ENGLISH LITERATURE PROJECT WORK FOR CLASS 9

YEAR 2024-25
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:-

1. Attempt both the topics


2. The project work should be handwritten. Your handwriting should be neat and legible.
3. The font size for the respective headings, sub-headings and the content should be in total
agreement throughout the project. You should use black marker pen for headings and subheadings
and blue ball point pen for the content.
4. The project work should be submitted in A4 interleaf file paper with a proper hard-cover (brown)
5. The cover should bear the topic’s name at the top, student’s name, class, section, subject, school
name and academic session.
6. The topic name has to be a unique one pertaining to the questions.
7. The first page of the project should have the topic’s name at the top, student’s name, class,
section, subject and school name.
8. The second page should be Acknowledgement. Please refer to ACKNOWLEDGEMENT at the end
for writing.
9. The third page should be of the content headings and the corresponding page numbers. Please
refer to the content at the end for writing.
10. The fourth page should consist of the first topic you have researched on.
11. Your research material for the first topic should start from the fifth page.
12. Once you finish writing about your learnings regarding the first topic, move to a fresh page and
continue with the second topic
13. Use pictures and caption wherever possible
14. Marks will be deducted for spelling and grammatical errors.
15. Word limit is 1000
16. The second last page should be about bibliography (references/citation)
17. The last page should have space for the examiner to sign and give comments if required.

TOPIC 1: SATYAJIT RAY AND HIS FILMS

WRITE ABOUT ANY 3 FILMS OF SATYAJIT RAY AND WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE LIKED TO
CHANGE IN THE STORYLINE HAD YOU BEEN THE DIRECTOR.

RESEARCH TO BE DONE:
1. Watch at least 5 movies directed by Satyajit Ray. Select any 3.

ARRANGEMENT OF THIS PROJECT


1. (INTRODUCTION)Write about Satyajit Ray as a filmmaker and his filmmaking strategies.
2. (BODY)Select THREE movies that you have loved watching. Bring out the main points you
loved. You can talk of cinematography, direction, cast and crew, music arrangement,
dialogues etc. Criticise what you think could have been better. How you would have done it
had you been the director.
3. (CONCLUSION) Write a comprehensive summary of your criticism
4. Use pictures of the clippings of the films, wherever required.
TOPIC 2: DRAMA OF SHAKESPEARE

WRITE ABOUT ANY OTHER DRAMA OF SHAKESPEARE YOU WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE IN
YOUR SYLLABUS JUSTIFYING WITH PROPER REASONS.

RESEARCH TO BE DONE:
1. Read/Watch at least 3 plays/dramas of Shakespeare of different genres, say comedy,
tragedy and historical play.

ARRANGEMENT OF THIS PROJECT:


1. (INTRODUCTION)Write about Shakespeare as a dramatist
2. (BODY)Write about the 3 plays in short and which genre you enjoyed reading/watching.
Mention the play you would have loved to have in your syllabus and why.
3. (CONCLUSION) Write a comprehensive summary of your choice
4. Use pictures wherever required to beautify your project.

me the golden opportunity to do this wonderful project. I offer my sincere appreciation for
the learning opportunities provided to me by my principal (Name of the principal). Doing
research work and learning through fun was the best part. I am really thankful to my teacher
and the English department for providing me with the opportunity to watch some world-
class movies of Satyajit Ray and to explore the world of Shakespeare. I am really thankful to
my parents and friends who helped me a lot in finalizing the project within the limited time
frame.
