1. Abstract
Measure the average and RMS value by device it working on creating a
waves of different frequencies called signal generator and show the
waves by Oscilloscope .
2. Introduction
The Oscilloscope : it’s a type of electronic test instrument that graphically
displays varying voltage of one or more signals as a function of time .
Signal generator : is one of a class of electronic devices that generates electrical
signals with set properties of amplitude, frequency, and wave shape
We need to know the shape of wave for choose what the suitable for each
device and if we change the frequency what will happen .

3. Materials and Equipment

1. Oscilloscope
2. Signal generator
3. Wires
4. Multimeter

4. Procedure
1. Step 1: check the equipment and devices .
2. Step 2: connect the signal generator in electricity .
3. Step 3: connect the oscilloscope in signal generator by wires .
4. Step 4: set the frequency indicator on any frequency we need and put the
shape of wave which will measured and calculate for ,By signal generator .
5. Step 5: click on auto-set, wave and values will show on oscilloscope and we
can change many things like length and width of wave .
6. Step 6: connect the multimeter in oscilloscope and measure VRMS by DC
voltage .
7. Step 7: Take notes and values , And solve the values mathematically.

6. Calculations

Take the value of V RMS from multimeter for each shape and calculate the V
average.
1- Sine wave :
1
V ( avg )=2 ∗V ( rms)= 0.707*2.3 =1.6 V
2

2- Triangle wave :
2
V ( avg )= ∗V (rms) = (2*0.022)/π = 0.014 V
π

3- Square wave :
V ( avg )=V (rms) = 0.015 V

7. Results & Discussion

When we calculated and measure the V avg &V rms and frequency we
found there is error between the values .
Measured value−Real value
∗100 = ((1996-2000)/2000)*100 =0.2% (sine wave)
Real value
= ((1984-2000)/2000)*100=0.8% (triangle wave)
= ((2008-2000)/2000)*100=0.4% (square wave)
8. Conclusions
We found the V average , V RMS , PK-PK and the minimum & maxiumum
voltage for each waves shape and how it looks like if we change the
frequency and length and width of wave to what change in period for each .

Knew how to generate waves if we have a AC voltage source .
