a little tedious. I will try
my best to explain over paper. You will need your seed colour and yarn
needle!
Take a long strand of yarn and stitch your seeds following this pattern down the length of
the strawberry.
Start the seeds on row 3. Your first row of seeds should have 3 stitches. Continue down the
strawberry making sure to space the seeds out nicely. If you have a big gap between 2 seeds,
put 2 seeds in the row below the gap. If you have an extra small gap between 2 seeds skip
putting a seed between in the row below. The stitches should be 1 sc in length and 2 rows
apart. Please refer to the pictures for more info.
Closing off the top
Finish stuffing the strawberry. Take the tail of the stem and stitch it across the opening from
where it is already attached. Stitch back and forth through the stem into the remaining open
stitches. This will make the stem stand nicely. Tie off and hide your ends.
Leaf (X6) - In your leaf colour
Row 1: Ch 11 (11)
Row 2: 2nd ch from the hook, Sc in each st (10)
Row 3: Ch 1, Sc into opposite side of the ch, hdc, dc, tc 2, dc 2, hdc 2, sc, ch 2, sc in same st,
sc, hdc 2, dc 2, tc 2, dc, hdc, sc, sl st
FO. Leave a tail for sewing.
Stitching on leaves
To sew the leaves onto the strawberry simple use the tail and stitch
down 4-5 stitches on each side of the leaf. Pull the rest of the tail
through under the leaf. Pull the other tail (it should be under the
strawberry) into the same hole under the leaf. Tie together and hide
the ends. Repeat this 6 times with each leaf.
TA DA!! Now your giant Strawberry pillow is finished! I
