Super Typhoon Haiyan
Super Typhoon Haiyan is one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever observed. It ripped through the
Philippines, and the destruction across the islands was disastrous and widespread. Houses and buildings were
leveled by the storm's powerful winds. Trees fell down and neighborhoods were under flood water. One CNN
reporter, upon seeing the hard-hit city of Tacloban, said: “It is like a tsunami has hit here." About 9.5 million
people have been affected by the typhoon Haiyan weakened to a tropical storm, but at least five people died in
