mCavite's Historical Sites

1. Julián Felipe Monument


Julián Felipe was a native Caviteño and is well known to be the composer of the Philippine
National Anthem. As a tribute to this enormous contribution to the history of the country, the
Julián Felipe Monument was erected in Cavite City in 1958.

3. General Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine

- The General Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine is the ancestral home and birthplace of the first
President of the Philippines, located in Kawit, Cavite. It was initially built in 1845 and
was then reconstructed in 1849.
- it was where the Philippine National Anthem was first played, serenading the first-ever
Philippine Flag made by Marcella Agoncillo.
4. Bonifacio Trial House (Museo ng Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio)

- the trial house stands as a museum and was formally inaugurated in November 2014.
The museum serves as the home of life-size dioramas that depict Andres Bonifacio’s
trial scene.
- It is located in Maragondon, Cavite.
5. Battle of Binakayan Monument
- The monument of the Battle of Binakayan is the site where the bloody war occurred. It
depicts the Filipinos’ struggle for independence that today’s generations now enjoy.
6. Battle of Imus Monument

- The Battle of Imus was the first significant battle between the Filipinos and the Spanish
colonial regime in Cavite.
- The sculpture depicts Emilio Aguinaldo leading seven Filipino soldiers with a Philippine
flag as a backdrop.

7. Immaculate Conception Parish Church

- Also known as Dasmariñas Church, the Immaculate Conception Parish is the first
Catholic parish church in the province of Dasmariñas, Cavite. Just like most Spanish
churches, this one is constructed from stone and was built after the province was
established as a separate parish.
- Because of the crucial events that occurred in the church itself, the National Historical
Commission of the Philippines declared a historical structure or marker in 1986.
8. General Trias Church
- General Trias Church, also known as St. Francis of Assisi Church, was the first church
established by the Franciscans and was then transferred to the Jesuits of Cavite City
(formerly Cavite Puerto) in 1624, and then finally becoming a separate parish in
September 1753.

LAGUNA
1. Jose Rizal Shrine
- As one of the most popular historical sites in Laguna, the Jose Rizal shrine serves as a
heritage site and major landmark that is a "full replica of Jose Rizal's home."

2. Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery


- Nagacarlan Underground Cemetery heritage site located in a chapel situated in the back
town of Nagcarlan, Barangay Bambang. With its brick walls, iron railings, and arched
gates, the only underground cemetery among old churches and religious sites that holds
natural history within its crypt where wealthy people and friars in the 19th century would
be buried.
3. Jose Rizal Monument Plaza
- Other than the Rizal Shrine in Calamba, the Jose Rizal Monumental Plaza is located in
the town proper of Binan, Laguna.

4. Magdalena Plaza
- The plaza served as a venue for religious and social activities, which was probably near
a city hall given the layout of settlements at that time.

BATANGAS
1. Taal Basilica
- The Minor Basilica of Saint Martin of Tours or Taal Basilica is recognized as the biggest
church in the continent. It has a history that spans more than five decades.

2. The Immaculate Conception Parish Church

- Batangas has many heritage churches that are more than a century old. One notable
structure is the Immaculate Conception Parish Church located in Balayan.

3. St. Raphael the Archangel Parish Church


- This church in Calaca is more than a century old. It was part of the history of the town
when Calaca was established in the 1830s.
4. Basilica Menor de Inmaculada Concepcion

- Its consecration took place in 1857 and Pope Pious XII recognized the church as a
Basilica Minor in 1948. The church you see in Batangas City is more than 150 years old!

5. St. John the Evangelist Church


- all the way back to 1584 when it was still a wooden structure. In the 1730s, the
townspeople finally built a stone edifice for the St. John the Evangelist Church.

RIZAL

1. Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs
- The Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs are an important historic site because it is
believed to be the oldest known artworks in the country. These ancient images were
carved into a wall of solid rock in the mountainside of Angono and Binangonan.

2. Antipolo Cathedral
- The Antipolo Cathedral sits atop a hill in Antipolo City from where visitors can get a
panoramic view of the cityscape below. This church was completed in 1632 and has
been a well-known destination for travelers since it houses the image of Our Lady of
Peace and Good Voyage.
Quezon
1. Malagunlong Bridgem (Tayabas, Quezon)
- This bridge is the oldest in town and was built during the Spanish colonial period using
Spanish and indigenous engineering skills and materials.
- he bridge was built under the direction of the “Ministro del Pueblo,” Fray Antonio, a
Franciscan priest, between 1840 to 1850.
- The bridge was made by the people of Tayabas through forced labor, also known as
“Polo” labor.
2. Alitao and Malaoa Bridgesm (Tayabas, Quezon)
- The bridges are said to be a century old, although still passable.
3. Kutang San Diego (Spanish Fort)
- The structure was built in the late 18th century under the supervision of Franciscans. It
was built as a watchtower for the town against sea pirates.

4. San Diego de Alcala Fortress (Gumaca, Quezon)


- This fortress, proclaimed as a national treasure by the National Historical Commission in
1981, was built under the leadership of Franciscan Father Francisco Coas.
5. Iskong Bantay Watchtower (Atimonan town proper, Quezon)
- Built by the Spanish authorities as a watchtower to warn the townsfolk of Atimonan of
the pirate attacks. it has a good view of Lamon Bay and the island of Alabat The tnower
served as an observation and defense tower during the times when pirate raids were
rampant in the southern parts of Luzon
6. San Antonio de Alcala Park (Maharlika Highway, Gumaca Quezon)
- It was named after the town‘s patron saint, the park features a promenade area facing
Lamon Bay and the neighboring island of Alabat.
7. Century-Old Bells: Catholic Church Compound (Guinayangan, Quezon)
- Living representations of the municipality's historic Catholicism. A collection of all the
bells used by the Catholic Church to summon its members to their commitments to the
Almighty, the chimes of which have stayed unchanged in the minds of the faithful in
remembering previous festivals and traditions
