MODIFY AND CONSTRUCT COMMANDS

II. LESSON TITLE

1. Command to duplicate
2. Command to clean corners
3. Command to resize an object
4. Command to modify object orientation
5. Creating 2D templates

III. LESSON OVERVIEW

AutoCAD drawings are rarely completed simply by drawing lines, circles, etc. Most likely you
will need to modify these basic drawing objects in some way to create the image you need.
AutoCAD provides a whole range of MODIFY tools such as Move, Copy, Rotate, Mirror, Erase,
Trim, etc. As you can see, the command names are easily understood. However, the way these
commands work is not obvious. This manual is designed to show you how all of the Modify
commands work.

IV. DESIRED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. modify and construct 2D drawing in AutoCAD;

2. apply the steps of AutoCAD commands.

V. LESSON CONTENT

MODIFY COMMANDS

As is usual with AutoCAD, the MODIFY tools can be accessed in one of three ways: from
the keyboard, from the pull-down menu, and the toolbar. The method you choose is entirely up to
you. Ultimately you will use the method that you feel most comfortable with or the one you find most
efficient. AutoCAD allows great flexibility and there aren’t any right or wrong ways of working.

The most common of these tools are located on the MODIFY panel of the Home tab. Take a
minute to look through them.
