following:
 Vertical Conveyance: By Tower Crane, Mobile Crane, Material Loading Platform, or other suitable
machinery.
 For Horizontal Conveyance: By Forklift, Bobcat, Pallet Jack, or other suitable machinery or
equipment.
 Ceiling Boards shall be placed at:
 Dry covered area and be stored nearly, flat stacks off the ground or floor. Kept clean, dry, and
protected from the elements.
 Remove the panels from the cartons 24 hours before installation to acclimatize to interior
conditions.

INSPECTION
Ceiling Board Visual & Measure
Material delivered at site shall be in good condition or not
damaged.
Material delivered to site shall be same grade as per
specified in the project specification.

Ceiling Visual & Measure

Batten Size and quantity, rusted or dented materials shall be
rejected immediately.

6.0 PROCEDURE

6.1 Preparation Works

I. Obtain relevant approval For Construction or Shop Drawing before commencement of work.
II. Surveyor to provide FFL +1000mm marking on each RC Column and gridline offset 1.0meter marking on
Floor as control point.
III. Obtain confirmation on allowance for M&E services and coordinate on site.
IV. For installation height exceed 1.2m, consider erection of scaffold.
V. Carry out Material Inspection Request (MIR) for every delivery on site to confirm the specification and
supplier.
VI. Ensure defective works at the soffit of slab is completed prior to any ceiling work started.
VII. The reference ceiling level should be established first in coordination with other services trade like lighting
fixtures, air conditioning grillers, sprinklers etc.

VIII. Ensure and determine M&E interfaced works; first fix is in-place for the commencement of ceiling works.

6.2 Installation of Ceiling Hanger

I. First to mark the ceiling level with offset of board thickness to allow for the ceiling framing to be
dimensioned.

Figure 1.0: Marking ceiling Level

II. Once the required and final ceiling level is set, installation of wall bracket shall be started next.
III. Cut and bend the ceiling batten and is nailed on the soffit of PT slab with depth no more than 20mm.
IV. Carried out on site load test by hanging 1 bag of 50kg Cement bag for at least 12 hours.
V. To determine the direction of M&E services, consider the layout for primary and secondary runner to
reduce the cutting / modification work for any opening in future.
VI. Installation of ceiling batten hanger shall be started with spacing 1200mm c/c horizontally and 900mm c/c
vertically. The first primary runners shall be installed maximum 200mm away from the wall for rigid
support and followed by every 900mm c/c.

VII. The secondary runners shall be started below the primary runners with spacing of 610mm c/c.

FIGURE 3.0: Fixing of Secondary Runner to Primary Runner

VIII. Work Inspection Request (WIR) to be carried out with consultant prior ceiling board installation work.

6.3 Ceiling Board Installation Procedure

I. Final check again the level using laser any deflection on the framing system. Ensure that all the M&E
services are tested and confirmed by the consultant.
II. Only after that, installation of ceiling boards can be commenced.

III. After completion of board installation, services opening or manhole opening to be marked on board
and is ready for inspection.
IV. Work Inspection Request (WIR) to be carried out with consultant prior cutting of ceiling board work.
V. All identified opening marks to be cut open and add additional runners at both side and support at
corner.

6.4 Joint Treatment

I. First coat of ASG compound filler should be applied in between the board joints as well as screw holes
with plaster trowel with plastering hawk.
II. Joint tape should be embedded into the joint filler to reinforce the joints between boards.

FIGURE 5.0: Installation of joint tape in between board joints.

III. Once the first coat has dried, a second coat of joint filler should be applied with 100mm width on both side of
thecentof the joint tape (200mm width).
IV. A very thin third coat of joint filler should be applied with a minimum width no less than 150mm beyond both
sides of the centre of the joint tape. (300mm width). After the third coat is dried, the skim surface should be
sanded and smoothed.
