SDLC model For HRMS

6.1 Agile Methodology

Here’s how Agile methodology applied to the development of the HR management
system:
Iterative Development: Agile encourages breaking down the development process
into smaller iterations or sprints, each focused on delivering a specific set of features or
functionality. For the HR management system, this means that the development team
can prioritize and tackle key HR functions incrementally, such as employee manage-
ment, payroll processing, and performance evaluation.
Customer Collaboration: Agile emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders, in-
cluding HR professionals and end-users, throughout the development process. This en-
sures that the HR management system meets the specific needs and requirements of the
HR department and aligns with the organization’s HR policies and procedures. Regular
feedback sessions and demos allow stakeholders to provide input and make adjustments
as needed.
Adaptability to Change: Agile acknowledges that requirements and priorities may
change over time, especially in dynamic environments such as HR. The Agile approach
allows the development team to respond quickly to changes in HR regulations, organi-
zational policies, or user preferences. This flexibility ensures that the HR management
system remains relevant and effective in meeting the evolving needs of the organization.
Cross-Functional Teams: Agile encourages the formation of cross-functional teams
consisting of developers, designers, testers, and HR domain experts. These teams col-
laborate closely to deliver working software at the end of each iteration. By bringing
together individuals with diverse skills and perspectives, Agile ensures that the HR man-
agement system is developed holistically, considering both technical and HR-specific
requirements.
Continuous Feedback and Improvement: Agile promotes regular feedback loops
to validate assumptions, identify issues, and make improvements. In the context of the
HR management system, this means conducting user testing, gathering feedback from
HR professionals, and iteratively refining the system based on their input. Continuous
improvement ensures that the HR management system evolves to meet the changing
needs of the organization and its workforce.
Emphasis on Individuals and Interactions: Agile values open communication,
collaboration, and trust among team members. In the development of the HR manage-
ment system, this means fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment where

18
team members feel empowered to share ideas, raise concerns, and work together to-
wards a common goal. Strong interpersonal relationships and effective communication
are essential for the success of Agile projects.

Figure 6.1: Agile Methodology

6.2 User-Centric Design

Understanding User Needs: Gather insights into the needs and preferences of HR
professionals, managers, and employees through interviews and research.
Persona Development: Create user personas representing different user roles within
the organization to guide design decisions.
Empathetic Design: Design with empathy, considering the perspectives and expe-
riences of users to address their needs and pain points.
Iterative Prototyping: Build prototypes and gather feedback from users through
testing sessions to refine the design iteratively.
Usability and Accessibility: Prioritize usability and accessibility to ensure an intu-
itive and inclusive experience for all users.
Feedback Integration: Integrate user feedback throughout the development pro-
cess to continuously improve the HR management system based on user needs and
preferences

19
Figure 6.2: User Centric Methodology

6.3 Modular Design

Component Identification: Identify key functionalities and features of the HR man-
agement system, such as employee management, payroll processing, and performance
evaluation.
Module Decomposition: Break down the system into modular components, each
responsible for specific functions or features. For example, create modules for em-
ployee database management, payroll calculation, and performance appraisal.
Independent Development: Develop each module independently, ensuring that
they have well-defined interfaces and minimal dependencies on other modules. This
allows different teams or developers to work on different modules simultaneously.
Scalability and Customization: Modular design enables scalability and customiza-
tion, allowing additional modules to be added or existing ones to be modified easily.
This flexibility accommodates evolving business needs and allows for tailored solutions
for different organizations.
Integration and Interoperability: Once developed, integrate modules seamlessly
to ensure interoperability and smooth functioning of the HR management system as
a whole. This may involve testing interfaces and data exchange between modules to
verify compatibility.
Maintenance and Updates: Modular design simplifies maintenance and updates
by isolating changes to specific modules without affecting the entire system. This re-
duces the risk of introducing errors or disruptions and facilitates continuous improve-
ment over time.
