Installing Control Software to Micronet Plus Controller

1. First turn off all DC and AC lube oil pumps.


2. Open the computer tray door and insert jump drive into USB.
3. Right-click on the Start button and select Explore.
4. Navigate to F:\Download\GAP (create GAP folder if it doesn’t exist).
5. Right click in the right pane and select New and then select Folder.
6. Change the folder name to match the software version (unless new software is already in a
folder).
7. Drag and drop new software from jump drive.
8. Start OPC Server (only required if not running already). Wait until OPC Server is connected.

9. Start Control Assistant

10. Receive tunable list using the “Receive tunables” toolbar icon or menus.

11. Check for correct IP Address and Port.


12. Click OK.
13. After tunable list appears, select File and Save from menu in top-left corner of Control
Assistant.

14. Name the file according to Unit and Date saved (e.g., Unit 04 080206).
15. Select the Save button.
16. Also save a copy of the downloaded tunables to your jump drive.
17. Close the Control Assistant and re-open Control Assistant.
18. Receive tunable list.
19. Leave the Control Assistant open.
20. Open AppManager.

21. Highlight the unit being loaded with software.


22. Running version will appear.
23. If more than one version is installed, delete the version that is in the stopped Status. (Hi-light
the stopped status version. Click on the delete icon on the right side. This is the button

with the red X. It may or may not ask you for User name and user Password. User name
is ServiceUser and password is the same.)
24. Remove Files will appear.
25. Select the Files of type. Select the all-files entry.
26. Highlight the version you want to delete. It will appear in file name. Verify this is the version
you want to delete between the two screens. Click delete and the highlighted version of
software will disappear from the screen.
27. Click on the icon in App Manager with the three pages and the right arrow. Transfer files. Files
of type, click on all files. Look in F: Drive Downloads Software newest version. There will be
two files, one with a “.out” extension and the other with a “.r1” extension. Highlight either and
both will transfer. Click Transfer. The copying progress will appear.
28. On the AppManager the new version of software will appear as stopped.
29. Highlight the version of software that is currently running. Click the stop icon (red square) .
30. It will ask you if you’re sure. Select Yes. If you failed to turn off the DC lube oil pumps they
will begin running at this time. It may ask you for user name and password again.
ServiceUser is name and password.
31. Highlight the new version of software that you transferred. Click on the start icon (blue arrow)
to start the new version. You will temporarily lose OPC Server connectivity at this time. Wait
for the red failure lights to clear on the MicroNet Plus chassis, then click “retry” to start the
OPC server.
32. Minimize AppManager. Do not close.
33. Control Assistant will still be running. Untitled 1 should still be on the screen. Do not delete
United 1. Click on receive tunable list. This will bring the tunable from the new software. Now
you will have Untitled 1 and untitled 2 on control Assistant. One may be over the other.
34. At the top of the page go to Edit, then compare. You will now get a screen under Master hi-
light untitled1 and compare click on untitled 2. Also make sure the differences are checked in
the box. Click OK.
35. Now in Control Assistant you will have three pages: Untitled1; Untitled 2; and Differences.

36. Highlight Untitled2. Right-click and select Properties.


37. Tunlist Properties will appear.

38. Highlight the Application Name text and hit Control-C (or right-click and Copy). Select OK
39. Click on the Differences page then right-click and select Properties. Clear out the Application
Name and hit Control-V (or right-click and Paste) to paste in the name. Click OK.
40. Highlight the Untitled 2 page. Right-click and select Properties. Highlight the Gap Date test
and hit Control-C (or right-click and Copy). Click OK. Highlight the Differences page. Right-
click and select Properties. Clear out the Gap Date and hit Control-V (or right-click and Paste)
to paste in the GAP Date. Click OK.
41. Keep Differences Highlighted.
42. Keep the Control Assistant open -- do not close.
43. On the desktop re-open a new Control Assistant. Now you will have two running.
44. Select the eyeballs on Control Assistant

45. Click on Connect.

46. At the top of Control Assistant click the lock. This will put the MicroNet Plus in I/O Lock.

47. It will ask if you want the control to shutdown. Click OK.
48. Lock I/O issued box should appear. Click OK.
49. Go back to the other Control Assistant with the Differences page.

50. Make sure the Differences page is highlighted.


51. Click on the Send tunables icon.

52. Verify the IP address and Port number.

53. Click OK.
54. Transferring will appear.

55. Now go back to the Control Assistant that you locked with the Lock icon.
56. Click on the Reset icon.

57. Select the warning check box so that it is checked. Select the Save Values button. Select the
Yes button and then select the Reset button. Select the OK
button.

58. When the reset-issue box pops up, select the OK button.
59. Bring up Application Manager. Its bottom right-hand corner should indicate that “Unlock I/O is
not allowed, you must Stop and Restart the application”.

60. You must stop and restart the MicroNet Plus application to unlock the I/O. Highlight the
version of software that is running. Click on the stop/start (red square and blue arrow).

61. It will ask if you are sure. Select Yes.

62. You will lose OPC Server for a few minutes if it is up. After the application is running, it will
appear in the Application Manager. Click retry. It will connect.
63. In the bottom right hand corner the I/O lock will disappear.
64. Now download the tunables from this running application and save this on the F: drive and the
jump drive.
65. In order to save a record of the newly installed software version, capture an AppManager
screen image as follows:
66. Select Control Name in the Control List Window to display a Unit's Application Information in
the Application List Window. Press the "Alt" and "Prnt Scrn" keys at the same time to copy the
screenshot. If multiple units are connected to the same network, then this step will need to be
performed on each Control Name.

67. Open Paint from the Start menu of Windows (All Programs > Accessories > Paint). With the
Paint Window selected, press Ctrl-V to paste the screenshot into Paint.

68. Go to "File" and "Save As" on the Paint toolbar.

The "Save As" screen will appear. Select the folder next to "Save in:" that the MicroNet Plus
application information will be saved in. Ensure that "JPEG (*.JPG,*.JPEG,*.JPE,*.JFIF)” or
“PNG (*.PNG)” is selected next to "Save as type:" entry. Type in the file name of the MicroNet
Plus application information next to "File name:" entry. This should be in the format of "<Site
Name> <Unit Number> Application Information". Select "Save".

69. Select "File" and "Exit" on the Paint toolbar to close Paint.

70. Provide the file to the Controls Engineer and a copy to the Project Manager or Customer
Service Manager.
71. The Controls Engineer will store the screen image at PWPS and update the appropriate
database to reflect currently installed software version.
72. You can close all of the unused windows at this time.
73. You can restore all of the pumps at this time to be ready to run. The pumps will run for about
another 20 minutes (30 minutes in total).
