Surah Hujurat is the 49th surah (chapter) of the Qur’an with 18 ayat.

It
focuses on social etiquette among the Muslims and between the Muslims
and the Prophet, and notably states that faith is proven through action, not
words. This Surah is very beautiful . I would like to share with you the 9
golden rules extracted from Surah Hujurat.
1. “Fa Tabayyanu – Investigate: when you receive an
information, lest you harm people out of ignorance.
2. “Fa Aslihu“-Make settlement: between your brothers as believers
are brothers.
3. “Wa Aqsitu “– Act justly: whenever there is a dispute try for
settlement and act justly among both parties as Allah loves those
who act justly.
4. “La Yaskhar”– Don’t ridicule people, perhaps they may be
better than you to Allah.
5. “Wa La Tanabazu”– Do not call each other with off ensive
nicknames
6. “Wa La Talamizu“- Do not insult one another.
7. “Ijtanibu Kaseeran minaz-Zan”-Avoid negative assumptions,
indeed some of the assumptions are sins.
8. “Wa La Tajassasu” : Do not spy on each other
9. “Wa La Yagtab”– Do not backbite each other. Its a major sin
equivalent to eating your dead brother’s flesh.

The following are the commands in Surah Al-Hujrat:

1. Prohibitions of making decisions in advance (in doctrinal,
sociopolitical, economic, and other issues in words and deeds)
before God Almighty and His Messenger.
2. Prohibition of raising one voice above the voice of the Prophet,
nor speak aloud to him in talk. In other words, command to show
utmost respect to the Messenger of God.
3. Prohibition of calling the Messenger of God from behind the
rooms; rather, they should be patience enough till he could come
out to them.
4. Whenever an evil-doer comes to you with intelligence, do not
acknowledge it unless you investigate its veracity, otherwise, if
you do something in ignorance, you may have done something
wrong and thereafter you may regret what you have done.
5. You should never expect the Messenger of God to obey you in
much of the matter, otherwise, you would surely be in trouble. In
other words, the believers are expected to obey the Prophet’s
commands rather than expecting him to obey them.
6. Whenever two parties or groups among the believers engage in
fighting, then make peace between them both. But if one of them
outrages against the other, then fight against the one that
outrages till it complies with the Command of Allah. Then if it
complies [and ceases outrage], then make reconciliation between
them justly, and be equitable.
7. Believers are nothing else than brethren, then, always make
reconciliation amongst your brethren.
8. Believing men should abstain from deriding other believing
brethren. Likewise, believing women are strictly forbidden from
deriding other women, as they may be better than them.
9. A believer must avoid suspicion, as some suspicions are sins.
Likewise, one must avoid spying on others and backbiting one
another.
10. Islam rejects all racial, political, ethnological, tribal,
geographical, economic, intellectual, cultural, and social
segregation and places fear of God as the standard for distinction
between virtues and vice.
11. The true believers are those who believe in Allah and His
Messenger (S) and then doubt not but strive with their
possessions and their lives for the cause of Allah.
12. do not image that you render a service to the Noble Prophet by
being a Muslim and requesting favor in return; rather, being
guided to the Islamic faith and embracing it are great Divine
Favors conferred upon man by God.
