About
● The central government launched the Pandemic Fund Project with a corpus of $25 Million
to strengthen Animal Health Security in India. The fund will also help to strengthen Pan-

AI, Srijan at IIT Jodhpur.

About
● The Center for Generative AI named ‘Srijan’ will be established at IIT Jodhpur. The proj-
ect will be jointly developed by IndiaAI and Meta.
● “YuvAi Initiative for Skilling and Capacity Building” was also launched in collaboration
with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) along with ‘Srijan’.
● This initiative has been launched for the advancement of open-source artificial intelli-
gence (AI) in India.
‘Srijan’: Generative AI-Centre of Excellence (COE)
● The Center for Generative AI, Srijan, is also called the Centre of Excellence. It has been
established at IIT Jodhpur.
● It aims to advance research and development in AI while fostering the growth of respon-
sible and ethical AI technologies in India.
● The imitative will also support and enhance open science innovation across the AI tech-
nology landscape.
● The centre will work towards education, capacity building, and policy advisory and thus
will empower the next generation of researchers, students, and practitioners with the

Bridging Talent Gap
● It aims to bridge the AI talent gap in the country by training 100,000 students and young
developers aged 18-30 to leverage open-source large language models (LLMs) to address
real-world challenges.
Capacity Building
● The program will aim to build capacity in generative AI skills, utilizing open-source LLMs
while fostering AI innovation across key sectors.
Imparting Training
● This initiative will also train one lakh youth, developers, and entrepreneurs who will be
contributing significantly to India’s AI ecosystem across critical sectors such as health-
care, education, agriculture, smart cities, and financial inclusion.
Establishment of a Gen AI Resource Hub
● This initiative also provides for the establishment of a Gen AI Resource Hub with cours-
es, case studies, and open datasets, an LLM for Young Developers Course designed by
Meta; and Master Training Activation Workshops.
● The programs will introduce participants to foundational AI concepts.
LLM Hackathons
● The program will also feature Unleash LLM Hackathons, where students will submit AI
solutions to address real-world problems, with top ideas receiving mentoring, seed grants,
and market support.
Supporting Startups
● Further, the AI Innovation Accelerator will identify and support 10 student-led startups
experimenting with open-source AI models, offering incubation and visibility​.
Significance of Initiatives
Development of Research Ecosystem
● These initiatives will create a robust ecosystem for research, skill development, and open-
source innovation and thus will contribute to advancing AI technology while ensuring its
responsible and ethical deployment.
Achieving $5 Trillion Economy
● These initiatives will also support India’s ambitious goal of becoming a $5 trillion econ-
omy by equipping the nation’s youth to lead in the global AI arena.
● It will also secure India’s position as a leader in technological advancement and economic

National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM)


Context

The Central Government is planning to relaunch the mission to preserve ancient


manuscripts.

About
● The Union Ministry of Culture is planning to “revive and relaunch” the National Mission
for Manuscripts (NMM).
● It is also planning to form an autonomous body to help preserve ancient texts in India.
● The body will be named National Manuscripts Authority which will work under the aegis
of the Ministry of Culture.
Current State of Preservation of Ancient Manuscripts in India
● National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM) is the nodal agency to preserve ancient texts
in India.
● It was established in 2003. It is part of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.
● The NMM has prepared metadata of 52 lakh manuscripts and roughly over 3 lakh titles
have been digitized by it.

● Only one-third of digitized metadata has been uploaded by the entity to date.
● Further, in the past 21 years, the agency has undertaken preventive and curative conser-
vation of 9 crore folios.
