CHAPTER 2: BASIC COMPUTATIONS

The Basic computation for housing units will always depend on the data you will provide to the table. If the data were
sufficient, then the computation of the units and the whole project is in vain. The author wanted to present and show to
you the basic requirements or way how to solve for the horizontal housing project:

Statement of the problem:

The Barangay xyz is currently facing a serious problem when it comes to housing matters. The government
intends to claim the land where the people of the barangay xyz are residing. Because the land where these settlers are
living is government property and the settlers only have a rights certificate from the government. Any time the
government can reclaim the said land and relocate its settlers to another place.
Because of the drastic change of the city where barangay xyz is located, the government decided to relocate the
said people to another lot which is located in barangay abc where a huge amount of land of the government is
available. The intention of the government is to provide numerous household units and also for the job centers as well
as farmlands for the settlers to use. According to NHA, the lot is 50 hectares in area and wanted to use the 30% for the
said facilities and farmland. The remaining lot is allocated for the housing project. The NHA provided quick but useful
data for your perusal:

1. Considerations:
a. BP 220 : Since the housing project is from the government you should consider the monthly
income of the families. The following data is from PSA:
i. Backlog: 1000 Households
ii. Percentage of Income of the families
1. 30% of the households earning 15k per month
2. 40% of the households earning 20k per month
3. 30% of the households earning 35k per month
iii. Non-saleable: 40% of the remaining lot area
1. Parks
2. Road networks
3. Administrative Offices
4. Commercial Stalls
5. Utilities
iv. Saleable: 60% of the remaining lot area
1. Rowhouse
2. Single attached/duplex
3. Single detached
4. Commercial Stalls

Requirement:
Provide a computation solution for the said problem that barangay xyz is facing. The requirement should be
placed inside the next pages and must submit to the time and date the instructor provided:
1. How many row houses can you provide?
2. How many Single attached/duplexes can you provide?
3. How many Single detach houses can you provide?
4. Do computed housing units completely equate or outgrew the required housing units?
5. If yes, how many units are the excess housing units that the government can provide?
6. If not, what is your solution to this problem?
