SEVEN FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS

SQUAT involves the hips and knees flexing together,


allowing center of gravity to lower.
BEND any flexion movement performed by the body.
LUNGE a support pattern for the squat and bend,
requiring active stabilization in both the core and
extended leg.
CORE-PLANKING to stabilize the spine in static and
movement.
CORE-SIDE PLANKING to stabilize the spine in static
and movement.
PUSH UP any movement where individual pushes a load
away from the body or where you push your own body
weight away.
PULL any movement where an individual pulls a load
towards them or pull his or her body weight.

LOCOMOTOR AND NON-LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS
LOCOMOTOR a physical action that propels an
individual from one place to another. This may mean
moving forward, backward, or even upwards using
certain skills.
Example:
>Walking or running
>Jumping or hopping
>Galloping or marching
>Skipping
NON-LOCOMOTOR movement that not incorporate
traveling. They are stability skills that include movements
of limbs or body parts and sometimes even the whole
body.
Example:
>Swinging
>Swaying
>Dodging
>Shaking
>Wiggling
>Pulling
>Pushing
>And many more
PHYSICAL EDUCATION often abbreviated as PE, is a
course taught in school that focuses on developing
physical fitness and the ability to perform and enjoy day
to day physical activities with ease. It's about teaching
students the importance of maintaining a healthy body
and lifestyle and the role physical activity plays in that
pursuit.
One of the major components of PE is movement and
competency training.
MOVEMENT TRAINING refers to the development of
basic motor skills like running, jumping, throwing,
catching, and balancing. These are the building blocks of
physical literacy
COMPETENCY involves the ability to use this basic
movements to perform complex tasks and activities. It's
about being able to apply the skills in various physical
activities, sports, and forms of exercises.
