METHODOLOGY
HOW AM I GOING TO TEACH?
1. Introduction (5 minutes):
RESOURCES
WHAT AM IGOING TO USE?
o Components to build simple circuits (cell, switch, light bulb, insulated copper wires)
o Whiteboard and markers
LEARNERS
Differentiation:
- Provide additional support for struggling students by working with them in a small group or individually.
- Offer challenge opportunities for advanced students by encouraging them to explore more diagrams.
Learners are encouraged to ask questions whenever they need clarification or if they want a concept to
be repeated. In the case of learners with poor eyesight, they will be advised to sit in the front for better
visibility.
To show how an electric circuit should be connected, we draw circuit diagrams with symbols that show each
component. This is a simple way to represent the electric circuit. This table shows the symbol we use for each
component:

Building an electrical circuit
This circuit consists of: a cell, a switch, and a light bulb that have been connected by insulated copper
conducting wires.
The image below shows what it should look like (Image 1).

Suggested Solutions
1
o An energy source – like a battery.
o An energy receiver – like a lightbulb.
o An energy pathway – like a wire.
2 You can check if the circuit is working by turning the switch on and seeing if the bulb lights up.
3 The light bulb may not light up, and components could be damaged:
- If a mistake is made, such as incorrect wiring or a broken connection, the circuit may not complete
4 a) Buzzer
