1. Introduction of GoogleEarth-Pro:

• Google earth is computer program that renders 3D representation of

earth based primarily on satellite imagery.
• Program maps earth by superimposing satellite images, aerial
photography and GIS data onto 3D globe, allowing users to see cities and
landscapes from various angles.
• User can explore globe by entering address and co-ordinates, or by using
keywords.
• Google earth is able to show various kinds of images overlaid on surface
of earth and is also web map service client.
• In addition to earth navigation, google earth provides a series of other
tools through desktop application, including measure distance tool.

2. Introduction of Global Mapper:

• Global mapper is geographic information system (GIS) software package

currently developed by blue marble geographics that runs on Microsoft
windows.
• Global mapper handles both vector, raster and elevation data and
provides viewing conversion and other GIS features.
• Advantages of Global Mapper:
• Data importing/exporting
• Access to online data
• Flexible view interface
• Digitizing
• Feature rendering
• Terrain analysis
• Map printing and web publishing
• 3D data
• Prepare contours
• Elevation grids
• Calculate cut and fill volume
• Creates density grids etc.

6
3. Steps to prepare contour map:

1) Open data file created in Google earth pro.

2) Go to file, click on download online imaginary/topo maps. In window

click on SRTM world wide elevation data.

7
8
3) Go to analysis, click on generate contour, set contour interval and
necessary data and apply.

9
 Export file as .dwg file:
• Go to file menu, export, and export vector/lidar format. Select file type
as .dwg and version as AutoCAD 2018. And open file in AutoCAD or civil-
3D for design purpose.

10
4. Basics of civil 3D Software:

• Autodesk civil 3D is design and analytical software which helps catering

civil engineering problems during design and analysis and provides best
solution to the problems.
• It supports building information modelling (BIM) workflows.
• Civil 3D allows you to store and share design data with existing autodesk
AutoCAD users.
• For best practices of design and analysis with all complete 3D aspects,
civil 3D created and implemented in field of design.
 Applications of civil 3D:
• It is professional design tool which perfectly designs the infrastructural
project in accordance with provided data.
• Possesses good workflow collaboration
• Building information model can be created in detail
• Increases productivity and quality
• Error-ridden manual drawing updates
• Offers familiar design environment
• Enables users to create 2D cross sections and add them to 3D model
quickly and easily.
• Drafting and documentation made much easier.
 Features available:
• Visual analysis
• Surface modelling
• Parcel design
• Corridor design
• Geospatial analysis
 Indian version of civil 3D:
• Metro tunnel
• Metro bridge
• Tunnel with two lane road
• Day light rock cut
• RCC drain
• Service road etc.

5. Steps of corridor design using point file:

1) Obtain point file in civil 3D

• Go to points, point creation tool. Click on last option import points.
Open file in pop up window, specify point file format PENZD (comma-
delimated).

12
2) Create surface:
• Go to surface, create surface, name surface as surface-1. Change style as
contour 2 to 10 m background. Click ok.
• To display surface go to modify, surface, add data, point group. Select all
point. Click apply and ok.

13
14
3) Go to surface properties. Change surface style no display. Click on
apply and ok.
4) Create alignment:
• Go to alignment, alignment creation tools, set design criteria like speed,
lables to be included etc.
• After set input, draw alignment with at least one curve.

15
5) Create profile:
• Go to profile, create surface profile. Add surface created. Click on draw
in profile view. Make necessary inputs.
• To draw profile, click any place on screen.

16
17
• Go to profile creation tool. Name profile as final profile. Set necessary
things. In profile layout, draw final profile with tangent and curves.
6) Create assembly:
• Go to assembly, set necessary data. And click in screen.
• Go to tool palettes (ctrl+3), in basic, set basic lane, basic shoulder, basic
curb, side walk etc. and create assign it into assembly.

18
7) Corridor design:
• Go to corridor, set surface, alignment and profile named before.
• Click ok, corridor will be created.

8) Calculate super-elevation:
• Go to modify, alignment, go to superelevation, calculate/edit
superelevation. Set necessary data and click on finish.

19

9) Generating different Reports:

• To generate different reports, go to tool space, Indian reports.
• Different varieties of reports are available.
• It contains reports on alignments, profiles, combined geometry,
corridors, points and it’s subcategories.
• To display reports, double click on report, and export numerical data in
form of .html, .doc, .xls whichever user wants.
