Sub: (a) Cyclonic Storm “ASNA” (pronounced as As-Na) over northeast Arabian Sea
off Pakistan coast and (b) Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral & adjoining
Northwest Bay of Bengal.
(a) Cyclonic Storm “ASNA” (pronounced as As-Na) over northeast Arabian Sea off
Pakistan coast
The Cyclonic Storm “ASNA” (pronounced as As-Na) over northeast Arabian Sea off
Kachchh and adjoining Pakistan coasts moved westwards with a speed of 14 kmph during past
6 hours and lay centered at 2330 hours IST of 30th August, 2024 over the same region near
latitude 23.6°N and longitude 66.4°E, 250 km west of Naliya (Gujarat), 160 km south-southwest
of Karachi (Pakistan) and 350 km east-southeast of Pasni (Pakistan)
It is likely to continue to move nearly west-northwestwards over northeast Arabian Sea away
from Indian coast during next 24 hours and west-southwest wards subsequently.

Warnings:
(i) Wind warning:
o Squally wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is prevailing along & off Pakistan
and adjoining Saurashtra & Kachchh coasts. It is likely to decrease becoming squally wind
speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from 31st August night. It will further decrease
thereafter.
o Gale wind speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 80 kmph is prevailing over northeast &
adjoining eastcentral Arabian Sea. It is likely to increase becoming 70-80 kmph gusting to 90
kmph from morning to evening of 31st August and decrease gradually becoming squally wind
speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from morning of 1st September.
o Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is prevailing over northwest
Arabian Sea off Pakistan coast and likely to increase gradually becoming Gale wind speed
reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph from morning of 31st August morning. Thereafter, the
winds would gradually decrease becoming squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to
70 kmph from morning and 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph by evening of 1st September.
o Strong wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over adjoining
central Arabian Sea till 2nd September morning and along and off Gujarat & north Maharashtra
coasts till 31st August.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy rainfall at isolated
places during 31st August to 1st September and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on
31st August.
Impact Expected
Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses
mainly in urban areas of the above region.
Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.
Reduction of visibility over sea area due to sea spray induced by strong wind and heavy
rainfall.
Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel
time.
Minor damage to kutcha roads.
Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure.
Localized Landslides/Mudslides/landslips/mud slips/land sinks/mud sinks.
Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.

Fishermen are advised not venture into
o Northeast & adjoining Eastcentral Arabian Sea and along & off Gujarat & adjoining north
Maharashtra Coasts till 31st August.
o Northeast & adjoining eastcentral Arabian Sea off Gujarat coast and along & off Pakistan coasts
during 30th August to 1st September.
o Northwest & adjoining westcentral Arabian Sea and along & off Pakistan and southeast Iran
coasts from 31st August till 2nd September.
o Westcentral & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal till 31st August and along & off south Odisha
and north Andhra Pradesh Coasts on 31st August.
Judicious regulation of offshore/onshore Operations
Judicious regulation of surface transports including railways and roadways.
Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
Avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.
Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.
Agromet Advisories for Heavy Rainfall likely over Gujarat, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh due
to both systems
Make provision for draining out excess water from crop fields to avoid water stagnation in
Gujarat State, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Provide mechanical support to horticultural crops and staking to vegetables.
