(VERBS OF LIKING AND DISLIKING)

A. LÝ THUYẾT
-Khi muốn dùng một động từ chỉ một hàng động khác ở sau động từ chỉ sự thích, ta
phải sử dụng danh động từ (V_ing) hoặc to Vnt mà nghĩ không có quá nhiều sự thay
đổi
1. Động từ chỉ sự yêu, thích:
- Các động từ chỉ yêu thích thường gặp: love (yêu), enjoy ( thích, tận hưởng), adore
( thích), prefer ( thích hơn), fancy (thích)
2. Động từ chỉ sự ghét, không thích
- Các động từ chỉ sự ghét, không thích việc gì đó: dislike/ don’t like ( không thích),
hate ( ghét), detest (căm ghét)
Form:
Like/enjoy/love/fancy/adore/prefer/dislike/hate/detest/ + Ving

Start/begin/finish/end + Ving

VD: My mom doesn’t like cooking

Lan enjoys learning English
I love watching TV/ listening to music/ reading comics
3. Verb+ V-ing/ to V
Những động từ đi với cả danh động từ và động từ nguyên thể có “to mà không
thay đổi về nghĩa.

Verbs Verbs + Ving Verbs + to V

like Like + Ving Like + to V
love Love + Ving Love + to V
hate Hate + Ving Hate + to V
Prefer Prefer Ving Prefer + to V
(thích hơn)

Eg. My mother prefers to eat out.

4. Verbs + V-ing

 DON’T MIND + VING: không phiền

Eg. I don’t mind cooking
5. Những động từ theo sau là V-ing hoặc to V nhưng có nghĩa khác nhau
Trong tiếng Anh, có một số động từ theo sau bởi V-ing hay to V lại mang nghĩa khác
nhau. Dưới đây là một số động từ đó:

1. TRY
- Try to V: cố gắng làm gì
VD: I try to learn English every day.
- Try + Ving: thử làm gì
VD: Have you tried eating sushi?
2. STOP
- Stop + Ving: dừng 1 thứ mình đang làm
Eg. Stop talking!

- Stop to V: Dừng cái mình đang làm -> để làm cái khác.
Eg. I stopped to ask for directions.

3. REMEMBER: NHỚ
- Remember + Ving: nhớ đã làm gì
Eg. I remember closing the window before I left the room.

- Remember to V: nhớ phải làm gì (câu dặn dò)

Eg. Remember to drink water everyday.
 Remember to feed the dog.

4. REGRET: HỐI HẬN, HỐI TIẾC

- Regret + Ving: Hối tiếc vì đã làm gì
Eg. I regretted telling my secret to her.
- Regret to V: Tiếc khi phải làm gì (thường dùng trong thông báo…)
Eg. We regret to tell you that you didn’t pass the exam.

Prefer
- Prefer Ving to Ving: thích làm gì hơn làm gì
Eg. I prefer staying at home to hanging out.
- Prefer Noun to Noun: thích cái gì hơn cái gì
Eg. I prefer tea to coffee.
- Prefer to V: thích làm gì hơn
Eg. My mother prefers to eat out.
