What is AI?

A broad field that means different things

to different people
Defining “artificial” is easy but no broad
consensus in precise, concrete terms for
“intelligence”:
▪ exclusive province of human being?
▪ natural phenomenon exhibited by
living organisms?
▪ an arbitrarily specified set of abilities?
▪ other definitions??
OBJECTIVE OF AI

The basic objective of AI (also called heuristic

programming, machine intelligence, or the
simulation of cognitive behavior) is to enable
computers to perform such intellectual
tasks as decision making, problem
solving, perception, understanding
human communication (in any language,
and translate among them).
Scope of AI

Ultimate effort to make computer

program that can solve problems and
achieve goals required.
1. Game Playing
2. Speech Recognition Machine
3. Language detection Machine
4. Expert System
5. Robotics and many more
CO’s(Course Outcomes)
⚫ CO1- Identify basic concepts and scope of Artificial
Intelligence
⚫ CO2 -Compare different AI search techniques and
apply them on real world problems
⚫ CO3-Apply basic principles of AI in solutions that
require problem solving, inference, perception,
knowledge representation, and reasoning
⚫ CO4-Develop intelligent algorithms for constraint
satisfaction problems and also design intelligent
systems for Game Playing
⚫ CO5-Classifydifferent learning paradigms and its
application in Neural Network
⚫ CO6-Explain concepts of Natural Language
processing and discuss Expert System
PO’s(Program Outcomes)
1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an
engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering
problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics,
natural sciences, and engineering sciences
3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system
components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate
consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and
environmental considerations.
4. Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of
experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to
provide valid conclusions.
5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern
engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering
activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health,
safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to
the professional engineering practice.
Continue……
7. Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and
environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable
development.
8. Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and
norms of the engineering practice.
9. Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams,
and in multidisciplinary settings.
10. Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering
community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write
effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give
and receive clear instructions.
11. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management
principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to
manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in
independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
PSO’s (Programme Specific
Outcomes)
PSO-1
To understand and apply knowledge of mathematics,
system analysis & design, Data Modelling, Cloud Technology,
and latest tools to develop computer based solutions in the
areas of system software, Multimedia, Web Applications, Big
data analytics, IOT, Business Intelligence and Networking
systems.

PSO-2
To understand the evolutionary changes in computing,
apply standards and ethical practices in project development
using latest tools & Technologies to solve societal problems
and meet the challenges of the future.

PSO-3
To employ modern computing tools and platforms to be an
entrepreneur, lifelong learning and higher studies.
OUTCOME OF AI

AI increases efficiency and refocuses daily tasks

and efforts with an emphasis on creation and
creativity. AI will make us more productive, so people
can focus on building the next best thing. This allows
people to do their jobs better and focus on high-value
customer activities.

Artificial intelligence can dramatically improve the

efficiencies of our workplaces and can augment the
work humans can do. When AI takes over repetitive or
dangerous tasks, it frees up the human workforce to do
work they are better equipped for—tasks that involve
creativity among others.
