FRAT HOUSE - NIGHT

Bodys by Car Seat Headrest plays. Stereotypical frat party.

Led lights, strobes, house music, drinks, dancing. Camera
flows around the crowd, focusing quickly on small
conversations, shotguns, the dj, the pledges, bathrooms (and
what goes on in those bathrooms), bedrooms (and people
accidentally walking into bedrooms they wish they didn't walk
into). The camera finds its way into conversation to open the
dialogue for this film. The group stands in the back corner
of the party. A group of 8 20 year olds, 3 males, 5 femals. 2
of the men are wearing lulu legging pants, and a plain shirt,
the other is wearing light washed jeans and a t-shirt with a
band on it. The 5 girls all dressed in similar outfits, that
lack coverage of their body. They all are dancing but look
ready to leave. Brumny, the quote-un-quote leader, energetic,
friendly, beloved sophomore breaks the singing and silence of
the group.

BRUMNY
We hittin' Cues?

FRAT BROTHER 1
Yeah let's go.

Pledge 2 turns to the group of girls and guys they're with

FRAT BROTHER 2
Yo we're going to Cues, you comin'?

They all turn and nod.

GROUP
Yeah. Let's go.

The group starts to walk towards the exit.

DOUGIE
Yo! Brumny! Where you going?!

BRUMNY
Yo! Dougie whats up?! We're hittin'
Cues. You wanna come?

DOUGIE
Can't, gotta clean tonight.

BRUMNY
Shit that's right.

DOUGIE
Hey have you seen David?

BRUMNY
Nah why?

DOUGIE
Just wondering.

BRUMNY
Last time I saw him he was talking
with Jaucy. Sex maniac prolly left
with her already.

DOUGIE
That fucker's faded cleanup the past 2
weekends. It's ridiculous.

BRUMNY
I don't even wanna know the stds that
kids got.

The group is in the distance waiting for Brumny.

PLEDGE 1
Yo Brumny you coming?!

Brumny turns around.

BRUMNY
Oh shit my b, I'm coming!

Brumny turns back to Dougie.

BRUMNY
Peace out Doug.

Brumny daps up Dougie and then runs to the group.

DOUGIE
Fuckin David.

Dougie takes a step outside and picks up his phone to call

David.

INT. COLLEGE DORM ROOM - NIGHT

David is fucking Jaucy. The phone rings. It doesn't stop

ringing.

Created using Celtx

3.

JAUCY
Can you turn your phone off.

DAVID
Yeah sorry gimme a sec.

David reaches to his phone while the two continue to have

sex. He sees that it's Dougie and hangs up.

DAVID
Fuckin Dougie. Probably gonna yell at
me about some pledge bullshit.

JAUCY
Whatever.

The phone rings again.

JAUCY
Will you just turn your phone off.

DAVID
Alright sorry.

David hangs up the phone. The two continue.

EXT. FRAT HOUSE - NIGHT

Frustratling staring at his phone in disbelief from David's

lack of response. Dougie doesn't know what to do.

DOUGIE
Fuck. Fuck me. Fucking David.

PLEDGE 1
You good?

DOUGIE
No. I'm sick of the brit fading us.

PLEDGE 1
Oh you saw him walk away with Jaucy.

DOUGIE
It's ridiculous. Another night he
hasn't cleaned.

PLEDGE 1
What is that like a month straight?

Created using Celtx

4.

DOUGIE
Yeah. He's gonna get me rinsed again.

PLEDGE 1
I can call him.

DOUGIE
Tried that.

PLEDGE 1
Fuck dude. I guess another night
without David.

DOUGIE
Nah fuck this. I'm going to get him.

Dougie begins to walk past Pledge 1 and head onto the front
lawn of the frat house.

PLEDGE 1
You're out of your mind. What's the
point of going now.

DOUGIE
Prove a point. His brit ass can't just
fade everything and enjoy himself
while we get tortured.

Dougie turns around starts running to David. Quick cuts

between David and Jaucy together and David, drunkenly running
to David's dorm. He luckily sneaks his way into the dorm.

INT. COLLEGE DORM HALL - NIGHT

Dougie is running through the halls of David's dorm trying to

head to his room. While running through the halls, David's
roommate Blake sees him through the window of the common
room. Blake is in the middle of a conversation with his
friends while he gets up to stop Dougie. Getting to the door,
he yells.

BLAKE
Yo!

Dougie doesn't turn around.

BLAKE
YO! Dougie!

Dougie stops himself and turns around.

Created using Celtx

5.

BLAKE
The fuck are you doing? Why are you
running too?

DOUGIE
I'm coming to get David.

BLAKE
Oh some frat pleding shit?

DOUGIE
No. And wait, yeah no why did I run
here. I'm tired as fuck.

BLAKE
That's a steep run.

Dougie is panting from his run.

DOUGIE
Yeah. I gotta get David.

Dougie is almost at David and Blake's door.

BLAKE
I wouldn't go in there.

DOUGIE
Just unlock the door.

BLAKE
You know what's going on in there
right?

DOUGIE
I don't give a shit. I need David.
He'll thank me and you later. We gotta
get back to the house.

BLAKE
Fine. Your funeral... and maybe...
traumatzing experience.

Blake hands Dougie the key. The door opens. David and Jaucy
are very much so in the middle of something and freak. Jaucy
shrills. Opening credits.

DAVID
What the fuck!

They throw the covers over each other. David yells from under

the covers.

DAVID
Blake I gave you the heads up!

BLAKE
Ain't me D.

DAVID
Huh?

DOUGIE
Let's go David. I'm sick of your shit.

David gets out from under the covers.

DAVID
Doug? What the fuck are you doing
here? And Blake why would you let this
wanker into the room?!

Jaucy giggles to David when he says wanker. David looks down

to her and flirtatiously chuckles with her.

BLAKE
I don't know! He told me it was
something urgent. I told him he was
making a mistake.

DAVID
So then don't give him the fucking
key!

BLAKE
You know he was moving fast and like
breathing heavy, and I wanted him out
of my face so I just gave it to him.
Plus I'm tryna sleep homie.

David sits there thinking.

DOUGIE
Ok. Get up. Come clean and then you
can come back.

DAVID
You know I'm not doing that.

DOUGIE
I don't give a shit. Get up.

Created using Celtx

7.

DAVID
Fuck that you see I'm busy at the
moment.

DOUGIE
The whole PC is done picking up your
slack.

DAVID
Chill out. It's not that deep.

DOUGIE
Just get up and help. You can come
back. Jaucy will still be here.

Jaucy sits up.

JAUCY
Actually, I think I'm gonna go home.

David holding her back.

DAVID
Wait, wait, wait. No stay. I'll be
like 15 minutes. Max. I promise. Set a
timer.

Jaucy rolls her eyes and shows on her face that she's
thinking about leaving.

DAVID
C'mon. Please stay. I promise I'll be
quick.

David shoots up out of bed, naked.

DOUGIE
Woah!

Dougie covers his eyes. Blake chuckles.

DAVID
What?

David throws on underwear and a shirt, puts on shoes, kisses

Jaucy on the head.

DAVID
Be right back love.

Walks right up to Dougie who's waiting at the door and speaks

to his ear (a volume above whisper but quiet enough for Jaucy
not to hear).

DAVID
You cock blocking cunt. You owe me.

David turns back to Jaucy.

DAVID
Oy! Start the timer!

David turns and runs shoving Dougie as he goes past him.

Dougie chases after him. The two of them run to the frat
house. Quick cuts of them running. David hops on the only
electric scooter in the area and rides away from Dougie.

DOUGIE
Oh fuck you!

DAVID
I totally could get a drink-driving
(DUI in british GOOGLE THIS) for this.

David lowdly laughs as he cruises on. Quick cuts of him

riding to the house, Dougie running, and Jaucy sitting
awkwardly and silently with Blake in David and Blake's dorm
room.

BLAKE
Soooooo.....ummmm... I'm Blake by the
way.

JAUCY
Sarah.

BLAKE
Nice to meet you Sarah.

JAUCY
Nice to meet you too Blake.

Quick cuts back and forth between David arriving to the frat
house, Dougie chasing after him, David getting into the house
and cleaning up with everyone. All of the other pledges look
over at David and make snarky comments about him and who he
was with. David chirps Dougie for cock blocking him. More
fast cuts of cans and bottles being picked up, risers being
carried throughout the house, and Blake and Jaucy still
sitting awkwardly in the room.

9.

JAUCY
I like the poster.

BLAKE
Oh. Thanks.

JAUCY
Hey where's? The bathroom?

BLAKE
Oh I gotchu.

Blake shows Jaucy to the bathroom and unlocks the door for
her.

BLAKE
I'll just leave the dorm room door
open for you when you're done.

JAUCY
Aw. Thanks so much. It was nice
meeting you.

BLAKE
It was nice meeting you too.

David rushes to get the house clean.

DAVID
Cunt. We good?

DOUGIE
Yeah you're good.

DAVID
Sweet. Peace

David runs off as everyone messes and laughs with him he

turns around to flip off his friends. He gets back on his
scooter and rides back to the dorm. Sprints through the
halls. Sees Blake in the common room and stops bye.

BLAKE
She's definely passed out now.

DAVID
Fuck.

David runs back to the room. Realizes he left his key in the
room. Bangs on the door but there's no response, signaling
that Jaucy is asleep. David runs back to Blake.

Created using Celtx

10.

BLAKE
Locked yourself out?

DAVID
Shut up wanker just unlock the door
for me.

Blake's friends all call out to David.

GROUP
Oy! Wanker!

They all laugh.

DAVID
HaHa! What's up lads?!

Blake walks David back to the room and unlocks the door.

BLAKE
Night brotha.

DAVID
I appreciate it. Night.

The two dap up and David walks back in the room. The intense
montage music settles as David sees Jaucy deep asleep in his
bed. It's quiet now; David is alone in his room with his own
thoughts as Jaucy sleeps in his bed.

David changes his british accent to his original American

accent.

DAVID
Dammit. Blue balls.

David stands alone for a moment as he stares at his bed and

then looks down at the floor. Fade to black.

INT. DAVID'S HOUSE - NIGHTTIME

2 months earlier. David sits at the dinner table with his

parents. This is the last night before he drives and moves
into college. There's tension in the air. Mom breaks the
silence.

MOM
Soooooo.... David.... are you excited?

She tries to nudge David with her words and get a response
out of him. David looks over with negative enthusiasm.

Created using Celtx

11.

DAVID
Yeah. Sure.

DAD
Yeah? Sure? That's all you have? Dave
you're about to embark on the greatest
four years of your life. C'mon bud
there's got to be more than just a two
word response.

DAVID
I dunno. I'm excited it's just weird.
Kinda crazy. I'm going to college.

David spaces out as he says the last line. He's in shock

himself. His parents look at the two of each other. They're
nervous for him.

MOM
I know. It's pretty crazy. But you're
not worried right? There's nothing to
worry about.

DAVID
No. Not worried at all. It's just a
lot.

MOM
You're father and I are always a phone
call or text away whenever you need.

Mom looks over and makes a face at Dad to make sure that he
confirms her previous statement.

DAD
Yeah... we're always here.

Dad looks over to Mom to make sure that he said the right
thing and Mom confirms it.

DAD
But... who needs your parents when
you're at college right? You're going
to make all these great new friends,
maybe find yourself a girlfriend.

Dad makes a face to David and kind of nudges him with the
ending of his last words. David is bothered by that.

MOM
Mark.

Created using Celtx

12.

Mom makes a face at Dad showing that he probably crossed his

boundaries. There is a sense that David hasn't really ever
brought up any girls to his parents.

DAD
What? I'm just saying.

Dad tries to defend himself as he looks at Mom. Then, he

turns to David.

DAD
Look. I... I was just... your mother
and I met at school... and and it was
the greatest four years of our lives.
So great, that we wanted to spend the
rest of our lives together and have
you.

David sits there quietly, showing signs of discomfort. Mom

senses this.

MOM
Honey.

Mom takes a breath.

MOM
David. I think your father is getting
a little ahead of himself. But just
because we met at school does not mean
that you have to, or should, find your
person there. That stuff just happens
naturally. Don't force it. And enjoy
yourself too.

David smirks. He begins to show signs of losing his

discomfort and things being less awkward.

DAD
Yeah dude. Have some fun. No parents,
no rules-

MOM
Not true.

Dad takes a breath.

DAD
Mom and I aren't there. You're your
own man now. Enjoy that. Let lose.
Find some girls or... whatever.

Created using Celtx

13.

MOM
But be safe.

DAD
Yes. Of course. Be safe.

MOM
Do we need to get you condoms?

David is in shock by that question.

DAVID
Mom.

MOM
That's something parents do now right?

DAD
I dunno. I guess so. I bought them
myself at school.... but sure.

DAVID
Stop. Enough.

INT. DAVID'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

It's right after dinner and David is now in his room looking
around one last time. You can hear his parents laughing and
speaking in the far distance on the other side of the house.
David puts on a Youtube video and practices his accent.
David's messages pop up on his screen. (Either messages or
David gets a facetime call from his group chat. Everyone
enters the call)

"Easy money comin tmr" - Sean

"Easily" - Colin

"Davo's folding before the first word comes out" - Colin

"No possible way he actually does this" - Sean

"Doing anything just to get negative bitches" - Jeremy

"Just wait and see" - Blake

"This is gonna be bad 4 u Davo" - Sean

"He's clutching this" - Kyle

"The only thing he clutching is his own meat every night" -

Colin

The whole group laughs (Either laughing emoji reaction or

laughing reaction to text, or the call hears and sees them
all laughing)

"Haha fuck you. I'm goin to sleep" - David

"C'mon Davo don't get so butthurt" - Sean

"Yeah Davo, stay on" - Jeremy

"Nah fr tho I gotta go to sleep. I'm waking up mad early for

move in." - Davo

"Ok fine." - Sean

"Night y'all" - Davo

"Night"

"Goodnight"

"Peace"

"Fuck y'all"

"Don't fuck this up Davo".

The phone hangs up. Davo is alone with his thoughts and
worries. He turns of his phone, lays there, and thinks. Davo
then eventually takes a breath and closes his eyes.

GOING TO COLLEGE

MOVING IN

MEETING ROOMMATE

David moves in a few days earlier than Blake. Blake does not
know at first that David is faking the accent.

FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL

BLAKE FINDS OUT DAVID IS BRITISH

accent. Then David reveal's the truth. Lead to montage of how

he picked his lifestyle.

INT. DAVID'S BEDROOM - BECOMING BRITISH MONTAGE

Trying different accents (country boy, deep south, different

european countries). Training accent. Trying on british
tracksuit. David talks to himself as he looks in the mirror.

DAVID
What the fuck? Who the hell would wear
this.

Narrator: Oh but you'd be surprised the amount of people who

wear those tracksuits our age across the pond.

DAVID AND BLAKE GETTING ALONG

MEETING PEOPLE IN THE DORM

GOING TO A PARTY

RUSHING FRATERNITIES

Montage. David plays dumb and has people explain to him greek
life and fraternities. Rush events, open houses, invite
onlys, dinners, drinks, smoking weed (David's first time
smoking weed.) Getting bided.

MORNING AFTER PARTY

Jaucy and David connect. Spend the morning together. Get to

know each other. We see them do things together throughout
the day as they get closer and closer.

FORMAL

In Toronto, David goes a to a strip club with his frat

16.

brothers. After casino/clubbing, their dates are asleep, they

all sneak out. Go to the strip club. They do the normal strip
club stuff. Then David double takes and sees a girl he
recognizes. She was the hot, daddy issues girl from high
school that got tossed around. He always wanted to be with
her. Cut to flashbacks of her in high school and him being a
loser. They make eye contact. She stops her dance. Finishes
her performance. She walks over to him. Starts reintroducing
herself to David and being friendly cause she remembers him.
David is surrounded by his friends. He is trying to get her
away or just talk to her in private so that he doesn't blow
his cover before she mentions they went to high school
together. He gets her away by paying for a private dance.
They talk, end up hooking up while his girlfriend is back at
the hotel.

MAYBE MORE PARTYING - MAYBE IT'S GETTING OUT OF HAND- LIKE

EVERYTHING

While everything in life catches up to David. Classes,

friends, losing touch with Blake and their dorm friends,
having to have a girlfriend now. Hiding the truth from his
girlfriend, pledging. Just everything that comes with
college, David begins to get overwhelmed. A build up leading
to a disaster.

INT. FRAT HOUSE - NIGHT - TAKING ACID HAZING

Lineup, right before a party. A gift is given to all of the

pledges. A treat. LSD. The floor boards are opened and the
treat is consumed. The boys have never experienced something
like this before. Panic from all of them. The first signs of
regret from David. A warrior, an animal, a character that has
thought all of this pledging was stupid and fun, now is
terrified. This is the moment David realizes that he's losing
himself. That he's gone too far.

Dialogue for during the lineup.

FRAT BROTHER 3
What Davo? You scared? You were more
than happy to ski (do lines) with us.
What changed? I thought you could do
anything? I thought you were a tank?
You scared now?

The boys are all freaking out as the party goes on above
them. The loud thundering footsteps and bass bumping. Sound
mixer will mix the bumping of the crowd into the claps at the

Created using Celtx

17.

beginning of the song "Tonight May Have to Last Me All My

Life" by The Avalanches. The boys panic. We can hear yells
from a bunch of them. David breathes heavily. He runs through
his mind his regrets. He thinks about who he once was and how
he misses that now. Then, the panic goes away, as nostalgia
and happy memories take over his mind. "Saturday Inside Out"
by The Avalanche plays (try to get instrumental version).
Flashbacks begin to pop up. Memories of David in high school.
His small group of friends, them at the courts playing
basketball, driving around town, singing, watching horror
movies and laughing at the TV, getting ice cream. Eating food
and enjoying life at their favorite spot. The time when he
didn't worry about girls, being popular, being desireable, he
was himself and he loved those moments. This moment makes him
realize that he misses that, that he wishes this big
lifestyle went away. All of these fake guys and people he is
fake to so that he can fit in, he wishes they all went away.
He wants to go back to high school and redo it. He misses it.
He wants that redo.

DAVID
I wanna go back (breathing heavily and
speaking to himself). I wanna go back
(as he speaks louder and louder
repeating to himself). I wanna go
back! I wanna go back! I wanna get
out! I wanna get out!

David yells out in his natural American accent. No one

notices, they all think they're tripping.

DAVID
I wanna go back! I'm sorry! I lied!
Let me out! Let me out!

The rest of the group is also panicking or laughing. They

think David is just tripping and that the American accent he
has is fake. David eases himself and realizes that he can't
go back. It would ruin everything. He tries to count his
breaths and calm himself down. He does so and just closes his
eyes. Everything calms down. He falls asleep and is woken up
and pulled out from under the floorboards.

DAVID QUESTIONS HIS CHOICES AND REGRETS HIS ACTIONS

David questions what he's done and joining the frat and
everything that comes with it. He is scarred by the
experience from the night before. Everyone is. He is really
questioning everything that has happened to him this semester
at school. He questions if his relationship is even real, if
his friends are real, he's having an existential crisis.

Created using Celtx

18.

"Keep on Lying" by Tame Impala plays as a montage shows David

going through his day to day life of school. Waking up
(normally with his girlfriend in his arms in his small dorm
room bed), getting ready, going to class, walking through
campus, doing his studies, going to the library, getting
lunch with his girlfriend or frat friends, hanging out with
people, laughing, living, faking it, putting on a face, being
not himself, you can see the signs of him questioning
everything in the back of his mind. His face shows concern,
it shows deep thinking. Hanging out with blake, going to
dining hall with girlfriend, going out on dates with
girlfriend, getting ice cream with friends, walking late
night in the quad, frat party, darty, drinking, beer games,
frat life, living, laughing, faking it, dancing with his
girlfriend on the dance floor, moshing with his friends,

DAVID AND ALYSSA ON A DATE OR IN BED TOGETHER

Alyssa says she loves him. David has never been loved like
that before. He's never had a girlfriend, he's never been in
love. He was just about to confess that this isn't the real
him but now he fears that he can't. He fears that she
wouldn't love the real him, she only loves his character.
While everything is going crazy, at least now there's
something great. Something finally calm and slowed down. He
has regrets and stresses about the truth, but in that moment,
everything's great. He's in love and he's willing to keep
this going to stay in love. But just as he find's love and as
everything seems great, all plans fail, and shit will
eventually hit the fan. Love can fade and end quickly.

EXT. FRAT FIGHT

David is a sweet, quiet, and not violent kid. David gets

knocked unconcious and an ambulance is called.

INT. HOSPITAL

His friends find out that he is not British and that he is

from America. They find out his address, his real voice, and
all of his lies are revealed. His parents come and finally
speak with him.

INT. COLLEGE DORM ROOM - NIGHT

DAVID
I can't believe I did this. What the
fuck is wrong with me?

BLAKE
So what? You tried something; a little

Created using Celtx

19.

experiment. It doesn't really matter.

DAVID
What?! Yes it does!

BLAKE
Why? How did they react?

David looks over to Blake in embarrasment.

BLAKE
Was it that bad?

DAVID
They were all just like confused. So
confused. Weirded out - I don't even
know. They all just sat there and
looked at me funny. Like I tried to
make a joke, but it missed, and now
everything is awkard. That type of
reaction. You know what I mean?

BLAKE
Yeah I get it.

DAVID
They didn't know how to respond. They
looked at me like I was crazy. They
all think I'm crazy.

BLAKE
And Alyssa?

DAVID
She responded even worse.

BLAKE
Oh. Jeez. How much worse?

DAVID
Way worse. She was pissed. Like she
was disturbed. She called me psychotic
and sociopathic, and insane;
Clinically insane. She said that I was
a pathological liar. That there was
something wrong with me. That I
embarassed her to all of her friends.
She said that I was embarrasing.

BLAKE
Ok. She was cruel. That's not fair to

Created using Celtx

20.

you.

DAVID
Well how you respond if your
girlfriend all of sudden switches up
her voice and tells you that she leid
about where she was from, what she
sounded like, who her family was, and
who she was?

BLAKE
I get it. I understand.

A quick pause between the two of them. David rapidly

breathes. It's heavy. He was already panicking, but the
thoughts are flowing in his head. We can see that he has
regrets. That he knows he fucked up.

Blake stares at him. Tries to figure out what to do and what

to say. He is processing all this as well.

BLAKE
So what does this mean for you and
Alyssa?

That question stings David. He takes a moment.

DAVID
We're on a break. But she's just
preparing to break up with me. I know
she's trying to figure out how to tell
me it's over. I don't blame her.

BLAKE
Dude. This really fucked everything
up.

DAVID
Yeah it did. I mean it fucked
EVERYTHING up. But I was getting sick
of it.

BLAKE
Why?

DAVID
That was starting to become me. But I
didn't like it. I mean obviously
having a fake accent is a pain in the
ass to keep especially when my parents
would randomly call and I'd have to

Created using Celtx

21.

run and find a place where no one can

hear me. But it wasn't even the voice
or all the little details and lies
that I had to remember. It was that
fact that it wasn't me. That I wasn't
me. I had completely change myself. I
tried to errase every piece of my true
self so I could be popular, so that
people at this school thought I was
cool, so that I could get girls, and
feel good about myself. And shit it
worked. I fucking did that. I mean
fuck, I joined the top frat and all
they guys love me there, every girl
was fascinated by me; they all wanted
to talk with me. I could literally get
whoever I wanted. Not even a year ago,
all my friends would make fun of me
cause I was a virgin. But now, I've
fucked more girls than any of them.
Even after all these things that are
supposed to be amazing, that everyone
wants... I feel empty. That person
that I thoguht wasn't good enough in
high school, that I thought could
never be enough in college, still
feels worthless even after all this
change. I still feel like there's
something missing, like I haven't
gotten it all. And then I realized
that I'm never going to be enough. And
this character that I created coulnd't
ever fix that problem. But now I now.
I know that I shouldn't have cared
about any of that bullshit. I
shouldn't have cared about filling
that hole or trying to find that small
piece of me that would finally make me
enough. I realized that I'm never
gonna be enough and if I'm never gonna
be enough... I might as well just be
me. Cause I guess that's enough for
this world and for the people that
love and care about me.

BLAKE
So what now? How are you gonna come
back from this?

DAVID
I transfer probably.

Created using Celtx

22.

BLAKE
Wait. Don't do that. Why?

DAVID
I'm a different person at this school.
This isn't the right place for me.
This isn't my place. I wasn't really
liking it anyway Blake. Like
everything with me, I felt so
superficial, I felt like I needed to
change to fit in here.

BLAKE
But I don't want you to go.

DAVID
I think you do.

BLAKE
What? That's not true.

DAVID
I think I want you to let me go.

BLAKE
But we're friends. I care about you.
You're funny, you're entertaining. I
don't want this friendship to end.

DAVID
Blake. C'mon. We literally only ever
talk about the character I was. You
never cared about me. You cared about
all the stories I told or could tell
because of the fake person that I was.
You weren't friends with me, you were
friends with the other version of me.
I think it's time for me to move on. I
need a fresh start, a real new start.

BLAKE
I'm always here for you.

DAVID
I know. And I'll keep in touch. But
this is the beginning of the end for
my time at this school.

BLAKE
I was never an issue right?

DAVID
Of course not. I was the issue. I
thought you wouldn't like me without
this.

BLAKE
That's not true. I swear. I mean hey
it was pretty great for a bit wasn't
it?

DAVID
It was incredible. Every moment. But
it wasn't me.

The two sit and look at each other. Reflecting on the year
they've had together. That things won't ever be the way they
were. That this is the first real moment they've had
together. That this is the first time David showed his truest
self and Blake accepted it. This moment lets David realize
that it was completely unnecessary what he did. That he
would've easily been accepted for who he was if he was just
himself. That look of realization rests on his face as the
camera fades.

EXT. MONTAGE

"On the Sea" by Beach House plays.

2 options for our ending:

1. David transfers. Goobye to the frat life, the girls, the

drugs, the parties, the superficial life that wasn't his.
Goodbye to the place that the character lived, not David.
Goodbye to Blake. A great friend and partner throughout the
year. Will their friendship last now that the two will be in
separate places? One would hope. Blake goes on back to his
friends in the dorm and lives on without the wildness of
David. A few texts and calls may keep them connected for
their lifetime. Alyssa and David have their breakup
conversation and while it pains David and Alyssa, she doesn't
know the real him and is bothered by the fact that he lied
all this time. David never knew what love was, what being
held and holding someone like that felt like. But the
conversation was peacful and the breakup happens. David tries
to avoid the frat and will just give a nod to whoever he sees
walking around campus. They'll come up to him and check on
him and how he's doing, but they all still show that confused
and weirded look. David goes home and his parents are waiting
there to hug him. They finally get to talk with their son and
figure out what he's been up to. What he's been going
through. He confesses that he has been dealing with a lot and

tells them all the stories of the past semester. His mom
threatens to go to someone about the hazing, but he begs her
to not. He says that he did this to himself and that he had
the choice to be himself and to not follow all that bullshit
but he chose wrong. David looks for new places to go to
school and a new person to be. The fire pit in his backyard
is the perfect place to burn the posters and other bs that he
got for his dorm room. We see flashbacks of him putting up
the posters on the first day of school and now him burning
them up. David starts to pack and go through his old clothes.
He has found a new school, a new start, a new place to be
him. Just him, nothing else. Posters from his bedroom from
home get put up and his dorm room is his, not the characters.
this campus is his, this school is now his. David can be
himself. He just needed not to be himself to learn he should.

2. Acceptance

David's fraternity and girlfriend learn about the real him.

The house, while weirded out, learns to accept him and he
goes on being himself now and is accepted for that. Its a
different pace for David now, for everyone now. He's not the
same anymore. He's improved, quieter, calmer, kinder, focused
on better things. David and Alyssa speak. Alyssa wants to
hate him. She wants to end things. David wants her to as
well. He feels bad, he feels that he doesn't deserve her and
that she didn't deserve him lying to her and her being
decieved. She asks who is the real David and he sits and
tells her. She learns to love that David. David calls his
parents, or maybe they come and visit, they hug him, embrace
him. They've missed him and have been worried about him. But
he shows them he's ok now. He introduces all of his friends,
and his girlfriend. Life on this campus is different now. Its
a new start for him, a fresh start. Same place, but different
person. Himself. That's all he needed to be, himself. He
would've been accepted hindsight. But hindsight is 20/20.

EXT. SCHOOL QUAD

Alyssa is avoiding David and he just wants her to end things.

Ghosting him is all she is trying to do but he won't allow
this relationship to fade away without actual closure. Either
he runs into her on the quad and while she tries to shun him
out and not listen to him, he begs her to wait a second and
give him a chance to speak. OR David gets into her dorm and
knocks on her door. Alyssa doesn't want to answer the door
but she can't hide from him forever.

DAVID
Can we just end things?

The two just stand there. Alyssa is in shock. She expected

David to come to her crying for her back; she hoped for it.
But David knows their fate, or believes he knows what is
inevitable.

DAVID
I know you want to end things.

Still silence.

DAVID
What?

A quick pause.

DAVID
Are you going to say something?

Alyssa holds her ground. She is visibly hurt and angry with
him. She also clearly did not like the way David started the
conversation.

ALYSSA
What do you want me to say? W...What
can I say? You clearly want to end
things, you're clearly frustrated with
this. And I thought I had the right to
be upset that my boyfriend is a
pathological liar.

DAVID
I didn't mean to come off frustrated.
But, this is what I mean when I say
can we just end things. You've been
avoiding me for a few days now. My
life used to be filled with you.
Texts, calls, snaps, study sessions,
nights together, and now just a few
days without you has felt like a year.
But I know you're angry. I know you're
also just weirded out by this. And I
know that you can't socially have this
for yourself. For people to find out I
lied, for you to be in.... in-

ALYSSA
In what?

DAVID
For you to be with a fake person. I
know you've been avoiding me because

you want to avoid this converation.

But it has to happen. I can't not have
it happen.

ALYSSA
Yet again, what do you want me to say?

DAVID
I think you know what you want to say.

ALYSSA
I just... I was afraid...I..... who
are you? Like who is the real you? Is
your name even David (insert last
name)?

DAVID
Yes.

ALYSSA
And where are you actually from?

David takes a deep breath.

DAVID
(Insert town in the United States of
America)

ALYSSA
You gotta be fucking kidding me. How
could I fall for this? How stupid am
I?

DAVID
Everyone fell for it. You're not
stupid. If there's anyone that's
actually stupid its the person who
changed his entire identity and voice
just to fit in.

ALYSSA
That's sad.

DAVID
That's cruel... but fair.

ALYSSA
I didn't mean it like that. I just
meant that it's a sad thing that you
feel you have to do all that just to
fit in. You're a great guy David if

you just give yourself the chance to

be you.

DAVID
You know you were the best thing that
ever happened to me?

ALYSSA
Was?

DAVID
C'mon Alyssa. I know what the reality
is.

David hints to Alyssa that it's time to say it already.

ALYSSA
I just... I can't say it's over. But I
want it to be over.

David finally hears what he was expecting but it still hurts.

ALYSSA
I can't be with someone who still
doesn't know themself, who doesn't
have the confidence to know and be
proud of who they are.

The two stand there for a moment.

ALYSSA
That's all I planned. All I kept
repeating to myself while I tried to
muster up the courage to finally say
what I wanted to say.

DAVID
I understand. I expected it. And I
want to say thank you for not being so
mad and making it...I don't know.

ALYSSA
Oh I'm still mad. But I'll get over it
and hopefully over this all.

David still hurt.

DAVID
Fair. I think I'm going to go now.

28.

ALYSSA
I think that'd be best.

David starts to turn away from the door. Then he stops

himself for a moment.

DAVID
Hey Alyssa.

ALYSSA
Yeah?

DAVID
Do you think if we met again at a
different school, in a different
place, that never knew us as together,
could we be able to start again?

David navigates his way through a new school, in a new

location. He's moved on from his time at the previous school.
He's living in a new dorm, he's taking classes in completely
different buildings, and he is walking through halls.

DAVID (CONT.)
Forget all the memories we made
together and begin our relationship
anew. Zero reminders of this place or
us before. A fresh start. I'm just a
fresh face to you and you to me.

David sees a face. A hint of deja vu hits his eyes. Its

Alyssa but the two don't know each other. This is when they
meet again. This is their fresh start.

DAVID (CONT.)
I'm David (insert last name) from
(insert town). The real David. Would
we be able to start this again? Would
we find each other. Would see me the
same way you saw me not so long
ago?Would I go after someone as
beautiful and amazing as you? I guess
just would we be together again?

ALYSSA
I don't know David. Maybe.

DAVID
Hopefully?

ALYSSA
I guess we'll never know.

David nods and walks away from the room as Alyssa takes a
deep breath and looks into the empy hallway. She then closese
the door and begins to look sad. Scene fades.
