Clinical Decision Support for Advanced Imaging

An ARIA OIS value-added service


Clinical Decision Support (CDS) for Advanced Imaging is an easy-to-use decision support tool for
ordering diagnostic imaging that is most appropriate for the patient. Seamless integration with the
ARIA® oncology information system (OIS) allows for streamlined consulting of diagnostic imaging to
comply with the PAMA* mandate.

3 Score = 7 to 9 Procedure is generally appropriate and acceptable for the
specific indication.
May be appropriate
Score = 4 to 6 Procedure may be appropriate and acceptable for the specific
indication. Additional clinical factors should be considered.
Rarely appropriate
5 Score = 1 to 3
acceptable for the specific indication.
Procedure is rarely appropriate and not generally considered

CDS for Advanced Imaging enables you to:


• Order imaging directly from the point of care
• Easily launch the CareSelect™ imaging clinical decision support mechanism (CDSM) within ARIA
• Quickly identify the most clinically appropriate imaging alternative with a simple scoring system
• Flexible consulting workflows: Provider initiated or delegate clinician initiated (Ordering provider must have
National Provider Identifier (NPI) entered in the system)

Prerequisites:
• ARIA v16.0 and above in radiation and/or medical oncology environments
• Varian SmartConnect® solution for remote internet access for installation, updates, upgrades, monitoring,
and service support via remote desktop administration (RDP)
• Active software support agreement (SSA) for ARIA OIS RO or MO

* Mandated by the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA), physicians ordering advanced diagnostic imaging services under Medicare
Part B will be required to consult approved evidence-based guidelines from the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National
Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) through a qualified clinical decision support mechanism (CDSM). CDS for Advanced Imaging
launches CareSelect™ imaging, a qualified CDSM solution provided by National Decision Support Company (NDSC).

Intended Use Summary


The ARIA® oncology information system for Radiation Oncology is a software solution that manages departmental administrative and clinical activities. ARIA for Radi-
ation Oncology aggregates information into a complete oncology-specific electronic medical record to support medical information management. ARIA for Radiation
Oncology provides for the scheduling of clinical activities, the capture of patient history information, the ability to document response to treatment, the storage of
patient documentation, and the capturing of activities for billing purposes.
