LA2 Time Clauses

Task 1: Identify the Time clauses in the following sentences.

1. While Sammy was working in the garden, his dog suddenly started barking for
no apparent reason.
2. Somebody knocked at the door when we were having supper.
3. I'll do the washing up while you're putting the kids to bed.
4. As you stir the batter mixture, it will thicken to the consistency of cream.

Task 4: Shortened time clauses/phrases


See in this example how a time clause (conjunction + Subject + VERB) can
be changed into a participle time phrase (conjunction + subject +
PARTICIPLE)
Example: Before he entered the house, he removed his shoes. =
Before entering the house, he removed his shoes.

Practice with these sentences:
