MINI PROPOSAL 3
BACKGROUND STUDY:
Natural disasters are catastrophic events that occur due to natural phenomena and can have
significant and long-lasting impacts on human life, property, and the environment. Their
frequency and severity have increased in recent years due to climate change, environmental
degradation, and urbanization. To mitigate the impact of natural disasters, various
organizations and agencies work together to develop disaster risk reduction strategies,
emergency preparedness plans, and response mechanisms. Overall, a coordinated and multi-
sectoral approach is required to reduce the impact of natural disasters on human life and the
environment.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The existing disaster management systems rely on data from various sources, including
satellite imagery, weather forecasts, etc. Those data will then be channel through mass media
and social media. However, the accuracy and reliability of this data are limited, and the rapid
change on the weather conditions may affecting weather patterns and making it more difficult
to accurately predict future weather conditions.. Moreover, the lack of community
engagement and participation in this dire situation often leads to ineffective communication
and inadequate response to emergencies. There is a need for a more efficient and cost-
effective approach to natural disaster management that involves community participation and
engagement.
PROJECT AIM:
The aim of a natural disaster management mobile app is to develop a user-friendly and
accessible mobile application that provides individuals and communities with essential
information and tools to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters. The app
act as the disaster alert that publicize either potential natural disaster through forecast or
sharing real-time disaster from the crowd. The mobile app also suggesting the right solution to
handle those disaster.
EXPECTED OUTPUT:
The expected output of the natural disaster management mobile app includes:
User-friendly and accessible mobile application: The project aims to deliver a mobile app
that is easy to use, intuitive, and accessible to all individuals and communities, regardless
of their technical skills or level of literacy.
Disaster preparedness information and tools: The mobile app should provide users with
information and tools to prepare for natural disasters, including emergency planning
checklists, evacuation procedures, and access to emergency supplies.
Real-time disaster updates and alerts: The mobile app should provide real-time updates
on the location, severity, and progression of natural disasters, as well as alerts and
notifications on emergency response efforts and the availability of resources.
Disaster recovery information and resources: The mobile app should provide users with
information and resources to assist with recovery efforts, including information on
available resources and services, assistance with applying for government aid, and
counseling services.
TARGET USER:
The target users for the natural disaster management mobile app are individuals and
communities at risk of natural disasters, including residents of disaster-prone areas,
emergency responders and officials, travelers and tourists, and government agencies and
NGOs.
MARKET VALUE:
The proposed mobile app has significant market potential in disaster-prone regions worldwide.
Natural catastrophes are on the rise, technology is advancing, and there is a growing demand
for integrated disaster management solutions. Globally, it is anticipated that the demand for
planning and response to natural disasters will only grow, creating potential for disaster
management mobile applications to expand their user bases.
