CLEAN UP DRIVE PROGRAM

REFLECTION
On March 18, 2023, Our section BSN 2A conducted a clean-up
drive program at Barangay Opao, Mandaue City, Cebu with the aim
of cleaning up the community's streets and waterways, which had
been littered with trash and other debris.

During the program, me and my classmates spent a few hours

collecting trash and other debris from the street and waterways. At
first, the task seemed very daunting, but as we all worked together, I
realized that with our small gestures, we can make a small but also
a significant difference in the community. As I collected trash, I
couldn't help but think about how much waste people produce
especially on a daily basis. I realized that it is crucial to educate and
advocate to the community about the importance of waste disposal
and waste management through proper recycling.
The community and environment is an
interconnected system that affects one
another. As a nursing student, keeping the
environment clean is part of my responsibility
and advocacy as it has a direct impact on
the health and well-being of the community.
It is part of my role as a future nurse to start
from the root cause or biggest influence of
the development of the illness and health
problems which is the environment. While
doing the program, I realized that people
need a spark to light up ideas and resolve to
start making changes for the better.

Lastly, participating in the clean-up

drive program was a valuable experience
that taught me about the importance of
keeping the environment clean and the
impact it has on the community. I learned
that even the smallest action could have a
significant impact and I also felt proud to be
apart of a impactful program.
