Symptom
This Release Information Note (RIN) contains information and references to notes for applying Feature Package
(FP)/Support Package (SP) Stacks of product version SAP S/4HANA 2023.

GENERAL INFORMATION
General / Important Considerations
Please refer to the specific documentation under section product documentation. We recommend setting up your system
to display a dynamic documentation, which reflects the latest Feature or Support Package Stack of this release. You will

The supported Kernel version is: SAP KERNEL 7.93 64-BIT UNICODE PL 51 or higher

Please be aware that SAP S/4HANA 2023 is a UNICODE-ONLY release. Non-Unicode systems are not supported
anymore. Hence upgrades of non-Unicode systems without prior Unicode conversion are not possible. For details
see SAP note 2033243.

SAP HANA Database Requirements
 The minimum required revision is defined in the respective Feature or Support Package Stack note (please check for this
note in the Solution section Feature Package Stack or Support Package Stack).

Installation Information
For the system installation, please refer to the installation guide.
You need at least Software Provisioning Manager 2.0 (SWPM) Support Package 16 for the installation. Please make sure
that you always use the latest patch level of SWPM available at support.sap.com/software/sltoolset.html.
Upgrade Information
You can upgrade from SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition 1511, SAP S/4HANA 1610, SAP S/4HANA 1709, SAP
S/4HANA 1809, SAP S/4HANA 1909, SAP S/4HANA 2020, SAP S/4HANA 2021 or SAP S/4HANA 2022 to SAP
S/4HANA 2023.
For the system upgrade, please refer to the upgrade guide and SAP notes 3296457 (SUM) and 3340526 (Follow-on).
You need at least Software Update Manager 2.0 (SUM) Support Package 18 for the upgrade. Please make sure that you
always use the latest patch level of SUM available at support.sap.com/software/sltoolset.html.
The Zero Downtime Option (ZDO) of SUM is general available with SUM 2.0 and released for upgrades from start
release SAP S/4HANA 2020 and higher, as well as for Feature Pack / Support Package updates on SAP S/4HANA
release 2020 and higher.

Conversion Information
System conversions are supported from SAP ERP 6.0 to SAP Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0.
The minimum Support Package level of the underlying SAP NetWeaver release for running a system conversion to
SAP S/4HANA needs to be:
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP17
SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP05
SAP EHP2 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP06
SAP EHP3 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SP01
SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SP02
If you are on a lower product version, you first have to go to one of the supported product versions mentioned
above.
Please note that the product version EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 on HANA had end of mainstream maintenance in
2020 and is not supported as a start release any longer.

notes 3340515 (Preparation), 3338941 (SUM), 3340526 (Follow-on) and 3348949 (Restriction Note).
