DOUGIE
Yo! Brumny! Where you going?!
BRUMNY
Yo! Dougie whats up?! We're hittin'
Cues. You wanna come?
DOUGIE
Can't, gotta clean tonight.
BRUMNY
Shit that's right.
DOUGIE
Hey have you seen David?
BRUMNY
Nah why?
DOUGIE
Just wondering.
BRUMNY
Last time I saw him he was talking
with Jaucy. Sex maniac prolly left
with her already.
DOUGIE
That fucker's faded cleanup the past 2
weekends. It's ridiculous.
BRUMNY
I don't even wanna know the stds that
kids got.
PLEDGE 1
Yo Brumny you coming?!
BRUMNY
Oh shit my b, I'm coming!
BRUMNY
Peace out Doug.
DOUGIE
Fuckin David.
JAUCY
Can you turn your phone off.
DAVID
Yeah sorry gimme a sec.
DAVID
Fuckin Dougie. Probably gonna yell at
me about some pledge bullshit.
JAUCY
Whatever.
JAUCY
Will you just turn your phone off.
DAVID
Alright sorry.
DOUGIE
Fuck. Fuck me. Fucking David.
PLEDGE 1
You good?
DOUGIE
No. I'm sick of the brit fading us.
PLEDGE 1
Oh you saw him walk away with Jaucy.
DOUGIE
It's ridiculous. Another night he
hasn't cleaned.
PLEDGE 1
What is that like a month straight?
DOUGIE
Yeah. He's gonna get me rinsed again.
PLEDGE 1
I can call him.
DOUGIE
Tried that.
PLEDGE 1
Fuck dude. I guess another night
without David.
DOUGIE
Nah fuck this. I'm going to get him.
Dougie begins to walk past Pledge 1 and head onto the front
lawn of the frat house.
PLEDGE 1
You're out of your mind. What's the
point of going now.
DOUGIE
Prove a point. His brit ass can't just
fade everything and enjoy himself
while we get tortured.
BLAKE
Yo!
BLAKE
YO! Dougie!
BLAKE
The fuck are you doing? Why are you
running too?
DOUGIE
I'm coming to get David.
BLAKE
Oh some frat pleding shit?
DOUGIE
No. And wait, yeah no why did I run
here. I'm tired as fuck.
BLAKE
That's a steep run.
DOUGIE
Yeah. I gotta get David.
BLAKE
I wouldn't go in there.
DOUGIE
Just unlock the door.
BLAKE
You know what's going on in there
right?
DOUGIE
I don't give a shit. I need David.
He'll thank me and you later. We gotta
get back to the house.
BLAKE
Fine. Your funeral... and maybe...
traumatzing experience.
Blake hands Dougie the key. The door opens. David and Jaucy
are very much so in the middle of something and freak. Jaucy
shrills. Opening credits.
DAVID
What the fuck!
They throw the covers over each other. David yells from under
the covers.
DAVID
Blake I gave you the heads up!
BLAKE
Ain't me D.
DAVID
Huh?
DOUGIE
Let's go David. I'm sick of your shit.
DAVID
Doug? What the fuck are you doing
here? And Blake why would you let this
wanker into the room?!
BLAKE
I don't know! He told me it was
something urgent. I told him he was
making a mistake.
DAVID
So then don't give him the fucking
key!
BLAKE
You know he was moving fast and like
breathing heavy, and I wanted him out
of my face so I just gave it to him.
Plus I'm tryna sleep homie.
DOUGIE
Ok. Get up. Come clean and then you
can come back.
DAVID
You know I'm not doing that.
DOUGIE
I don't give a shit. Get up.
DAVID
Fuck that you see I'm busy at the
moment.
DOUGIE
The whole PC is done picking up your
slack.
DAVID
Chill out. It's not that deep.
DOUGIE
Just get up and help. You can come
back. Jaucy will still be here.
JAUCY
Actually, I think I'm gonna go home.
DAVID
Wait, wait, wait. No stay. I'll be
like 15 minutes. Max. I promise. Set a
timer.
Jaucy rolls her eyes and shows on her face that she's
thinking about leaving.
DAVID
C'mon. Please stay. I promise I'll be
quick.
DOUGIE
Woah!
DAVID
What?
DAVID
Be right back love.
to his ear (a volume above whisper but quiet enough for Jaucy
not to hear).
DAVID
You cock blocking cunt. You owe me.
DAVID
Oy! Start the timer!
DOUGIE
Oh fuck you!
DAVID
I totally could get a drink-driving
(DUI in british GOOGLE THIS) for this.
BLAKE
Soooooo.....ummmm... I'm Blake by the
way.
JAUCY
Sarah.
BLAKE
Nice to meet you Sarah.
JAUCY
Nice to meet you too Blake.
Quick cuts back and forth between David arriving to the frat
house, Dougie chasing after him, David getting into the house
and cleaning up with everyone. All of the other pledges look
over at David and make snarky comments about him and who he
was with. David chirps Dougie for cock blocking him. More
fast cuts of cans and bottles being picked up, risers being
carried throughout the house, and Blake and Jaucy still
sitting awkwardly in the room.
JAUCY
I like the poster.
BLAKE
Oh. Thanks.
JAUCY
Hey where's? The bathroom?
BLAKE
Oh I gotchu.
Blake shows Jaucy to the bathroom and unlocks the door for
her.
BLAKE
I'll just leave the dorm room door
open for you when you're done.
JAUCY
Aw. Thanks so much. It was nice
meeting you.
BLAKE
It was nice meeting you too.
DAVID
Cunt. We good?
DOUGIE
Yeah you're good.
DAVID
Sweet. Peace
BLAKE
She's definely passed out now.
DAVID
Fuck.
David runs back to the room. Realizes he left his key in the
room. Bangs on the door but there's no response, signaling
that Jaucy is asleep. David runs back to Blake.
BLAKE
Locked yourself out?
DAVID
Shut up wanker just unlock the door
for me.
GROUP
Oy! Wanker!
DAVID
HaHa! What's up lads?!
Blake walks David back to the room and unlocks the door.
BLAKE
Night brotha.
DAVID
I appreciate it. Night.
The two dap up and David walks back in the room. The intense
montage music settles as David sees Jaucy deep asleep in his
bed. It's quiet now; David is alone in his room with his own
thoughts as Jaucy sleeps in his bed.
DAVID
Dammit. Blue balls.
MOM
Soooooo.... David.... are you excited?
She tries to nudge David with her words and get a response
out of him. David looks over with negative enthusiasm.
DAVID
Yeah. Sure.
DAD
Yeah? Sure? That's all you have? Dave
you're about to embark on the greatest
four years of your life. C'mon bud
there's got to be more than just a two
word response.
DAVID
I dunno. I'm excited it's just weird.
Kinda crazy. I'm going to college.
MOM
I know. It's pretty crazy. But you're
not worried right? There's nothing to
worry about.
DAVID
No. Not worried at all. It's just a
lot.
MOM
You're father and I are always a phone
call or text away whenever you need.
Mom looks over and makes a face at Dad to make sure that he
confirms her previous statement.
DAD
Yeah... we're always here.
Dad looks over to Mom to make sure that he said the right
thing and Mom confirms it.
DAD
But... who needs your parents when
you're at college right? You're going
to make all these great new friends,
maybe find yourself a girlfriend.
Dad makes a face to David and kind of nudges him with the
ending of his last words. David is bothered by that.
MOM
Mark.
DAD
What? I'm just saying.
DAD
Look. I... I was just... your mother
and I met at school... and and it was
the greatest four years of our lives.
So great, that we wanted to spend the
rest of our lives together and have
you.
MOM
Honey.
MOM
David. I think your father is getting
a little ahead of himself. But just
because we met at school does not mean
that you have to, or should, find your
person there. That stuff just happens
naturally. Don't force it. And enjoy
yourself too.
DAD
Yeah dude. Have some fun. No parents,
no rules-
MOM
Not true.
DAD
Mom and I aren't there. You're your
own man now. Enjoy that. Let lose.
Find some girls or... whatever.
MOM
But be safe.
DAD
Yes. Of course. Be safe.
MOM
Do we need to get you condoms?
DAVID
Mom.
MOM
That's something parents do now right?
DAD
I dunno. I guess so. I bought them
myself at school.... but sure.
DAVID
Stop. Enough.
It's right after dinner and David is now in his room looking
around one last time. You can hear his parents laughing and
speaking in the far distance on the other side of the house.
David puts on a Youtube video and practices his accent.
David's messages pop up on his screen. (Either messages or
David gets a facetime call from his group chat. Everyone
enters the call)
"Easily" - Colin
"Night"
"Goodnight"
"Peace"
"Fuck y'all"
The phone hangs up. Davo is alone with his thoughts and
worries. He turns of his phone, lays there, and thinks. Davo
then eventually takes a breath and closes his eyes.
GOING TO COLLEGE
MOVING IN
MEETING ROOMMATE
David moves in a few days earlier than Blake. Blake does not
know at first that David is faking the accent.
DAVID
What the fuck? Who the hell would wear
this.
GOING TO A PARTY
RUSHING FRATERNITIES
Montage. David plays dumb and has people explain to him greek
life and fraternities. Rush events, open houses, invite
onlys, dinners, drinks, smoking weed (David's first time
smoking weed.) Getting bided.

FRAT BROTHER 3
What Davo? You scared? You were more
than happy to ski (do lines) with us.
What changed? I thought you could do
anything? I thought you were a tank?
You scared now?
The boys are all freaking out as the party goes on above
them. The loud thundering footsteps and bass bumping. Sound
mixer will mix the bumping of the crowd into the claps at the
DAVID
I wanna go back (breathing heavily and
speaking to himself). I wanna go back
(as he speaks louder and louder
repeating to himself). I wanna go
back! I wanna go back! I wanna get
out! I wanna get out!
DAVID
I wanna go back! I'm sorry! I lied!
Let me out! Let me out!
David questions what he's done and joining the frat and
everything that comes with it. He is scarred by the
experience from the night before. Everyone is. He is really
questioning everything that has happened to him this semester
at school. He questions if his relationship is even real, if
his friends are real, he's having an existential crisis.
Alyssa says she loves him. David has never been loved like
that before. He's never had a girlfriend, he's never been in
love. He was just about to confess that this isn't the real
him but now he fears that he can't. He fears that she
wouldn't love the real him, she only loves his character.
While everything is going crazy, at least now there's
something great. Something finally calm and slowed down. He
has regrets and stresses about the truth, but in that moment,
everything's great. He's in love and he's willing to keep
this going to stay in love. But just as he find's love and as
everything seems great, all plans fail, and shit will
eventually hit the fan. Love can fade and end quickly.
INT. HOSPITAL
DAVID
I can't believe I did this. What the
fuck is wrong with me?
BLAKE
So what? You tried something; a little
DAVID
What?! Yes it does!
BLAKE
Why? How did they react?
BLAKE
Was it that bad?
DAVID
They were all just like confused. So
confused. Weirded out - I don't even
know. They all just sat there and
looked at me funny. Like I tried to
make a joke, but it missed, and now
everything is awkard. That type of
reaction. You know what I mean?
BLAKE
Yeah I get it.
DAVID
They didn't know how to respond. They
looked at me like I was crazy. They
all think I'm crazy.
BLAKE
And Alyssa?
DAVID
She responded even worse.
BLAKE
Oh. Jeez. How much worse?
DAVID
Way worse. She was pissed. Like she
was disturbed. She called me psychotic
and sociopathic, and insane;
Clinically insane. She said that I was
a pathological liar. That there was
something wrong with me. That I
embarassed her to all of her friends.
She said that I was embarrasing.
BLAKE
Ok. She was cruel. That's not fair to
you.
DAVID
Well how you respond if your
girlfriend all of sudden switches up
her voice and tells you that she leid
about where she was from, what she
sounded like, who her family was, and
who she was?
BLAKE
I get it. I understand.
BLAKE
So what does this mean for you and
Alyssa?
DAVID
We're on a break. But she's just
preparing to break up with me. I know
she's trying to figure out how to tell
me it's over. I don't blame her.
BLAKE
Dude. This really fucked everything
up.
DAVID
Yeah it did. I mean it fucked
EVERYTHING up. But I was getting sick
of it.
BLAKE
Why?
DAVID
That was starting to become me. But I
didn't like it. I mean obviously
having a fake accent is a pain in the
ass to keep especially when my parents
would randomly call and I'd have to
BLAKE
So what now? How are you gonna come
back from this?
DAVID
I transfer probably.
BLAKE
Wait. Don't do that. Why?
DAVID
I'm a different person at this school.
This isn't the right place for me.
This isn't my place. I wasn't really
liking it anyway Blake. Like
everything with me, I felt so
superficial, I felt like I needed to
change to fit in here.
BLAKE
But I don't want you to go.
DAVID
I think you do.
BLAKE
What? That's not true.
DAVID
I think I want you to let me go.
BLAKE
But we're friends. I care about you.
You're funny, you're entertaining. I
don't want this friendship to end.
DAVID
Blake. C'mon. We literally only ever
talk about the character I was. You
never cared about me. You cared about
all the stories I told or could tell
because of the fake person that I was.
You weren't friends with me, you were
friends with the other version of me.
I think it's time for me to move on. I
need a fresh start, a real new start.
BLAKE
I'm always here for you.
DAVID
I know. And I'll keep in touch. But
this is the beginning of the end for
my time at this school.
BLAKE
I was never an issue right?
DAVID
Of course not. I was the issue. I
thought you wouldn't like me without
this.
BLAKE
That's not true. I swear. I mean hey
it was pretty great for a bit wasn't
it?
DAVID
It was incredible. Every moment. But
it wasn't me.
The two sit and look at each other. Reflecting on the year
they've had together. That things won't ever be the way they
were. That this is the first real moment they've had
together. That this is the first time David showed his truest
self and Blake accepted it. This moment lets David realize
that it was completely unnecessary what he did. That he
would've easily been accepted for who he was if he was just
himself. That look of realization rests on his face as the
camera fades.
EXT. MONTAGE
tells them all the stories of the past semester. His mom
threatens to go to someone about the hazing, but he begs her
to not. He says that he did this to himself and that he had
the choice to be himself and to not follow all that bullshit
but he chose wrong. David looks for new places to go to
school and a new person to be. The fire pit in his backyard
is the perfect place to burn the posters and other bs that he
got for his dorm room. We see flashbacks of him putting up
the posters on the first day of school and now him burning
them up. David starts to pack and go through his old clothes.
He has found a new school, a new start, a new place to be
him. Just him, nothing else. Posters from his bedroom from
home get put up and his dorm room is his, not the characters.
this campus is his, this school is now his. David can be
himself. He just needed not to be himself to learn he should.
2. Acceptance
DAVID
Can we just end things?
DAVID
I know you want to end things.
Still silence.
DAVID
What?
A quick pause.
DAVID
Are you going to say something?
Alyssa holds her ground. She is visibly hurt and angry with
him. She also clearly did not like the way David started the
conversation.
ALYSSA
What do you want me to say? W...What
can I say? You clearly want to end
things, you're clearly frustrated with
this. And I thought I had the right to
be upset that my boyfriend is a
pathological liar.
DAVID
I didn't mean to come off frustrated.
But, this is what I mean when I say
can we just end things. You've been
avoiding me for a few days now. My
life used to be filled with you.
Texts, calls, snaps, study sessions,
nights together, and now just a few
days without you has felt like a year.
But I know you're angry. I know you're
also just weirded out by this. And I
know that you can't socially have this
for yourself. For people to find out I
lied, for you to be in.... in-
ALYSSA
In what?
DAVID
For you to be with a fake person. I
know you've been avoiding me because
ALYSSA
Yet again, what do you want me to say?
DAVID
I think you know what you want to say.
ALYSSA
I just... I was afraid...I..... who
are you? Like who is the real you? Is
your name even David (insert last
name)?
DAVID
Yes.
ALYSSA
And where are you actually from?
DAVID
(Insert town in the United States of
America)
ALYSSA
You gotta be fucking kidding me. How
could I fall for this? How stupid am
I?
DAVID
Everyone fell for it. You're not
stupid. If there's anyone that's
actually stupid its the person who
changed his entire identity and voice
just to fit in.
ALYSSA
That's sad.
DAVID
That's cruel... but fair.
ALYSSA
I didn't mean it like that. I just
meant that it's a sad thing that you
feel you have to do all that just to
fit in. You're a great guy David if
DAVID
You know you were the best thing that
ever happened to me?
ALYSSA
Was?
DAVID
C'mon Alyssa. I know what the reality
is.
ALYSSA
I just... I can't say it's over. But I
want it to be over.
ALYSSA
I can't be with someone who still
doesn't know themself, who doesn't
have the confidence to know and be
proud of who they are.
ALYSSA
That's all I planned. All I kept
repeating to myself while I tried to
muster up the courage to finally say
what I wanted to say.
DAVID
I understand. I expected it. And I
want to say thank you for not being so
mad and making it...I don't know.
ALYSSA
Oh I'm still mad. But I'll get over it
and hopefully over this all.
DAVID
Fair. I think I'm going to go now.
ALYSSA
I think that'd be best.
DAVID
Hey Alyssa.
ALYSSA
Yeah?
DAVID
Do you think if we met again at a
different school, in a different
place, that never knew us as together,
could we be able to start again?
DAVID (CONT.)
Forget all the memories we made
together and begin our relationship
anew. Zero reminders of this place or
us before. A fresh start. I'm just a
fresh face to you and you to me.
DAVID (CONT.)
I'm David (insert last name) from
(insert town). The real David. Would
we be able to start this again? Would
we find each other. Would see me the
same way you saw me not so long
ago?Would I go after someone as
beautiful and amazing as you? I guess
just would we be together again?
ALYSSA
I don't know David. Maybe.
DAVID
Hopefully?
ALYSSA
I guess we'll never know.
David nods and walks away from the room as Alyssa takes a
deep breath and looks into the empy hallway. She then closese
the door and begins to look sad. Scene fades.
