Notes
1.The presence of HLA-B27 is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis and other associated inflammatory diseases, such
as psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, reactive arthritis certain eye disorders such as acute anterior uveitis and iritis.
2.HLAB27 is often used as a screening tool for ankylosing spondylitis since 90% of patients have HLA-B27 positivity.
3.This test is conducted using Real Time PCR based IVD approved kits. The performance characteristics have been verified in
the laboratory of Lupin Diagnostics.
4.The result pertains only to the specimen received in the laboratory and should be correlated with clinical and other laboratory
findings.
5.The test results are for the information of, and interpretation by the treating doctor only.
6.Mutations in the primer binding site, insufficient DNA and improper specimen collection, storage and transport conditions can
influence the result.
7.PCR is a highly sensitive technique; common reasons for false positive, false negative or invalid results are contamination during
specimen collection, selection of inappropriate specimens and inherent PCR inhibitors in the specimen.
8.Apart from all the precautions taken and cross checking of results during Nucleic acid tests, the current available data indicates
the technical error rate for all such analysis is approximately 1-2%.
9.Kindly correlate the results with clinical status of the patient. If the results do not correlate, they should kindly be reconfirmed.
